TSH ‘norm’ should be .3 – 3 (w/ most feeling best at < 2) but would not matter if ANTIBODIES are present. Indicative of Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Thyroiditis (cycles between hyper & hypo at start)…main cause of HypOthyroid & is worse (...OR Graves Disease - HypERthyroid).

WARNING: Doctors seem not to want to find/treat thyroid disease. You may have to go to more than one doctor before you get the right tests, interpretation, and treatment. Best wishes.

Hypothyroidism? Can you still lose weight?

No it is not impossible. You may have to work a little harder at it but do NOT let it be an excuse to be overweight. As long as you take your prescription just like you are told and get your levels checked every 3-6 months to ensure you are taking the right dose, you should be fine. Make it a point to walk everyday, drink a lot of water and avoid processed foods.

There is a book called the Thyroid Diet you might want to check it out at you library. It has some information for people who have hypothyroid and want to know more about controlling their weight.

I too am hypothyroid. In fact I have what they call Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. I take levoxyl, I have recently begun taking cytomel too because I was still feeling tired and sluggish in spite of the fact that my levels were normal. As far as losing the weight. I don't know how much you have gained, but what I did was go on a very low calorie liquid diet for a few weeks to get the weight loss started. Then I cut my carbs, and sugars and really souped up the exercise. you should be doing weight training along with cardio vascular because cardio alone won't give you the results you want. Ouch! This seems like a very diffuct situation on your part. PCOS, which messes with your hormones and Hypothyroidism which messes them even more? My friend, you have a double threat. • Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.

• Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !

This improves your bowel, reduces the "hunger" sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks!
Don't believe the slogan "water makes me fat". Beside being stupid... you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.
• Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed!
Don't drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.

• If you want quicker results - exercise would be good.
• Don't just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts...
