How can I make a good profit on Ebay?
I've been selling full-time on eBay for 6 months now and made a spreadsheet fee calculator early on, though I seldom use it anymore. The fees depend on your starting price and how many add-ons you use, like a gallery photo or a subtitle and such. Selling a $10 item could cost you as little as .73 cents. But I always place a gallery photo and take PayPal, which in this case would more than double that. Here's a hypothetical breakdown: start price: $10, close price $10, no profit from shipping/handling. You pay .60 insertion fee + .53 final value fee + .74 PayPal fee. Thats $1.86 or or 19% of your $10 gross income. You'll pay a .60 fee if it does not sell. The profit margin gets much better on higher priced items, which is why I rarely sell anything for less than $25. Many people set their start prices to stay just under eBay's insertion fee jumps. That's why you'll see lots of start prices at .99, $9.99, 24.99, 49.99, etc.
Making Profit on Ebay?
Most people that make a profit on ebay make it now by reselling the same items over and over again. Then they don't have to type up a listing each time for each item, which can be very tedious. U can make money buying individual items locally and selling them international, but it isn't easy money. U have to work listing and shipping and such. And what sells on ebay changes daily. I had a item that 8 people has bid on the same item the week before, so I listed it. But then NO ONE bid on it even though I started the listing at .99 cents just like the other one did. It use to be that U could email bidders and tell them U had something, but there has been many changes on ebay, including that the lister can't leave feedback on the seller, so the seller can tell all kinds of lies. Selling on Craigslist is much easier, and U don't have to pay fees. But of course, items don't usually sell for as much. Finding what to sell is the most important start to selling on ebay or craigslist. I have seen people that don't know enough about a item and get half what it is worth because the list it wrong. That is usually how I buy on ebay and then resell on ebay or craigslist. By making money on peoples mistakes. I know that two people made a bunch of money by buying a large stock of certain items then sold it on ebay.
How to make a Profit Using Ebay?
Well I make all of money off ebay by listing items for my boss. Buy something cheap and try to sell it for way more. For example you could go to garage sell and buy something for 7 dollars and start bidding on that item for at 12 dollars so even if it gets one bid you make over a 30% profit. This could work for something even more expensive. Electronics and vehicle parts usually sell very well. My company takes antique tractors strips the parts off and sells them on ebay for a profit. They buy the tractors for around 200-700$ ea at auctions and they typically end up selling for 2000$+ so like a 125% profit. Also I won an auction on ebay that was a a brand new Alpine type E sub woofer for only 35.78 with shipping included. That brand new model should go for about 75-100$ online so i put it back up on ebay and made a 47$ profit when i sold it for around 83$. Going to expos that sell electronics in bulk for cheap is a good way to earn cash if you know what the product's resale value are on site. Buying used cars, taking them apart and selling them can make you tons of money if you know what to look for. My parents were kicking themselves in the face when I told them that the 1988 Buck Le Sabre they sold for 300$ was worth around 1700$ parted. Window wiper engines alone run for 50-150$ ea. So there are many ways to make money on ebay.
How does eBay make profit?
Ebay makes profit in a number of ways. First they charge the seller to list the item. They up this payment by offering add-on services, like the ability to have your item listed in bold or in an outlined box, or have more pictures listed with it, all to make your item stand out more. Then they take a cut of the amount that you sell it for. This is usually based on a varying percentage. X% for the first $300, a little lower % of the next $1000, and then an even lower % of the next however much. They also own paypal, which is the preferred payment method for ebay. So if the seller collects the money through paypal then they also take a cut of the money sent through paypal, on a similar varying fee schedule to the selling fees for ebay. Also, with paypal they offer a sub-market exchange rate, so if you're paying in different currencies, they are able to match up people who are looking for opposite currency exchanges (bob has dollars but needs to pay in euros, and bill has euros but needs to pay in dollars). They exchange both peoples money at worse than market rates, and since they handle the exchange internally, are able to keep the spread.

The standard profit on eBay for resellers is usually between 5–20%.If we take a 10% profit then you can make $100 from selling one expensive item for about $1000 or by selling 50 low priced items ($20 each). From my experience on eBay (9 years as a seller, winning eBay awards) it’s the same amount of work to find good products products and good cheap products so I would focus on searching the more expensive products to sell on eBay.The benefits of selling few expensive products vs many cheap products:Less time spent on customer serviceLess time spent on logistics (shipping one item per week vs. 50)With expensive products there’s less competition (it doesn’t mean that the competitors are weaker, on the contrary they will probably be stronger, more professional and it will force you to get better at this, which is a good thing)P.S if you find this helpful, would appreciate an upvote :)
