How long does it take to lose love handles and lower belly fat?

im pretty skinny.... im about 5'4 and weigh around 120lbs... lately i haven't been eating very healthy and im starting to get love handles and i cant seem to get rid of the fat in my lower belly... how long does it take to lose the extra weight with exercise everyday???

How to lose love handles?

Anyone that tells you you can target a certain area of your body is full of crap and knows nothing about weight loss. You can't choose where the weight comes off; it burns where it wants to.

The only way is to lower your total body fat % through a calorie deficit. Figure out your BMR and activity level then eat about 500 calories less than what you need to maintain your weight per day. This will let you lose about 1lb a week which will be mostly fat. This is the only real and healthy way.

How long would it take to lose my love handles?

All that oblique work won't burn the fat you have in the love handles. The exercises will just work the muscles UNDER the fat. But they'll never show until you lose the body fat on top of them.

All those exercise are cool. They burn calories. BUT they will come from all over your body, not just from the love handle area. Or worse, the calories used to fuel those exercises will come from the food you ate prior to exercising.

So how do you get rid of the love handles?? Through a well designed diet. Our diet is 80% of our success.

Here's a well designed fat loss diet for a young lady who weighs 130lbs:

1300 calories each day. 550 calories from protein + 550 calories from fat + 200 calories from carbs.

That's it. Real simple. Real boring. But REAL effective.

edit: I must add... The device you used in P.E. class to determine your body composition is the absolute least accurate of methods. It was more than likely a bio-impedence device. Either a scale or a hand held device. I would not put much credence into that reading. Go by the mirror and by how your clothes feel.

The best way to test our bodyfat levels are:

1) dexa scan
2) under water hydrostatic test
3) bod-pod
4) calipers
and then 5) bio-impedence

After reading this book, I personally feel that this book is a must read for every begginer who is determined to lose weight or starting any type of exrcise.Now coming to your question.According to Rujuta, there's no best way to lose fat from a certain part of your body. Spot reduction is a myth! And I know this is so true by my own experience. So why does this myth exist and why spot reduction isn't possible?Let's see what Rujuta have to say on this.So in short,To lose belly fat or side fat, you've to include your whole body in your workout and combine your workout with a clean and proper diet in order to achieve result. How long does it take to lose love handles ?

I'm not fat but I'm VERY untonned ! I'm not looking for toning exercises at the moment, I'll do em all after I lose body fat first ! I'm 15 turning 16 in two months, 5'7, girl and I weigh 145.2 pounds! If i have a balanced diet and exercise 1 hour everyday (cardio) ; about how long will it take?
- also is it better to do cardio till you lose the fat then tone, or do them both at the same time ?
