How Can I Save Up To Get My Little Sister An American Girl Doll

Which American Girl Doll should i get?

Even though I don't own Marie-Grace, Cécile, or Emily, I felt compelled to give a response due to the poor quality of answers given by the first two respondents : /

I would go for Molly and Emily for three main reasons: 1) They will likely be retired soon, and you may miss your chance to buy them, whereas Marie-Grace and Cécile are brand new and will probably be sold for many more years (giving you the chance to save money to buy them eventually). 2) You prefer Molly and Emily's clothes, and it may not seem quite as fun dressing Marie-Grace and Cécile in clothes that are inconsistent with their stories and time period. 3) Cécile's hair - while very cute - looks hard to style because the curls may be difficult to preserve if she has an active play life. Molly's hair may also be a pain, as you will have to unbraid it if you hope to style it; but although crimpy, it should be easy to style after her hair has been undone. This may decrease her monetary value, but it's the only thing to do if you want to enjoy styling her hair.

Alternatively, if you don't mind not having a true set, you could purchase Emily and Cécile since you are more fond of the Emily doll than the Molly doll and since Cécile is unique in that she's African American (and very cute!). Or you could purchase Emily and Marie-Grace and pretend that Marie-Grace is Molly since they are similar in appearance, with Marie-Grace arguably being the more attractive doll. You could even buy your Marie-Grace glasses or Molly/Emily outfits to make it more authentic. (Although bear in mind that Molly can definitely be made more attractive by losing the '40s circle glasses and letting her pigtails down to form pretty waves.)

It's hard to give you solid advice on this since it's ultimately up the the buyer. What do you envision making yourself the happiest? If you feel compelled to buy Molly and Emily because they're likely to retire soon but actually prefer the other two, then perhaps buying Marie-Grace and Cécile would actually be your best option, if you don't believe you would regret it. You could then save up money to buy Molly and Emily clothes to dress them in (maybe on eBay). There are tons of possibilities.

Best of luck in your decision!

If my 14-year-old daughter is still into American Girl dolls, should I be worried?

American Girl dolls are collector’s items. I still got collectible Barbies into my teenage years — hell, I still have some. They’re decorations, not something I actually played with once I hit high school. I had zero interest in ‘teenage’ things, which my mother was actually relieved by. She’d rather I have dolls than want to go out and smoke pot behind the school building.14 isn’t unduly old to still be into dolls, though. I was, as were many of my friends; it was something that fell by the wayside when we started high school. Your daughter will almost certainly lose interest in playing with them soon enough, and just keep them as part of a collection. Hell, those things can be pretty valuable, provided they’re in good condition. My daughter is 20, and has a small collection of Monster High dolls on stands on one of her bookshelves. I have a shelf with some Lord of the Rings action figures on it. A friend of mine collects Hello Kitty…everything. There’s no rule that says you can’t have things like that once you’re past childhood. You should be glad she’s into dolls, given how awful some of the alternatives could be. Better she want a doll than a push-up bra.

Is 13 too old for American Girl Dolls??

I love my dolls. I am a thirteen year old girl and I have a 12 year old sister. I am really embarrassed that I still was to buy them outfits and go to the store. My two best friends are petrified of dolls or either hate them. A couple of months ago I asked my mom if I could buy a dress from American Girl for my doll. She said that we should discuss it as a family and she said that I was way to old. That was when I was 12. Am I too old?

Is age 14 too old to love American Girl Dolls?

NO!!!!!! Why give up something you love? If you enjoy playing and collecting American Girl things then why give it up. That's like giving up happiness. If your friends think its weird then find some new friends who love you for who you are(even if you play American Girl dolls). Your age shouldn't define what toys you can play with. My 17 year old cousin still plays barbies so why can't you play american girls?

Is age 14 too old to play with American Girl Dolls?

So I am turing 14, and I still love playing with my American Girl Dolls. My sister thinks I should give them up, but I really love and play with them all the time. So my question is, is 14 too old to play with American Girl Dolls?

How do I preserve my american girl dolls for my children?

The best thing you can do is use the original packaging that the dolls and accessories came in.

If not, there are glass or clear plastic cases that can be used. These are similar to what sports memorabilia is kept in, but it's mainly for display.

You could invest in a Curio Cabinet, but it is mainly for display.

If your going to store them, then I would suggest that you use plastic wrap, bubble wrap, plastic bag or trash bag to store them in before you place them into a chest or box. Seal the bag the best you can, so that pests and other things do not invade the American Girl Dolls.

I wouldn't use newspaper because the print could rub off onto the doll or the doll clothes.

Will you bring your daughter to American Girl Place, or buy an American Girl Doll, after reading this?

I own 9 AG dolls, never went to the Place, but I'm apalled.

I can't handle my little sister anymore. What should I do?

I'm 16, she's 8. So obviously we don't argue over little things or anything like that. The problem is how immature she is.
She screams as loud as she can and throws tantrums over the littlest things, multiple times a day.
She tries to bother me constantly, like the other day I wake up and I got a bagel from burgers, she eats it. I don't usually say anything to her. But it bothers me tha my parents don't say anything either. If I do say anything my parents say its not my place and they can handle her. I really like my parents and everything but I don't get why they treat her this way.
My parents got me a $9,000 Rolex for my birthday last year. The other day, she asked wha classes I'm taking. I told her I was taking 4 honors classes and she got mad (she gets jealous even though she's 8 and doesn't have the option to take those classes) and kicks my watch and broke the glass. The of course she screams and yells and my parents get mad at me! When I explained to them what happened, they didn't do anything. It's a $300 repair and my sister has that (she's saving up to buy some $500 American girl doll) and I think she should have to pay at least part of it. My parents won't pay for it. I don't think I should have to, not that I have the money anyway... It's been like a week since it broke and I brought it up for the first time since she broke it. My dad starts screaming at me saying I never let anything go! My Rolex is broken! It's not ever gonna repair itself.. It's not like I'm pissed off all day. I just want it fixed. I don't mean to sound stuck up or anything, I'm extremely lucky to get such a nice thing in the first place, but it's not that bad to be upset about it, right?

Right now my dad is screaming right now about how much he hates me and how everything is my fault. How I instigate my sister and make her mad and it's my fault the watch broke. My parents and i are really close, we can talk about everything except when my sister is involved. Then all of a sudden I'm the bad guy. Why is it so ridiculous that I want to get my watch fixed? My sister causes all these problems between me and my parents and its like she's loving every minute of it.

I don't know what to do...
Should I really just drop it and forget about the watch? Am I being ridiculous?
Why are my parents like this? Is this gonna go on until I leave for college in 2 years?

Thank you very much for reading that. And for your help.
