How Can I Make Myself Appear Older For Movie Theatre Employees

Can a 16-year-old watch an R rated movie?

I mean, it all depends on your maturity level and what the movie is rated R for.Movies can be rated R for dropping on F-bomb, and, in this day and age, there is no way a 16 year old has not heard that and worse obscenities several times a day.Another reason way movies can be rated R is for graphic violence/gore, in other words you see at least one guy get beheaded/chopped in half in clear view. Most 16 year olds should be able to handle this.More reasons for being rated R is substance abuse, ok, so the kid sees a actor/actress shooting up or smoking a blunt, it’s not gonna change the 16 year olds view on drugs, if he/she does not do drugs, a movie is not gonna convince them otherwise and vise versa. Another reason is nudity, which is the one really concerning point for a 16 year old watching R rated movies and when the maturity aspect of it comes in. For a movie to be rated R for nudity it, first of all its actually showing stuff, not like in PG-13 movies where everyones junk is covered but its implied they are naked. Also, it is going to be a reoccurring thing and/or in a sexual nature. So, it is really up to the parents to decide there, if you are ok with it and think your 16 year old is mature enough, sure, if not, nobody blames you, just choose a different movie or fast forward through the naked stuff. In the end, there are different movies which are rated R for different reasons, I saw saving Private Ryan and the benchwarmers (which I believe is rated R for the type of humor and language) all before I was 15, saving privet Ryan before I was 14 actually, But still have not seen nor want to see Fifty Shades of Grey and I am 17, so yeah, there are different types of R rated movies and its really up to the parents/the maturity of the kid.

Can 12 year olds see R movies with adults?

Yes, you can see it, as long as your dad is with you.

Also, if by that P.S. you were implying which is the harder R, Kick-*** or The Hangover, I'd say Kick-***. The Hangover has some sex jokes, lots of language, drug references, and some brief shots of nudity. Really not a big deal. Kick-*** is pretty crazy when it comes to violence and gore, there's plenty of language, one little tiny bit of drug use, and a few sexual stuff (implied sex and masturbation, brief shot of breasts on a computer screen, other mild references).

By the way, all you people who are saying "you shouldn't be watching those movies at that age" need to be quiet. The child's own parents should be the judge of that, not you. And be honest; you know you saw the same type of stuff when you were a child.

Can a minor watch an R rated movie with a parents permission?

Yes - buying the ticket and getting you in the theatre is the key. Please read the newest guidelines the movie industry came out with this year:

Here is the Movie access guidelines theatres use today:
In the United States, the Motion Picture Association of America issues ratings for movies. The system was instituted in November 1968 and is voluntary; however, most movie theater chains will not show unrated domestic films and most major studios have agreed to submit all titles for rating prior to theatrical release.

The ratings as they exist in 2008 are:

UNRESTRICTED
G - General Audiences - All ages admitted. There is no content that would be objectionable to most parents.
PG - Parental Guidance Suggested - Some material may not be suitable for children. These films may contain some mild language, crude humor, thematic elements, sexual themes, scary moments and/or violence. No drug content is present.

PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. These films contain sexual content, nudity (partial), language, humor, mature themes, terror and/or intense action violence. Bloodshed is rarely present.

RESTRICTED
R - Restricted - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult 17 or older with photo ID. These films may contain strong profanity, graphic sexuality or nudity, strong violence, scariness, and/or gore, and drug use.

NC-17 - No one 17 and under is admitted - These films contain a lot of graphic violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse, strong language, or any other elements which, when present, most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children and teens.

OTHERS
NR or Not Rated - NR is not an official MPAA rating. It is used for independent or foreign films that are in limited release and have not been submitted to the MPAA for a rating classification. It is also used by a film that is soon to be released and has trailers out for promotional purposes, but has not yet received a final rating. Advertisements for films with a pending rating contain the notice "This film is not yet rated".
