How Can I Tell How Much Memory My Computer Gateway Has Available

Memory for a Gateway GT5026E Desktop Computer?

The motherboard for the Gateway GT5026E is the Intel® (Cortez) 945G that supports up to 4 GBs of DDR2 667, DDR2 533, or DDR2 400 MHz DIMMs. For best results I would recommend 2 GBs or more of whichever speed you have installed. The DIMMs are usually labeled, so you will have to open your case and see what you have. Or, buy two 1 GB DDR2 667 DIMMs (fastest supported) and remove what you have.

It also has One ×16 PCI Express, One ×1 PCI Express and Two PCI slots. So PCI-e x16 video cards should work okay for you.

However, some of the high end video cards require that you have a minimum of a 400 watt power supply. So when you check your memory, also check the label on the power supply unit before buying to see if you have enough capacity. If not, then you may have to upgrade the PSU (ATX form factor) as well.

How to upgrade hdd memory of my gateway nv73?

You want to upgrade your hard drive on a laptop. I don't think that will be easy. You would have to check with gateway and see if a bigger hard drive is available for your model computer. I would think that it would not be cheap. It looks like your model desktop has a 320 gb or 500 gb hard drive available.
So I guess you will have to go to support at gateway and find out if its possible to upgrade, your computer, and the big question how much would it cost.

Gateway Profile 3 Memory Upgrade?

one of my relatives has a Gateway Profile 3 computer that he is trying to put some additional memory in.

http://support.gateway.com/support/manlib/Profile/Profile3/8508183/8508183.htm

He got one 512MB PC133 SDRAM but it is only showing 256MB available. he can live without the other 256MB if there is a hardware limitation of only 256MB per slot. The main thing, though, is he gets a warning/error when he boots about the system memory running at 100MHz and the physical ram being 133MHz (I don't have the exact error text). The computer still boots and works ok, but this is a keyboard response that needs taken every time he boots.

Does anyone know how we can remove this message, since from the specs and support at Gateway we should be able to use PC133 in the computer?

Gateway support hasn't been much help.

I think it is AMI Bios version 2.01a

My Gateway laptop says low on memory, but it is not.?

I have a Gateway NV52L23u laptop that I bought refurbished about 6 months ago. Lately, every time I try to use the internet (Chrome), I get a message that says "Your computer is low on memory. To restore enough memory for programs to work correctly, save your files and then close or restart all open programs." Restarting my computer does not help--the error message pops back up soon after getting online. If I have more than 1 or 2 tabs open, my internet will crash. As I said, I've only had computer a short time, and have VERY few items on it. It has 6GB RAM, with 5.45 GB available. It runs Windows 8. It has 750 GB HDD and a Quad-Core Processor. What else? I don't use it for gaming or any other memory-sucking programs. I've already switched the visual settings to recommended and removed a couple of programs the computer said might be affecting my processing speed.

Gateway ESX 500S Maximum Memory Capacity? RAM?

Hello, I have 2 parts to this inquiry:
1) Please tell me WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM MEMORY CAPACITY this Gateway ESX 500S Desktop unit IS CAPABLE OF SAFELY TAKING??
>>There are only 2 memory slots available in the CPU & I'm just curious if one or both of those slots could hold a 1gig of PC2100 RAM?
>>This unit when purchased new in 2002, came with 2-256mb RAM (PC2100). I currently have 2-512mb RAM's in it. But right now I dont even have enough memory available at this point to even defragment & free up space! (it says it needs 15% to defrag, and I currently only have 3% of free space available... and that is after deleting alot of pictures!)
2) IF I TRY ADDING the 1GB PC2100 RAM ( I already bought) into one of the 2 available memory slots, & this unit does NOT have that level of maximum memory capacity, WILL IT BLOW UP SOMETHING IN MY UNIT DUE TO OVERLOAD? It's currently at 1GB(2-512mb) so I know it's capable of that; but what about more?
Please advise ASAP. Thanks ~ Kandi

I have 4GB RAM in my computer. Can I add another RAM of 8GB in the second slot? Will it perform smoothly?

Yes it will perform very smoothly. You’ll see difference in every bit of thingsComputer boot timeprogram start upplaying gamesetc,.But, you have to be careful. You have to buy a ram which has similarmemory typememory speedmodule widthmodule voltageInstalling two different memory sizes really dosent matter! Dont listen to others who say that you should install 4gb in one slot and another 4gb slot 2 (or) you have to install it as a single 8gb module.SIZE DIFFERENCES DOSE’NT MATTERBefore installing an additional 2gb ram by computer boot time was 30–40 sec but now

Can i put more ram in my gateway NV52 notebook?

ok if it has room there should be a pannel on the bottom of the notebook..if it has an empty slot you can but it there..if not then you would need to remove on and replace it..but make sure you have a ram card that will fit and work..and make sure that you take the battery out of it before you handle the internals

What will I need to increase speed of my computer?

I have a Gateway Computer (Desktop GT5408. The processor is a Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz.. The memory is a - Dual Channel DDR2 size 512MB and total memory is 1.0GB. Memory speed DDR2 533 (pc2-4200) Total 4 Slots 2 are empty, Maximum 4 GB. I have no hardware knowledge but would like to know if I can increase the speed by adding memory without changing the processor. If so what specifically would I need to purchase. If I need to add DDR2 memory do I simply plug the additional memory into the open slots and start my computer back-up and expect a faster machine. Please inform.

What was the first computer that you owned?

Reposted from Ariel Williams's answer to What was your first video game system? The answer covers both. :DMarch 18th 1984 I was 6 and this was months before my life got turned upside down. I got this for my birthday. I was ecstatic! A TRS-80 Color Computer with 16k of ram and extended basic. The picture below is missing the extended basic emblem but elsewise is identical. This would be hooked to a TV as your monitor.Operating system: Color BASIC 1.0 / 2.0CPU: Motorola 6809E @ 0.895 MHz / 1.79 MHzMemory: 16 kB / 32 kB Graphics: MC6847 Video Display Generator (VDG)I had two games one was Mega-Bug and the other was Skiing. Both came on game cartridges that plugged into the side of the TRS-80 much like an Atari cartridge did.I can't even describe how hard this game was. The magnified portion of the maze covered up part of the level so you never exactly knew where the bugs were. In order to get all of the white dots you often had to go down long dead ends which meant that you might turn down to get the last ones in a corner and not realize that several bugs were already on your tail and there was no escape. You could sometimes fool the bugs as they would eat the little blue dots you left behind so if you went around in circles sometimes they would follow the wrong way around the circle and loose you. If not you would get pinned and eaten. It would then say "We Gotcha!" and restart after playing a short version of La Cucaracha. It was like a huge, super hard version of Pac Man but with no Power Pills! At six years old I had already fallen in love with computers. I was copying programs out of the basic and extended basic programming manuals and then running them. To save your programs the computer would export the program to an audio tape drive as sound then you would play the tape to load it again. It was basically this.Yes, it was just a basic tape recorder and you could use the recorder to copy music off the radio and play it too just like any other recorder. There was nothing much special about it except the computer could plug into it and control it.To anyone that asks yes I was pretty smart for a six year old. I had a 12th grade reading level and was able to understand how to write programs. Mostly I was just coping the stuff out of the book and following instructions but occasionally I would try to write my own stuff too based on the examples and lessons in the books.
