In the The Jungle Book (2016 movie), why was Akela (the head of the wolf pack) killed so easily?

***SPOILERS***When Shere Khan (the tiger who wanted to kill Mowgli) showed up at the wolf den to express his unhappiness at the boy not being turned over to him, Akela went over to him alone to discuss it with him.  Without the pack behind him, Akela had no chance against Shere Khan.  I am guessing we are supposed to believe that Akela felt safe enough to speak to Shere Khan without thinking he would attack him right then and there.  Since Shere Khan surprised him with the attack, and he had no other wolves near him, Shere Khan was easily able to grab him and throw him off the rock and kill him.  In regards to the sadness of this, the scene was meant to illustrate how angry and evil Shere Khan was.  This was not about him trying to eat prey, this was about a vendetta, he was being very vindictive.  Basically at this point Shere Khan is there for the audience to hate with a passion, and fear, as he is now hunting Mowgli.

Is it okay to sleep on the ground in a forest?

On survival shows, you always see people building shelters like a lean-to and they sleep on the ground. Is that really safe? Should you be worried about bugs.

Obviously if you're in a jungle or rain forest you don't want to be sleeping on the ground for sure. But what about regular wooded areas?

What is the music that plays as a prologue in most of the Kenny Sebastian videos on YouTube?

What is the best sounding movie on blu ray?

Almost anything where the sound was created at Skywalker Sound, part of Lucasfilm, out on Skywalker Ranch in the Tech Building. Many wonderful artists of sound have worked and recorded there, Ben Burtt,  Tomlinson Holman (supposed namesake of THX), Randy Thom, Walter Murch, on and on. Even when Lucas doesn't get a film nominated for the big director or cinematography or acting awards, his company's films almost always get a nod for sound, sound mixing and editing, and special effects. In an off year, they may just get soundtrack nominations if John Williams recorded out at the Ranch, but even those are really good sounding soundtracks! If you see any of these names in the credits, you know a master craftsman has been working on it (and with good resources).Randy's work deservedly earned him an Oscar for Phil Kaufmann's The Right Stuff. Just look at the Academy Award winners for sound mixing and editing over the years, and that's a good place to find great sound. The original Star Wars trilogy had beautifully recorded sound that later adapted well to surround and Blu-ray. Ben Burtt has many fun stories about creating the sounds for the light sabers involving twanging power line support wires, and Chewbacca's voice, made by mixing animal sounds recorded at the SF Zoo. They still keep a huge archive of created sounds for reuse in movies to this day.Raiders of the Lost Ark was the first film I saw where the surround was really effective in the theatre (and then later on Beta HiFi tape, stereo with a Dynaco rear channel decoder at home) - for instance, when Indy leaps from the cave after the boulder chase in the prologue and lands in the jungle, the sonic environment all of a sudden changes to birds and monkeys surrounding him in the rear in a wide open jungle ambience, almost as effective sonically as the B/W to color change in Wizard of Oz was visually. Walter Murch's sound work on Apocalypse Now was and is remarkable, from the helicopter mix with the Doors' "The End" in the opening sequence to the napalm run clearing the way for surfing. I asked him about the surround work, and he told me that he had mixed the multichannel sound for the laserdisc release, and they had just kept that for the DVD Dolby Surround mix. I don't know if there's been any work on it for the Blu-ray release, but it's an impressive piece of work.

What is the proper explanation of what IMAX is and how it is different?

IMAX was originally created for documentary presentations that last 45min. Christopher Nolan was the first to use it in a film presentation. He wanted to expand the world of his Batman sequel ‘The Dark Knight’ and make the city feel really huge. He had wanted to experiment with them for awhile, because he feels it's the most clear and immersive form of film available.Due to the size of the film frame and watching on a screen that goes past your peripheral vision, with the picture going above your head and past your feet, the immersive impact and depth of the picture, is the best form of cinema to experience. I've been fortunate enough to have experienced films that shot with IMAX cameras and film stock, on the world’s largest screen in Darling Harbour, Sydney. Some of the greatest scenes and movies experiences with this technology for me have been…Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol: This scene and stunt work was crazy, I felt like I was on the side of the building with Tom Cruise… The adrenaline was pumping. The Dark Knight: There were many great IMAX sequences that expanded the entire screen, in this film. But the Hong Kong building scene and imagery was breathtaking. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: The entire arena sequence was shot with IMAX, I felt like I was on the island and in the jungle with the combatants. Incredibly immersive. The Dark Knight Rises: Say what you will about the film, but is the most immersive and best cinematic experience I've ever had. I felt like I was in the streets of Gotham, shot with the most IMAX footage so far, this was so impressive I watched it six times at IMAX. The prologue at the beginning was crazy, I felt like I was in the plane with Bane and the CIA agents and lost my stomach when the fuselage dropped from Bane triggering it’s disconnection.Interstellar: Another Christopher Nolan blockbuster. A stunning space exploration film, with great imagery and shot with a huge amount of IMAX film. The Endurance docking scene was amazing, spinning out of control in space from an explosion, you felt like you were with Cooper chasing it down and spinning wildly to dock the endurance.

How good is the Opening/Background to my book?

This concept is interesting - my interest was peaked by the idea that the Elves are absent from a world of which they are guardians. On the other hand, as an opening to a book, this does not work. The opening of a book needs to be prose, not a brief list like this. Can you enlarge upon the history here? If Earth is not yet created, what is the Elves' world of Aeraen like? Where does Aether come from and what are The Other like? Why are the Elves absent from the world? And so on. Just forget about starting your book for a while and flesh all this out. Worldbuilding like this can be even more rewarding than writing the actual book! (At least for me it often is.) Then take all that information and turn it into a prologue sort of thing that explains all this. (I wouldn't make it the beginning of the first chapter - start the story, the action, introduce the main character, in the first chapter. World history like this should either be in a prologue or dispersed throughout the story a bit later on.)Good luck with your book! I am liking the sound of what you have so far and I think it will be a good story. :)
