Important question about a son of pre-Civil War abolitionist, John Brown.?

I keep reading conflicting information about one of John Brown's sons, Salmon. One report I read, his birthdate is in 1836 and he joined his father and brothers in the Pottawatomie Massacre. Another source, however, tells me that Salmon Brown was born in 1856, the same year as the Massacre.
When I was still in school (I've since graduated and am finished for the summer), one of my teachers told me to never trust a site for its truths unless it was a .edu. The problem with this is both of the sites with conflicting birth years are .edu's.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

What are some interesting books for a young adult / teenager to read?

Try Nokosee: Rise of the New Seminole (http://bit.ly/Nokosee) and its sequel Nokosee & Stormy (http://amzn.to/fqOoph). Both are written from a 17-year-old girl's POV and they come with lots of action and adventure as the teenage protagonist struggles as a Native American trying to live in both a traditional world and a modern world while buying into the idea that an eco-war is the way to save the environment, to wrest the Everglades from civilization and to restore it to its rightful owners, the New Seminoles.

Cherry by Mary Karr. A memoir about teens, sex, drugs and growing up in rural Texas as told through the gritty, beautiful prose of one of America's best writers having taught at Harvard and currently teaching as the Peck Professor of English Literature at Syracuse University. It's a book every teen girl should read. If the opening paragraph doesn't do it for you, nothing will (you can read it on the Amazon link below). I've also supplied you a link to her Harper Collins website where you can see the author describe her life in a revealing teaser for her new book "Lit."

The Liar's Club by Mary Karr. Another moving memoir recounting her earlier years (you should probably read this one first and then Cherry).

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. A moving story inspired by true events about the suicides of five teenage sisters as told from the viewpoint (for the most part) of randy teenage boys who try to explain it all.

I Never Promised You A Rose Garden by Joanne Greenberg. A critically appraised and touching semi-autobiographical story of a 16-year-old girl battling schizophrenia in a mental hospital.

How con I get published if I'm under ?

I'm writing a book and I posted it on this website Inkpop.com.I know that if I publish the whole thing I won't be able to get published and I'm not planning to put the whole thing on there. My friends have all read it and they said it's really good and they think it should be published. I didn't post the whole thing yet but I'm close to finishing. I want my future career to be a writer. I'm only in 8th grade and I've already made a list of collages to go to to become a writer. In school we read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and she was in high school when that was published so that inspired me further. But how could I get published? Will any publishing company take me seriously even though I'm only in 8th grade?

Here's the link if you want to read it.(please?)
