I have lived in the same apartment for over 24 years in Bronx, NY. My unit is rent stabilized. I got a letter from management that the building will be undergoing renovations. The letter stated new roofing, new bricks on building, new building doors and new windows in our apartments. The letter stated that "rent stabilized units will be have an increase in their rents because of these renovations". The renovations will take 9 months to a year and will start this summer. My lease expires this September, 2013 and my rent will go up anyway. So I am wondering how much additional percentage it will go up after these renovations? Thanks.

Depends very much on your skills and circumstance.When I was a student at university (1997–2001) I used to target raising £3–4k saved over the summer by working two jobs… I would work in factories in the day (holiday cover, picking and packing, tool stores) and then at night I would work shifts behind the bar in the local working men’s club. It meant working from 8am-4pm and then from 6pm to 11:30pm 5 days a week, with extra bar shifts at weekends. I was living at home with parents so had no rent or food to buy or bills. But this was also at a time of no minimum wage, so the bar work was about £3.50/hr! I did spend a fair bit on beer too, but even with low skilled work you can raise the money if you are committed, cut back your outgoings totally.Obviously, if you can get higher skilled work the amount of time you have to put in is less!

So ask yourself - who is already inspired by the work we're doing, and is in a position to support us with a $10,000 cheque?

You can try to get a part time job at a local store or restaurant, this will generate a little income but it isnt gonna be very much. Your looking at a pay check thats about 140 dollars, but you will be exempt from taxes. However, its a good start because its money you know you can get, being successful with a youtube channel from the start is as risky as trying to get into the NBA. BUT! You can fund your own channel and start spending money that you have earned from a part time job into your channel to increase appeal and advertising. You should start to see some pay off in about a month or so depending how wisely you spend your money. i.e paying an artist to make a good intro, better mics, better web cams, other stuff. Im assuming that you are mostly focused on your youtube channel, so to build it up, I would focus on advertisement and building a community. This is why people like pewdiepie are successful, he didnt get successful by being a good gamer, (definitely not!) he was wise and pretty brilliant about what he wanted to do. He saw that pre teens are the most common user of youtube (at the time) and marketed towards them (with a huge pay off. I think hes a millionaire). Not to mention his bro fist community or whatever its called, its ICONIC. This is what youtubers are fighting for, something iconic and marketable. Being popular on youtuber takes not just luck, but a lot of wit. If you want to learn, dont just learn from the best, learn from the worst, learn from their mistakes. Chances are, your not gonna be making 10 grand in a month, but its worth a shot.
