Why is Audible.com so expensive? Who controls the prices: Amazon, the authors or the publishers?
It’s ridiculously expensive. Sorry, but there’s no comparison with a physical book. There are lots of royalty-free books I can download, podcasts, etc. Why even buy anything from Audible?I love books. I owned a bookstore. I have over 3,000 physical books and many hundred on my Kindle.If they were smart, they would start a streaming service so you can listen to books once for a nominal fee.

I'm 17, so some of those things might interest you, and if you have a pinterest you could search for christmas lists of teen girls and follow them for good ideas. If you get a camera, ask for a SLR. All of the point and shoots are the same, but you can do a lot with the DSLRs. They are definitely more expensive, but worth it in the long-run if you are willing to take good care of it. Nikon is the best brand. Try asking for a charm bracelet, they are so IN right now, and you could get a soccer charm and a dog charm or two :) I love accessories, so I always ask for like twelve necklaces and scarves and just random stuff that i don't have that I know I would use. You could ask for new shoes for soccer or a nike sports bag. My signature perfume is Coach. I rrecommendyou find out what you like and stick to the one. Then people can smell you when you're coming and they tend to relate that sense to you. It makes people psychologically attracted to you... well i read that somewhere lol Ask your parents to donate to ASPCA for you. Headbands are another signature of mine, so I always ask for a ton in fourteen different colors and styles. If you have a certain thing you really like ask for a bunch of them. I started a TY Beanie Boo collection when I was 15. I got six my first christmas. I'm now up to eighteen. Have a favorite tv series? I ask for mine on dvd even after I've seen all the seasons, just because I want to be able to go back and watch whenever I want to. Ask for some books or magazine subscriptions for your kindle. List something thats a nice brand. Not Abercrombie nice, its so overrated among us teens and honestly their materials are very basic (not bashing I have A&F on my wishlist but thats my hinest opinion of them lol) But I got my first pair of Uggs my freshman year and they are great because they have a lifetime warranty. If anything happens to them you can email them and send them back and you can get a brand-new pair of equal value. Or ask for a Tiffany key. Or Toms which benefit a good cause. How can I write a book with supernatural stuff without it being cliche/superficial? One of my favorite plots is from the TV show Teen Wolf, because it started with two best friends looking for a body in the woods.
Do the same thing Teen Wolf did. Start with the characters. Not just the heroes, do the same for the antagonists (one of the great things TW did was make the monsters into relateable characters - the villein is often the hero of their own story) . Who are they? How do they know each-other? How long have they known each-other. What do they do when they’re not being supernatural? - Write all of this out in a notebook or something.Then come up with an interesting location, maybe find somewhere in the real world with an interesting history that you can play off of. Work out how your supernatural occurrences fit into the history of this place. Have they been here all along manipulating from the shadows? (At this point you’ll want to have an idea of what supernaturals you’re going to use) Are the creatures drawn here by something (a-la Beacon Hills)? Maybe all of the above. - Again, write it down.Do a bunch of research/notes into the supernatural creatures you want to use, thinking about how they would relate to the town, how the supernatural powers would play into their personalities.Now come up with a central mystery or “plot question” (or a handful of them) and how these are going to effect your Main Characters. If the MC doesn’t have any stakes then why are the involved?Author Jim Butcher describes plotting as “making good characters, chasing them up a tree and throwing rocks at them, and then setting the tree on fire”So take everything you’ve got written down and work out how it all fits together. Maybe use post-its and a whiteboard or just go full on Stiles’ murder wall. Tie your protagonist, your antagonist, your location all back into your main story questions.Then go on to develop your plot. This can be as simple as list of scenes or story beats.Now you’ve got your story mapped out you just need to sit down and write.
