My stock+bonds portfolio has given me 15% per annum return on investment. I have designed this portfolio for 12% per annum ROI. But it has outperformed my expectation. Here I have used bonds and cash as secured asset basket with stocks.FEATURES OF THIS TYPE PORTFOLIO1. Where can I invest 20,000$ in America to get the best return possible other than stocks?

It depends on what sort of risk you're willing to take.there are allot of different investments out there (real estate, Gold, Stockmarket, Forex market, small bussines, etc). You can see what suits you the most once you chosen a way you can start investigating and start looking for opportunities.Normally the higher you're risk the higher you're return can be.You're also able to diversify your money for example 1/3 in lower risk investments1/3 in an entrepeneur you believe and help him with a loanand 1/3 in an high yielding investment. The journey of my investments

Which type of safe investment would you do if you have $10-$20k spare cash?

The most tried and true long term wealth building strategy is investing in real estate rental properties. Now in your situation there’s two different ways you can choose to do this. If you want to continue living at home, then buy a $100k home and use your $20k as the down payment. Depending on the area of the home rents vary but a good rule of thumb is the total rent should be 1% of the total property, and if you got 2% that’d be fantastic. But let’s say 1% just to show the returns on the least rent. So your rental income would be $1,000 a month, meaning even with a mortgage, after owning the home for only two years you will have paid yourself back the downpayment. And moving forward you are adding roughly $10k in income a year while gaining equity in the home. And this money can then be used to buy another property or if you want to try a different investment. The beauty of real estate investing is it is completely passive. You will have a strong monthly cash flow on top of your already $60k salary job. By doing no work other than finding renters and routine maintenance, you have increased your annual salary almost 20% in two years. The other way is “house hacking”. House hacking is taking advantage of an FHA loan, requiring 3.5% downpayment, this allows you to buy more with less down, as long as you live in the property. House hacking is having other people pay for your property while you still live in it. You can buy a duplex or a four-plex, live in one unit, and rent out the others to provide an even higher return in monthly cash flow. So not only are you making a great financial investment with quick and high profits, but moving out and starting on your own.

What's the best way to invest $20k for highest return with similar risk to S&P 500 (very low risk), with monthly contributions, to retire on it at 32, without penalties?

Invest in an S&P500 index where the real rate of return with dividends reinvested is 7%.Assuming you’re satisfied with the $70K median income of college educated households, your $20K/month investment leaves some room for market value decreases over the next 7 years provided you’re getting an early start before age 25.After your investments reach $2.3M, shift to a 70/30 stock/bond mix to mitigate risk.Spend no more than 3% annually to minimize the risk of outliving your money.Good luck!

I have $20,000 to invest for 3 months. What will give me the highest return without excessive risk? I don’t want to put it in the bank, so I’m looking for a mid risk speculative play to see what I can make of it. It will be reinvested after 3 months.

There is no answer to this question. 3 months is WAY too short a period for any investment to be anything other than wild speculation.Bitcoin seems a good way to make some spectacular money in 3 months, but I don't know if the blockchain bubble will burst in that time any more than anyone else does.5-year or 10-year timespan and an ETF or other index-tracking instrument is a pretty safe investment. But 3-months? No one knows if the markets will be up or down in that period any more than they know if red or black will come up next on the roulette wheel. If you can’t afford to lose the money then stick it in a bank account and moan about the 0.1–0.5% pa you’re making.

What's the best way to invest $20,000?

Invest your money on a well diversified mutual fund that has averaged 10-15% rate of return for the last 20-40 years.
By law you can invest $5,000/yr in your IRA ($6,000 if you are 50+ years old). And you can invest up to $15,500/yr in your 401k ($16,500 if you are 50+ years of age). You can put all the money in a SEP IRA if you are self-employed or own a businesss.
Good Luck
