How Can I Learn To Fix/repair Cars

What is the best way to learn how to fix cars?

Fixing cars can be a difficult job if you don’t how. But it is an easy job and easy money as some auto mechanics said. I suggest you should go to YouTube to find out how to fix not the whole car as you said, to do some minor repairs for your car such as to change engine oil, doing tire rotations, change light bulbs, headlights or signal lights, and fixing many other components of your car can be learned and self-taught by watching YouTube on your computer. Buy some car engine repair handbooks to learn something about fixing cars.

How can I learn to fix cars?

Yeah, and programming is just typing. How hard can that be?

You have the same problems in both fields. You have devices that were designed by geniuses, parts made by the lowest bidder, then assembled by bored slaves. The documentation is usually incorrect, out of date, or intentionally misleading. There are useless knockoff parts made in far-away places with unintelligible instructions. Things that should fit, don't. The customers can't explain the problem and think you are lying and cheating them.

Even worse, you get dirty and things can burn you, scald you, poison you, and cut you. Things can fall on you or get in your eyes. Even on a good day you get muscle aches from all the bending and reaching.

Sometimes you can't figure out what is going wrong or the problem is in some expensive or irreplaceable black box. Half the help on the internet is misleading or wrong.

See, easy as pie.

What is a good way to learn to fix cars?

I got my start in mechanics when I purchased a nonrunning 1977 Triumph Spitfire. Working on it was the only way I would ever get to drive it, which I very much wanted to do. I was fairly intimidated by the thought of working on a newer, more complicated vehicle, but the Spitfire is very simple compared to modern cars and it is such a small car that I could tell myself that it was just a big go-cart. That helped to steady my nerves. Plus, it was already broken, what's the worst I could do, break it more?I used to hate mechanical work, then I bought some tools. That made an amazing difference. Spend some time looking through tool catalogs, and make careful purchases. Buy tools when you need to use them, not because you like shiny things. Get a nice toolbox. It's what separates us from the apes. At first I read alot. (I still read alot.) I talked with people who knew about cars. I lifted the hood and stared at the engine. I tried to figure out what everything did and how all the pieces worked together. I started fixing things here and there. I changed the fluids. Eventually the car ran, and I enrolled in a community college Automotive Repair Technology program. Having a mental picture of my Spitfire's mechanical system really helped me to understand what my instructors were telling me, and I learned that newer cars were basically the same as older cars, but with some refinements.

What do I need to do to learn how to customize and repair cars?

In years gone by, a lot of guys skipped the schooling and learned out in the field, but with cars becoming progressively more complex, schooling might just pay off now in a way that it never has before..Most shops have new hires become GS’s (General Service) Techs, and will promote to a mechanic /technician spot later. GS techs are responsible for tires and tire related things (flat repairs, rotations, balancing), as well as oil changes, offloading tires, restocking, cleaning up…..If you get hired on,. make friends with the mechanics, and in your spare moments/breathers, shadow them, ask questions, and watch what they do. Most (but not all) are happy to teach a little bit.

Learn to fix cars myself?

I wont lie to you it does take some dedication, but if you really want to learn how to fix a car the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty. The good thing is you started exactly how i did, with a body damaged car with electrical problems, amongst other mechanical issues and a good motor.

When you want to find parst for your car go down to the local salvage yard and collect the good parts you need from the junk car. You will find out alot about the car by taking it apart and putting it back together.

As far as the engine is concerned go to Advance Auto and pick up a Haynes Auto Repair Manual. They come in individual series based on the car that you drive and show you how to take your entire car apart and put it back together step by step. It will help you to fix the errors with your car while teaching you automotive terminology.

Just keep a cool head and a steady wrench and you'll do fine. Best of Luck.
