How Can I Go And Make Food When I Have Horrific Social Anxiety

What are scientifically proven methods to cure anxiety?

Here is how I recommend you to cope with anxiety (worked for me):Do sports (at home, if you feel more confortable) but 3x 30min/week.Try to desensitize yourself (little by little) by exposing you to what situation makes you anxious.Eat more greens, oilseeds, fresh fruits and food rich in magnesium such as: raw spinach, fish, beans, lentils, avocados, brown rice, bananas, figs and chocolate.Do a cure of prebiotic and probiotic. Brain and gut are linked. If you have a pet, cuddle with it more often and take care of it. It will make you shift your focus from anxiety to something else.Try to catch the sun everyday for 10mins.Check your levels of vit D and B12 (adjust with supplements if needed).Learn how to breathe and cardiac coherence.Yoga, you can find plenty of stuff online.Mindfulness meditation, it’s not hard, stick to it.When you feel anxiety, let it come, don’t fight against it. Take deep breath (inhale for 6 seconds, hold for 2, exhale for 6. Do it again). Just observe how tense and how bad you feel over nothing. Meditation can help to stand back.Sleep enough (7 to 9hours/night).Quit smoking and avoid drinking alcohol.Smile. Smiling, even for nothing, tricks the mind and releases happy hormones.Learn to manage your anxiety, it’s always going to be there because it’s a normal mechanism of protection but don’t let it rule you anymore. You are not alone, you are worth it.

Why are some doctors so 'Benzo phobic'? I have severe anxiety and panic attacks, but keep being given anti depressants with much worse side effects and no discernible benefits. What can I do?

Some doctors may be “Benzo phobic" because of the very real risks of using Benzodiazepines, similar to those I list below. However, I understand that many doctors are still willing to prescribe a Benzodiazepine for treatment of anxiety (including my own). You raise a legitimate concern that your anxiety is not being adequately treated by antidepressants. But since you imply that you have had more than one doctor refuse to prescribe a Benzodiazepine for your anxiety, you want to avoid the appearance of being “drug seeking.” As you may know, Benzodiazepines are controlled substances, and some people DO abuse them. So, I would approach this very tactically: Seek a second (third or whatever number) opinion on your diagnosis and treatment from a doctor at the Psychiatry Department of your local Medical School. Explain your concerns to that Psychiatrist just as you have on Quora, and see if that makes the difference in your treatment plan including a Benzodiazepine. As a patient, I believe you deserve the best care available for your anxiety and that MAY include using a Benzodiazepine. Just be sure to educate yourself (as I have) on the very real risks of using Benzodiazepines. Those risks (not an all-inclusive list) include: physical addiction, very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms if discontinued and the dose is not reduced (tapered) gradually, and possible sedation affecting your ability to function in your daily life or at work, including impairing your ability to drive. My advice on taking a Benzodiazepine and driving is: Don't do it! In my home state of Texas, driving under the influence of a Benzodiazepine will result in a DUI, regardless of the circumstances. Not particularly fair, but true according to my Psychiatrist.Good luck! I know how horrible it feels when my own anxiety is poorly controlled. I don't wish that kind of suffering on ANYONE!

Having social anxiety and starting a new job?

I've been out of work for a little over six months now. I haven't really made an effort to apply anywhere because my anxiety has gotten so terrible. My sister got me an interview and basically forced me to go. I really didn't think I'd get the job, but somehow I did. The thought of working literally makes me break out into a sweat, panic, and makes me want to throw up. I start next weekend and every minute of every day I have been worried about it. I even had a nightmare about it last night. Worries consume my whole day. I hate working with the public. The last time I started a new job, I basically had a mental breakdown. I don't want that to happen but I also don't want to keep living like this anymore. I've tried everything besides medication. All kinds of therapy. Nothing has helped. I'd much rather just keep to myself than even try to push myself. I have such a fear of being around people and being judged and looking stupid. People keep asking me how excited I am to have a new job and to be working again and I secretly crinvpge inside. I have to push myself to smile and act like I'm excited when in reality I want to hide. I hate this. Can someone please give me some help and advice? Anything would be helpful. Thanks so much.

I am having terrible anxiety about this N.Korea crisis. Can someone help relieve this?

Is there reason for concern when you have two deranged leaders with access to nuclear weapons while screaming insults and taunts at each other like two schoolyard bullies? Sure, we should be concerned. But consider what would actually happen if either side launched an attack. For North Korea it would likely be near total annihilation. Unless you believe that Kim Jong Un and all of his military leaders think it’s worth dying and killing everyone and everything they love in order to teach the U.S. a lesson they won’t be around to witness, then I don’t think you have any real reason for concern. What benefit are you deriving from this exaggerated worry? If something were to happen, your worry could not prevent it and unless you have access to a fully stocked fallout shelter, there’s not a lot you can do about the situation except do your best to survive. Taking action is the best way to deal with anxiety. So what can you do? Support those voices of peace and reason. Work to elect more responsible officials. Support efforts for non-proliferation (North Korea isn’t the only country with nukes). Appreciate each day for what it is, while it is - whether it’s a nuclear attack or some accident or illness, we all risk meeting the ends of our lives at any time. Also, turn of your radio, your TV, the Internet, etc. Suddenly there’s this amazing peacefulness. Go outside and walk in a forest. Breathe deeply, Feel the air moving across your skin, the sun warming you, the rain cooling you. Study a flower or the flight of a butterfly. Buy an ice cream cone and really focus on the sweetness, the cold, the creaminess of the ice cream and the crunch of the cone. Hug someone and appreciate the wonder of touch. Have sex. Laugh, Cry, Run until you’re out of breath. There’s so much to being alive. Focus on living, here and now. These things are within your control and well worth your attention.

What is social control , and what are some examples of it?

Social controls are the laws imposed on the people by their government.
The prohibition laws from 1919 to 1933 banned drinking of alcoholic beverages in the
USA. It was enforced by local, state and federal agencies. But it caused so much
corruption it was repealed after 14 years. But it made some bootleggers very rich
and was pretty much the influence behind the start of organized crime.

Not unusual to see riot police responding to citizen protests in countries
all around the world on TV news programs.

In the USA, our national guard fired into a student gathering at Kent state
college in Ohio, killing 4 and injuring several. Consider that with the Chinese
problem in red square in 1989. Over a million protesters gathered in 40
hectare square. They were told to leave. Urged to leave for over 2 weeks.
finally the army was sent in to disburse them. Chinese government got terrible press
for their actions, but they were really quite restrained.
