How Can I Get Rid Of My Paranoia Without Taking Medicine Or Seeing A Therapist

I may either have paranoid schitzophrenia or psychosis can my psychiatrist insn't telling me?

You are not a freak and this guy keeping you in the dark is not in your best interest. He may not have finished evaluating you but you deserve at least a partial diagnosis as you're the one who has to live like this. He is ethically bound to explain every treatment he tries on you, it is called informed medical consent, so don't be afraid to ask difficult or annoying questions.

You need to ask him out right what he is treating you for, if he names just the symptoms that your suffering, ask him what conditions could they be indicative of and how would you then approach treatment for them in the future.

You are also entitled to know why he has specifically put you on these medications, what symptoms they treat and how they work. Ask for literature on them and find out about anything that concerns you such as side effects.

My paranoia is so bad it perhibits me from leaving the house most days, im 22 and need a job what should I do?

See a psychiatrist. And see a counselor. Get the help you need to work through your paranoia, and the medication that will give you a jumpstart on the way.In addition to that, mental illness of that magnitude is a disability, and there are programs available to help you pay your bills as you recover. If you are not sure where to start, you might be able to dial 211 to get that information. If not, I suggest calling the NON-EMERGENCY number for the police station and asking them about any local crisis counseling offices they work with. That's how I found my most recent counselor and psychiatrist! And it was all free! There are also online counseling sites where you can get help without leaving home. I have never used these, but they do exist. No matter what you are facing, often the best thing you can do is tell people you need help, like you did by posting this question. Good first step, now comes the rest of it.Best of luck, my friend.

Paranoid schizophrenia is taking a toll on me. How can I handle it? I hear voices and not in a state to differentiate between hallucinations and reality.

Are you on medications? Are you working with a good psychiatrist? Do you have support structures/people in place in your life? Are you also seeing a therapist?A good medicine cocktail can save your life. I know it isn’t fun, but if you aren’t taking medications, then your fight will be 10000% harder. Today’s medications generally combat a lot of the positive symptoms like hallucinations and delusions. When I don’t take medications I have a lot of delusions and lose touch with reality. If you are taking meds and you are still having a lot of symptoms, then you need to discuss this with your psychiatrist and try a different medication or combination of medications. You also need to make sure you are regularly taking meds. You can’t skip doses. I had trouble doing that, so now I get an injection once every three weeks so I don’t have to take my antipsychotic in oral form.It is important to have some kind of emotional support in your life in addition to being able to meet your physical needs. (If you are worried about losing housing or are homeless, then it will be very difficult to get things sorted. Reach out in your area to try to find help if that is your situation.) If you don’t have friends or family, then I suggest joining a free NAMI support group in your area. People who are in a similar situation can really make a difference. I don’t go to NAMI support groups, but I have a lot of online friends who I’ve made over the years who also are dealing with mental health issues. Also, if you are able to, I would suggest finding a therapist if you don’t have one. They can help you process everything that is going on in ways that friends/family might not be able to.Also, make sure you are sleeping every day and eating and drinking. I know this can sometimes be hard, especially if you are hallucinating, but if you aren’t sleeping, eating and staying hydrated, your symptoms will get worse. It is great you are reaching out! If you want to, feel free to contact me. If you’d like to be FB friends let me know! You can get through this hard part! Hang in there.

Paranoid Stare?

I was the homecoming king of my 6A highschool. I could talk an eskimo out of his coat in a snow storm.

Now, I get so nervous talking to people I get head aches and my eyes get this paranoid stare that I can't shake.

I know people notice the stare and it makes them uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I am not the outgoing person I used to be. In fact, the only friends I have are from highschool and I suspect only hang out with me for old times sake.

My dad is a long term, full blown schizophrenic and I wonder if I am not "wandering" that way.

Any help?

Best way to get rid of paranoia?

Therapy. You'll need someone to help you get through this.

I suffer from paranoia from having schizoaffective disorder. I've taken medications and have gone to therapy to help with my illness. I have to, for medical reasons, go off of my psychiatric meds, so I'm relying on therapy to help me with paranoid thoughts and episodes.

It takes knowledge and skills to combat those thoughts, like reality checks. (Like I think my husband is reading my thoughts at times. I will degrade him, shout horrible things about him in my mind. If he doesn't react [he never does] that means he is not in my head.) A therapist can help you rationalize and see what is real or not. It is a lot of work to conquer those thoughts, but the time spent in therapy is well worth it.

You can't will the thoughts away. You have to fight them. Good luck, and I pray many blessings come your way.

How can someone with paranoid schizophrenia find a psychiatrist who is supportive and doesn't shame them for not being able to work due to hallucinations and other things?

Ideally, no Psychiatrist should do that! Psychiatrists do come in different flavors, though, and it’s possible to not mesh well with one or to find one who is dismissive and too egotistical or judgemental. They should never ever shame you for having Schizophrenia!I think the best way is to ask around-if possible. Find a medical provider you trust and ask for a referral, have a family member ask around for you and check references. Online reviews can be iffy, but I’d be cautious if someone has many negative reviews.I have a family member who suffers from paranoid delusions and has had several psychotic breaks. He’s never paranoid about his Dr.’s, though. His last psychiatrist was kind, but prescribing a poor medication regimen. During his last hospitalization, family met with with the Psychiatrists and she recommended a new Psychiatrist that his insurance covered. The family member is doing much much better. The Psychiatrist doesn’t judge him and is actually a supportive advocate. You could try talking to your local NAMI chapter and see if they have any recommendations.

If someone is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia by a psychiatrist what happens if they diagnose wrong?

Have you ever met a sane psychiatrist? They seem to specialise in this field to try and sort out their own problems. I worked with them. Most of them were barely sane.Read some history on psychiatry and psychology. Take a look at Image Archive on the American Eugenics Movement. These people were the world leaders in brain chemistry. They were revered specialists. Many of them were wealthy and powerful. They were the gurus of their time until Hitler took it a tad too far.If you are schizophrenic you will know. If voices or images keep telling you to do something evil - if you cannot cope with life in general, medication can help. But medication can also make you hallucinate and hear voices. Before you take anything, research what they are giving you. Read SSRI stories and Benzo buddies, then decide if you want to get caught in the medication cycle. Some drugs especially ice and speed will bring on schizophrenic symptoms. Stay away from them.If you cannot cope go to a psychologist who practises EMDR. If you were in the Armed Forces you most likely have PTSD. Ask for help. Especially for the military ther is help. Read up everything your can.If you have photos and recordings go to the police. Show them the proof. Stalking someone is a serious offence. All you can do is record it.If it is impacting on your life to the point of not being able to look after yourself, try booking into a hospital for a few days. Get fed, looked after properly, or go home and get some good food. Everyone has their breaking point. Also ask your friends if they think you are acting strangely. They’ll give you better advice. Being schizophrenic isn’t fun. If you know you hare get help. If ot stay away from ay form of drugs.

Diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic but i don't have hallucinations?

i think your therapist is way out of line. he is not qualified to order medications, or diagnose, if he is not a qualified psychiatrist. a psychologist can diagnose , but cannot order medications. you have every right to know what your medications and side effects are, as everybody does not always respond well to their medications. if you are diagnosed properly, you have every right to know your medications. part of staying mentally healthy is understanding your illness, your medications , and recognizing you symptoms if they should reoccur. i worked in a mental health system for over thirty years, and always told the people of their illness, and their medications. schizophrenia usually runs in families. not all people with schizophrenia have hallucinations, so it is possible you may have it. their is no test for schizophrenia, the diagnosis is based on family history, and the symptoms you have. i would get another opinion, don't take it out on your mother, because she is probably doing what she thinks is best for you. good luck, get a second opinion, only from a qualified psychiatrist. if you do need medications, they usually work for this illness, but can take time for your body to get used to them.
