How Can I Stop Over Eating

How do you stop binge eating?

I have been dealing with this constant eating for more than a month now. It's beginning to get really bad and I eat non-stop almost every day. I felt so full and sick but I just can't seem to stop stuffing myself with food. I can't control myself when it comes to food. I'm starting to gain a lot of weight. I have been trying to get help but nothing seems to work. I do eat a large breakfast and lunch. But when it's dinner time, I start to completely binge out and eat what ever I see. Please help, food is always on my mind and I can't to find a distraction. I'm trying my best to control myself right now. I feel so gross and disappointed in myself..

How to stop overeating?

The way to stop overeating is to try first to figure out what is triggering it. Some people overeat because they are anxious and they use food as a sedative. Others overeat because they are bored and use food almost as a distraction from life. Either way, you have to self-analyze to try to get to the bottom of the reason you are overeating. Then, once you get to that reason, you can develop alternative ways to soothe yourself or calm your self down or find entertainment.

How do I stop overeating?

I'm 21 and I have a problem with eating too much. It's not during my meals but at the end of the day right before I go to sleep. I would eat random snacks and make my stomach really full. I think it's an emotional thing because I'm having problems with school and where my life is going. I feel like I'm behind in life and I don't like the way I look, I also feel really empty inside. So I eat a lot to get some satisfaction. What should I do?

How do I stop stress eating? I’m 18 and I’ve been gaining some weight. I’ve always been a stress eater, but I used to be one of those people who could eat a lot and not gain weight.

Parts of this answer are taken from here: (Tina Huynh's answer to How could you self-cure bulimia?)I, too, know how you feel. I used to eat until my stomach was so stretched that it would hurt to stand upright. And even when I was at this point, I wanted to continue eating... and most of the time I did. Here are some steps that I took to stop my binging:I stopped dieting. I know this is difficult for someone with an eating disorder but this is a necessary step to recovery. You have to learn to declassify foods as good or bad. No food is inherently good or inherently bad. You have CHOSEN to classify those foods that way. Don't listen to yourself. Allow yourself to eat. Once your brain knows that it's allowed to eat whatever it wants, it suddenly doesn't want to eat EVERYTHING as soon as it gets a taste of "bad" food. There are no off limits food. This is really important.I dropped the all or nothing mindset. Just because you had ONE cookie doesn't mean your day is ruined and now you might as well eat another twelve. Just because you made one mistake doesn't mean your whole life is a failure. Just because you ate one all-vegetable meal doesn't mean you are a vegetarian. We have good days and we have bad days. Acknowledge the bad day, accept it as it is and move on. One small misstep will not make a difference in the long run.I celebrated all of my victories, no matter how small. Did you drink eight glasses of water today? That's a win. Did you remember to floss today? Win! Did you choose to eat broccoli instead of french fries? Major win! Celebrate. Everything.I stopped rewarding myself with food. If you've had a stressful day and you immediately walk to the fridge when you get home... STOP THAT. Go shopping instead. Get a massage. Call a friend you love talking to. Find other ways to reward yourself. Food is not the reward. If you’d like more information, check out my nutrition/dieting blog at How to Stop Dieting

Help, I can't stop overeating.?

Whatever you do, do not believe Andrew, who states that increasing caffeine will stimulate your appetite and won't make you hungry.
If your appetite is stimulated - YOU'LL BE HUNGRY!

You are away from home, in a new environment, have no one to police what you eat and when and are under some stress, leaving home for school.

Even "good" stress (excited about starting school or a new life on your own) can cause you to overeat. Have sensible snacks (fruit, popcorn without butter, unsalted nuts like almonds or cashews - eaten in moderation) and drink plenty of water. Stay away from sodas (diet or otherwise) and if you want a little flavor in your water, try Crystal Light flavor packets. They are sold 10 to a box in the grocery store where other Crystal Light products are sold. You can get them in a variety of flavors such as Peach Iced Tea, Raspberry, Lemonade, Berry, etc.

Walk as much as you can around campus during the day and keep your mind occupied with your school work and studying. Good luck.

I love food. How do I stop overeating?

I have exactly the same problem! You know what, don't put the food in front of you. If its not there you can't eat it. Loving food doesn't mean we should abuse it. Anyway, just tell yourself you won't eat it and try not to give in. Best of luck :-)

I work out 3-6 days a week at a moderate to hard intensity and do weights and cardio. I feel like I am in decent shape except I just can't shed this layer of fat because I overeat at night.
