How Can I Get My Headset /microphone To Work On My Surface Laptop

Can an external microphone be used with the Surface Laptop?

The Microsoft Surface Laptop has a 'combo audio' or head set' jack, so any computer headphone + mic with 3-5 mm or 1/8″ plug should work. There are two kinds of plug wiring, so chinese phone headsets may not work.[1]You may find a USB microphone better for desktop use, or if you don’t want to use headphones. I like the CAD U37, for very low noise. You could also use a cheap USB audio interface if you want to plug a 3.5mm mic in.[2]Footnotes[1] Phone connector (audio) - Wikipedia[2] Amazon.com: Plugable USB Audio Adapter with 3.5mm Speaker/Headphone and Microphone Jacks (Black Aluminum; C-Media HS 100B Chip; Built-In Compatibility with Windows, Mac, and Linux): Computers & Accessories

My laptop charger causes noise in my speakers/headphones and microphone, What's wrong?

Another possibility is that the filter capacitor has gone bad. If you can open the power supply without breaking it, then you might try replacing the capacitor.DANGER: Short the leads to discharge the capacitor before touching it. If you don't understand what I am saying, then you should not open to case yourself; take it to a qualified technician. Or replace the whole power supply. They're not expensive.

How do I use both headphone speaker and mic in one port?

Matthew is correct. Most PC’s and laptops do not have a “four pole” or TRRS connector. This feature is typically found on iPods and smartphones. So go ahead and get an adapter or a cheap USB mic mic. Also, DO NOT plug your headphones into the line out jack on your motherboard. Line out provides a ~2 Volt signal that could damage some headphones. Use the headphone jack located on the front panel.

What is the work of external microphone in a computer?

Some common uses that i've seen: VoIP.(for podcasting, skype, working from home)Audio Engineering.making Desk announcements.Recording meetings.Multiplayer games(although most gaming headset will have one)If you need a microphone for any real regular use, you should consider things like audio interfaces and microphone styles. For audio interfaces, you usually have two options:Analog: Analog mics plug directly into your PC's 3.5mm audio-input jack. Analog audio ports give you a ton of flexibility, since you can always add a pre-amp or more audio processing gear in between the microphone and your PC, but if you don't have any of that gear, you're trusting the audio chipset on your computer's motherboard to handle microphone duties, which can be a dealbreaker in professional cases.USB: As the name implies, these microphones plug in via USB, and depending on the model, can be complicated and include their own pre-amps and audio processors. Others, of course, are just cheap microphones, only USB. You give up some of that flexibility that analog microphones offer, but for many users, a good USB microphone wraps up all of the features they need with good audio quality and throughput so they don't need the extra gear. If one USB mic isn't enough, you can always pick up a digital interface to hook up multiple analog mics later.Hope this helped :)  Thanks for a2a.

My logitech mouse only works on material surfaces?

Hi,

this is a very common issue with mouses these days. I'm assuming you either have an Infra-red or Laser based mouse. The light underneath the mouse works by detecting texture and uses that info to see which way it is being moved. This means the mouse can only detect movement on certain surfaces.

I myself use an Infra-Red optical mouse which has no visible light and will only work on 'matt' surfaces such as materials or plain paper. Shiny surfaces reflect the light back without any texture and therefore the mouse has no idea where it is moving.

Try stretching a piece of denim from an old pair of jeans (or any other thick material) over a normal mouse mat, this should solve your issue.

If the light underneath your mouse has a red light, it is a Laser. If the light has no colour, it is an Infra-Red. Lasers tend to work on most surfaces but they don't like too many patterned surfaces as it makes the mouse pointer jump around. Infra-Red seems to be more picky about its surfaces and just needs a bit of texture, no need to go buy a specific mouse mat, denim works for me every time!

Hope that helps, good luck.

Does an external microphone work with a Samsung phone without configuration?

Not all microphones are made the same, and I can say as one who fiddles with mics, that it’s definitely not a “plug and go” even when it was years ago, and it stays rather quite complicated.Mics are generally just thin sheets of material which vibrate enabling an electric mechanism to generate very weak electric signals. The signals are pushed into an amplifier so that the signal becomes powerful and loud enough to be recorded onto the recording medium, or to be pumped into another amplifier and blasted by a loudspeaker. Most microphones need that first amplifier, called the preamp. Now, some mics, like the ones on a phone’s headset, don’t require much preamplification, so they pretty much work as intended. However, most external mics require more power so that the signal is hot enough. You’d either need a much, much louder sound source and/or a more powerful preamp, which most if not all mobile phones don’t have. That is why most interfaces that accept external microphones have their own dedicated preamps so that they can process the signal properly and just pump out the digital information to the phone. Otherwise, manufacturers build devices that have internal preamps that make things a bit easier. That being said, if you want to use an external mic, you have to ensure that the model is made for mobile devices, such as products from Zoom or iRig. Otherwise, it’s very likely that you will need amobile audio interface from any reputable audio brand, iRig, Apogee, M-Audio, Alesis, just to name a few.

How can i stop my Laptop from humming?

It's not dust, although that is a contributing factor.

All computers, desktops and laptops, hum to a certain degree. The higher performance it is, the more quiet it is (often). The humming you hear is your computer working, and as it works it gets hot, which makes a little fan go off to prevent fires in your computer. If your laptop has been on a while then it will almost certainly hum, also if you're running high-memory processes like games or big files. That goes double if your laptop is older or entry-level.

What you can do is:
- buy a new laptop. (don't reccommend, although you can get one for $600 from Dell)
- put the laptop on a soft, sound-absorbing surface (think placemats, blankets, mousepads, anything like that, the thicker the better)]
- upgrade RAM to make things easier on your laptop. You can buy 512MB of RAM for about $49, make sure you know the right kind to buy and the right brands (I reccomend Kingston Technologies).

hope i helped.
