What are some home remedies to lighten my hair?

A popular way to lighten hair at home is by using a combination of honey and vinegar. Both have natural lightening agents. Use about two cups of vinegar, a cup of raw honey, 1 tblsp of olive oil, and a tblsp of cardamom or cinnamon. Mix it all together, comb it through your hair, and wrap your hair in plastic wrap. You could also use a plastic cap. Leave this in overnight and wash it out in the morning. Be sure to sleep with a towel around the plastic so you don't make a mess all over your sheets! I attempted to lighten my hair at home , what should I do now?

I have dark brown hair , I wanted to lighten it a few shades lighter. I havent colored my hair in months , I usually get it back to dark brown because it lightens in the sun but decided on going a few shades lighter. I used Loreal Colour experte , colored my hair , which is rather thick and fairly long I suppose. Either way my roots turned out nice and light like I want them to , but about three inches down where my hair used to be colored is still very dark. I think that maybe my hair didnt saturate it enough , usually I get it done at the salon and they always comment on how much color they have to use. Should I just try it again?

What is the best way to lighten dark hair at home?

Well, if you truly must do it at home... Here is the best way to do it. THIS ADVICE IS FOR VIRGIN, PREVIOUSLY UNTINTED DARK HAIR. Please purchase your supplies from a hair supply retailer and do not use box dyes or box lighteners. You have to lighten your hair in stages. You shouldn't lighten hair more than 2-3 stages in a single session to protect your hair from becoming overly damaged. If you can, use lighteners with products like Olaplex to improve hair over time while preventing initial damage with color products. Hair color is rated on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the darkest (black) and 10 being the lightest (Pale-lightest blonde)Hair A - If you are a level 1-4 you are going to see red tones when you lift your hair no MATTER WHAT YOU USE.  You will need to tone after lightening. Hair B - If you are a level 5-6 you are going to see red-orange tones when you lift your hair NO MATTER WHAT YOU USE so you will also likely need to tone after lightening. Are you hair A? You want to use a gentle lightener with a 20-40 Vol strength developer for the longest allowed time. You may have to do this twice but shouldn't do it any sooner than 1.5 weeks apart. Use a deep conditioner in between to repair the integrity of your hair. Use a toner to remove any brassy or harsh red tones from your color. Are you hair B? You can use a gentle lightener with a 20 Vol strength developer for the longest allowed time. You may have to do this twice if you intend to reach a level 10. Otherwise, lighten once, shampoo, dry and determine if a toner is required. Toners are used to negate unwanted tones in hair color. If your hair appears to be coppery or red in color, use a toner with more blue/violet tones to neutralize their appearance.IF YOU ATTEMPT to complete this process on hair that was previously colored (you were a 5 and you colored it to a 1 and now you want to be a 5 or higher again) you may cause irreparable damage to your hair depending on multiple factors not limited to hair porosity, elasticity, length of time since your last color and more. Proceeding with the above steps can cause uneven lifting, dried ends, breakage, gummy hair, dead hair, hair loss, spotted color and 'holidays'.

How do I lighten my hair with clorox?

Household bleach (Chlorine) is different from hair bleach (Peroxide). They are very very different. The peroxide used for bleaching is also different from the Hydrogen Peroxide you would use to disinfect wounds and such. Both chlorine bleach and hydrogen peroxide will damage your skin and hair if you try to use them to lighten your hair, and they WILL NOT lighten it. Please do not use these caustic chemicals for anything else than their intended use.If you want to bleach your hair at home, please read up on the process (you can start here), inform yourself, buy the right products, and then do a test on a lock of hair to see how your own unique hair reacts to the bleaching process, so you can keep the bleach on for the shortest possible time.Again, stay away from chlorine bleach unless you are trying to clean the toilet or whiten laundry.
