How Can I Stop Annoying Adverts At The Right Side Of My Emails Page

Annoying adverts on right side of screen in Yahoo Mail Beta.?

I don't know how to turn them off, but there are ways to block them! Read on:

STOP THE AT&T YAHOO AD ONSLAUGHT!!

I was so annoyed by Yahoo ads I spent one week trying to disable them.

For the AT&T Yahoo browser, Kill the Popup. Here's the link http://www.killthepopup.com/
A Pando icon appears in your system tray. Click on it and set your proxy settings for Internet Explorer (i.E.) The AT&T Yahoo browser relies on I.E. for its functionality. Although the ad coding remains, the ad is gone!

For Internet Explorer, the I.E. 7 Pro add-on. Here's the link http://www.ie7pro.com/
To select the Ad Blocker settings, click on the I.E. Pro icon, which appears on your I.E. Toolbar.

Finally, I switched to Modzilla Firefox and set my home page to
http://dsl.sbc.yahoo.com/ which allowed me to acess my AT%T Yahoo mail. I tried the Modzilla add-on, AdBlockPlus, but it disabled some content on my home page, so I deleted it!

For ads I selected in Modzilla Firefox, I right-clicked on the ad and chose the block option, which whited out the ad. If I wanted to see it (although I can't imagine why!), I right-clicked again, chose 'select all' and
clicked on the blue box, which appeared in the upper-left corner. If it didn't take me to the web site, I chose 'open link in a new window'. You can also disable 'external site images' and 'all images' in Firefox, depending on your preferences.

You might say, I am the 'no ad Advocate'. Cheers!

How do I stop annoying ads on my email page?

I've repeatedly asked Yahoo about this, and I'm being ignored, except for the suggestion to get Ad-Block Plus--an additional charge to using their search engine.
I have a seizure disorder, and anyone familiar with this, also knows the testing a person goes through, to diagnose the condition.
When the ads in that ad strip change every seven seconds, the images in the ads also change. This is the equivalent of the strobe light in the testing for gran mal seizures, and after a "session" on Yahoo, I walk away from the computer, and within half an hour, I'm subjected to a series of petit mal seizures for one hour, that are un-nerving and dangerous should I be at the top of a flight of stairs when it happens. I get no warning, when these are about to happen. At the bottom of that flight of stairs, is a concrete floor. Some people would say, "Carpet the floor," but that is beyond my control.
Having the use of the Internet isn't a privilege--it's a necessity.
Using a computer shouldn't become a health hazard, but using a search engine that forces these ads on you which, as someone else stated, is your choice and there is an alternative. I have tried the alternatives, but I return to Yahoo because the others aren't to my liking. Clicking on the little arrow on the side of the screen to "temporarily remove the ads" isn't good enough. When one clicks on the arrow, and that ad disappears, it's as though Yahoo is saying, "OK, well if you didn't like this ad, then maybe you'll like this one!" and the colour and images change.
It's those changes that make the Brain react, by increasing the electrical activity within, and there is a "short circuit", and that's when the seizures come on. Maybe Yahoo was not aware of this?
I like Yahoo--as does most of my Family--but I may have to switch if this problem isn't corrected.
I'm quite sure I'm not the only one with epilepsy, that uses a computer in their daily lives!

You can also pay for premium mail service from Yahoo. In your mail account, you can click on the settings sprocket in the right hand side and select "ad free mail" from the pull down box. It is 49.99/yr. Also, at my job the pop-up blocker they have installed prevents the ads from loading. I have tried ad blocking software always with the result that something else gets blocked or affected. So I have learned to live with it. Maybe someone can start a petition to Yahoo to move the ads or make them less annoying.

They can't be stopped. Use Adblock Plus to hide them.

How to stop the right side ads in yahoo mail screen?

By the way, NEVER ever try to close a pop-up by clicking the red X - that usually adds a perpetuating cookie to repeat the same ad. Click Alt and F4 at the same time to close a pop-up safely, each time your screen is blocked with one.

Although pop-ups and other ads help pay for free sites like Yahoo, they are a bother to us all. Block ALL pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, and other ads FOREVER with add-ons for any site and any browser:

(for Windows users:)
For Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera
http://www.admuncher.com/ OR
http://adblockie.codeplex.com/ (for I.E. 8)

For Firefox, install 'Adblock Plus':
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=AdBlock+Plus&cat=all
(Also consider Flashblock and NoScript for more blocking and security.)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=Flashblock&cat=all
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=NoScript&cat=all

(for Mac users:)

For the problem of recurring web cookies for advertising from many sites, go to the following site, register, and follow the steps. It scans for perpetuating cookies, removes them, and blocks a long list of other potential nuisances.

How do I get rid of the advertisements on the right hand side of my screen (while I'm looking at emails)?

Some time ago Yahoo had technical problems and accidentally placed a script in the box on the YA pages instead of the flash ads normally displayed. That's when I found out that adyield-manager and bluelithium is used to place personalized ads - both use cookies to track your browsing habits, so you may get a different ad displayed than somebody sitting right next to you. That prompted me to look for solutions since I don't like to get spied upon, and I found several good solutions...

Click tools in your top bar -> click "Internet Options" -> click "Security" tab -> click on "Restricted Sites" -> click "Sites", type in the following two sites:
http://ads.bluelithium.com/
http://ad.yieldmanager.com/
That should take care of most of those ads.

Other possibilities...

Download and install the latest Firefox browser:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Install "adblock plus":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

Result: no more annoying ads! And pages are loading much quicker too...:-)

http://www.admuncher.com/ - this adblocker for the IE (and other browsers) gets highly recommended in several forums.

I for one have the Firefox installed and don't see a single ad on the Yahoo pages...:-)

Can one get rid of the advertisement banner on the right hand side of the newest version of Yahoo mail?

Hi A -

While it is not currently possible to remove the ads for free accounts in Yahoo! Mail, you can now temporarily hide the advertisement that appears on the right side of your Yahoo! Mail window. Click the narrow gray strip between your inbox and the advertisement. This hides the ad from view while you stay on the page. Once you refresh the page or visit another Yahoo! Mail page, another ad appears.

There is not currently a way to hide the full-page ads that appear when you empty a folder, or on the Sent Confirmation page.

Please note that Yahoo! Mail is made available in part by the advertising you view while using our site. While it is our utmost goal to choose ads that are pleasing to all users, we understand this may not be the case at all times and apologize for any frustration this may cause.

If you would like to remove all graphical ads and advertising links from your mailbox, you can sign up for Yahoo! Mail Plus, our premium service, if it is available in your region.

Thank you for choosing to use Yahoo!

nope - I kinda like it actually - exemplifies how certain types of mentalities actually think about things - “yeah but it’s different”, “mine is good, yours stinks” - “all men are created equal, but some are created more equal than others”, “right side and wrong side of the tracks”, “democrats and republicans”, “democracy and communism” and so on, It’s ALL THE SAME COIN, you CAN’T Cash in on Lincoln’s Monument And STILL Keep Lincoln’s Head in your pocket; THAT’S The Twix Commercial, SAME COOKIE POURED AT THE SAME TIME WRAPPED AT THE SAME TIME FROM THE SAME MACHINE But “The Left” And “The Right”, “Conservative & Liberal” EACH got VANITY That Stands in the way of their IDENTICAL TWIN BIRTH and that Vanity Extends Right “down the line” EACH Seeing THEMSELVES AS ‘Evil’ in the ‘other’s’ existence. It’s a very interesting Scientific “experiment” you can try for yourself doing Ethnographic Research; “dress” “like a democrat” and “speak” like a “republican” and then “dress” “like a republican” and “speak” like a “democrat” - NOBODY Can Tell the difference in WHAT’S Being Said because the same exact things are being said and the only difference is “the cut of the clothes” “saying” it.Commercial that CURRENTLY Pisses me off the “Liberty Mutual” “I’m a stupid moron jerk that’s got more money than brains so I need an Agent to Sell me overpriced policies so I can DELIBERATELY Cause Wrecks and MAKE MONEY! YAY!”The old “Geico” “Cave Man” Commercials ALSO Pissed me off - “Cave Man” is “safe”, “neegra”, “kyke”, “spic”, “mic”, “gerry”, “gook” and so on would be too easy to “catch” even by the folks so ignorant they don’t catch “cave man” AS THE GENERIC CATCH ALL for ALL the Racial and Intelligence Epithets Ever devised and ever TO BE devised. This might oughta make for a nice ‘dedicated’ thread, btw! Do ‘layfolk’ “pick up” on the stuff more ‘sublimely’ covered in AdAge:)
