How Can I Stay Awake During School

How do you stay focused and awake during and after a rigorous school day?

1. Make sure you get enough sleep. Take a cool shower in the morning to wake you up and keep you awake during the day.2. If you're tired when you wake up or after school, go out for a run or something like that. You'll get a rush of adrenaline and it'll give you a boost.

How do I stay awake in school after an all-nighter?

I find myself in exactly your position all the time, and like you said some people may say "some sleep is better then none" in my opinion that is ball, going to sleep at 4:00, then getting up a few hours feels worse in my opinion

What I usually do is just stick it out, stay awake, go to school, and while I'm at school I try to buy every energy increasing drink I can find
But regardless of what you do I can almost guarantee that by noon you're going to want to sleep to just fall to the ground and sleep :p

All nighters on school nights really do just require pure will-power, pull through the day, and you'll be fine (and after that have the best night sleep you've ever experienced)

How to stay awake after school?

Try an energy drink or coffee. Be sure to eat breakfast or if you really don't have the time, eat a lot on recess. Try not going to your sofa straightaway after class. Exercise or do something stimulating then FORCE yourself to sleep at the right times (10pm to 6am?). Pretty soon you will be used to that time and your problem will be solved. Only discipline is required.

How do I stay awake during class?

So these days I have a lot of homework. (I'm in my sophmore year of high school).
I'm taking one AP (advanced placement) class (history), and 2 honors classes (english and chemistry) out of my total of 8 classes out of 8. Some "free-ish" classes I have are all band. Like marching band and symphonic band, along with P.E. (physical education).
Marching band takes up a loooooooooooot of time.
You have to like get up at 5:30 am everyday (if you're sluggish in the mornings) or 5:50 am (so that I can get some sleep), and get to school by 7:00 am.
And then after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have afternoon practice from 4pm-6pm or 6:30pm. (School ends at like 3:30pm, but I have to get ready, aka use bathroom, put on sunscreen, etc, eat a small snack, get instrument, etc).
So I don't have much time to do homework.
Which means that I don't get much time to sleep, because I sleep at like 12:45am now.
Which also means I don't get much sleep and so I tend to doze off in my classes.
Luckily, marching band in the morning usually wakes me up for periods 1,2.
3 period I have P.E., so that helps as well.
So I survive 3,4 periods.
Then lunch.
Well, you know how they say to eat a lot during lunch so you can have enough energy, which I do. (I buy food from the cafeteria, which is usually a cheeseburger with fries).
5 period, after lunch, I'm still awake-ish. (mostly because I love this french class).
6 period is the problem. I guess my stomach has used up a lot of energy from digesting and also lack of sleep and also long lectures about chemistry stuff builds up to my dozing off in class.
What's worse is that I actually need to stay awake during those lectures, because if I don't then I'll miss out on valuable information.
So basically, I need some help/ ideas for me to stay awake during classes (specifically chem).
Thank you so much, and sorry for all the information I'm typing out.

Have any tips on staying awake during a boring class?

It never fails. Whether I've had 10 hours of sleep, two Venti Vanilla Lattes, my professors monotone voices, drag me into la la land. How do you stay awake?

I’m in high school. How do I stay awake in my classes?

Go to bed by 10, do NOT use any electronics past 10pm, read a book until you doze off. Do not have caffeine past 3pm, just have on cup of tea/coffee in the morning to get you going, eat protein breakfast and lunch for the brain to work the best - include good fats like avocado and coconut. This wasn’t precisely what you were expecting, I’m sure, but is based on my observation of students. In case you are thinking of being bored and dozing off then I suggest staying busy by taking lots of notes and writing all the questions down that you can think of that would have made the lecture or activity more interesting. For example, I used to get tired of hearing about history - all men, presidents, kings, wars; zzzzzz. So I would wonder about the daily lives of the women and children while all this ‘history’ was happening.

How do I keep awake at school?

We prob need more information on what “school” is and how your sleep habits are before we can actually answer. For instance, if you’re talking about during very large lectures in college, vs a smaller classroom in high school.I would completely agree wtih Kenneth that it’s likely your sleep habits should be looked at. There are tons of answers on how to improve your sleep hygiene, so I won’t answer that, but will try to at least propose some answers to treating your symptom (getting sleepy at school) while you look into your sleep habits.Try to participate moreAsk questionsSit closer to the front if possiblePrepare for class by doing all of the homework so you can actually participateTake notesFocus on the foods you eat. I’m not an expert in this area, but definitely eat a full healthy breakfast, and avoid foods rich in standard sugar/sucrose.If it’s possible, do some breathing exercises before class to calm your mind so it doesn’t wander to other things during the lesson if that is one of your problems.Related to taking notes, write the notes rather than typing if you use a laptop. It’s been proven that writing notes helps with memory of what you’re taking notes on.This is harder and depends on the school you’re in, but take classes that fully interest you.Provide some more details and we can give a better answer!Hope you get some rest and do well in school!MM

What's the best way to stay awake during math classes?

1.Take notes by hand
When you take notes on a laptop, you tend to be much less focused, because typing is much more automatic. You also finish faster and sometimes drift off (or start IMing people). Taking notes by hand is slower, so it makes you focus on keeping up with the lecture.

2.Eat healthy snacks
Eating a snack—especially carbs and proteins—can help energize you. I liked taking a bag of healthy cereal like Cheerios to my very early or very late classes. I would eat the cereal one piece at a time—the carbs plus the act of making myself take one at a time really helped me stay awake. If you need a burst of energy, try eating fruit like sliced apples or grapes instead of a candy bar. Junk food, obviously, is not a good option. Apple is a good choice as it's much better than coffee imo.

3.Drink water
Dehydration can really wipe you out, so bring a water bottle to class with you. Neither soda nor alcohol (which is very dehydrating) is a good substitute for water to keep your body hydrated.

4.Get interested in the lecture
Ok i know math sucks but it's just so important. A lot of your interest in a lecture is effected by your attitude. If you go in thinking it’s going to be boring, you’ll probably be bored. Even if you’re taking a required class, try to get interested in the lecture each day; it will help you stay alert. Try to learn at least three things you didn’t know, and tell someone about them after class. It might sound kind of lame, but it will help you stay awake and learn.

5.Find a less-comfortable place to sit.
It says it all.=D

Happy math class!

How can I stay awake in a long lecture?

Take notes. Do it by hand, with pencil and paper.Write down everything you know about this topic and what you would like to know.If there isn’t much content, just the lecturer saying the same thing over and over, start picking out repetitive phrases and keeping count of how often the lecturer says them. One of my friends in grad school did this and created a frequency distribution and did some statistical analyses. If you’re doing this on paper, you look industrious and interested. You will also have something to refer to when you study, whereas if you sleep, you will miss things.Take slow deep breaths. Drink water. Make sure you are well hydrated because dehydration can cause drowsiness. Before or during a lecture, don’t take medications that cause drowsiness. If there are breaks, get up and go outdoors or at least walk around the building.

Why can't i stay awake when i get home after school.?

I am the exact same way. I have a part time job so I stay home some days and I used to sleep all day and then stay up all night. When I got home from work I would go to sleep right away and wake up at 10pm and stay up until 2am and then be too tired.

Do you tend to stay up late on the weekends? Usually if you change your sleep schedule, it throws you off so you get more tired when you actually have to go to school and out of the house on the weekdays, causing you to be exhausted, because your body isn't used to doing anything.

Try stay up until 10pm and then falling asleep. This will help you stay asleep and get your 8 or so hours of sleep. If you sleep too early, it's obvious that you'll wake up, stay up at night and then be too tired the next day.
