How Can I Tell If I Have A Blow Out On My Ears From Stretching

How do I tell if I've had a blowout from stretching my ears?

You should've waited about 2 weeks for those stretches, because they arent big. You're ear is infected and it has puss in it, thats why it's swollen and red. You really need to take the pincher out, clean it with peroxide, alcohol, and hot salt water with q-tips a few times a day. Try to squeeze the puss out, it'll hurt, but it needs to be done. If you dont clean it and get the puss out of it, your ear could develope staff infection. I just stretched from a 2g to a 0g five days ago, the same thing happened to my ears, they are still leaking puss, but they are healing. It's going to take time, but they will get better if you clean them with the right stuff (alcohol, peroxide, hot salt water, antibacterial soap). OR you could be allergic to the acrylic. And when you get a blowout, it looks like the inside of your ear is on the outside, like a cat butt. :P

Why am I having problems stretching my ears from 8 gauge to 6 gauge?

It's probably for 2 reasons. First off, there's a larger size jump between 8g and 6g. Up until 8g, there is only a difference of 0.6mm or less in between each size. After 8g, the differences get larger, and there is a 1 mm size difference between 8g and 6g. I know that probably seems like it's such a small amount to make any sort of difference, but at small sizes, it's quite a big difference. The other reason is that it's likely too soon. I know on the internet the one month in between sizes is repeated over & over again, but for many people it's just too soon & most reputable piercers recommend more time than that. So it's likely simply a matter of too much too soon. On a side note, Vaseline isn't really recommended to use on ears. The problem with Vaseline is that it doesn't really absorb into the skin, so it can clog pores, doesn't allow the skin to breathe, & can harbor bacterial. Vitamin E oil, Jojoba Oil, Emu Oil, & various other natural oils are a better bet. Good luck!

Whats the difference between a blowout and a tear when stretching ears?

with a blowout, the inside part of the fistula is literally forced to the outside of the piercing hole.

rips generally don't force the fistula out, but rather create tears inside the hole(s). In some cases, it will literally tear up or down through tissue that has not been pierced

both can have a lot of blood depending on the force used to push the offending piece of jewelry in.

both also can be repaired by downsizing 1 to 2 sizes and waiting a couple of months before trying to stretch again

edit:
sometimes blowouts can be hidden due to swelling. when I stretched to 0 the first time, I didn't know that I had blown out my ear until a couple of days later (when the swelling went down). it had actually blown out in the front, which isn't as common as back blowouts, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I used spirals to stretch.

Ear Stretching Care: Do I have a blowout?! ?

A blowout is actually the fistula is pushed out through the back of the piercing by pressure.
You will have a bit of skin outside of the actual hole if you have a blowout.
How long did you wait before stretching up again? How did you stretch your ears?
If you do happen to have one I suggest going back down to a 10g and using witch hazel on your ears.
There is really nothing that can be done other than time and care. The only issue it will give you is you will have a harder time when stretching and your ear might look bad.
Rub your ear lobes with vitamin E oil a few times a day.

*I will advise against using acrylic to stretch with. Since you do not have a lump visible I do not think you have a blowout. I suggest not using neosporin it attracts to much dirt. When stretching use a water based lube.

Are acrylic gauges safe to use while stretching ears?

Acrylic really isn't a good material to use for stretching, or for wearing in general for that matter. The problem with acrylic is that it can't properly be sterilized, breaks down over time & cracks, & is often toxic, & the heat from your body can cause it to break down & leach those toxins into your skin. When it comes to body modification, you'll get alot of people that will insist that because they used it & nothing (seemingly) bad happened to them, it therefore won't happen to anyone, but unfortunately this is not true as we are all different. A great alternative for stretching would be single flared glass plugs. Many piercers recommend glass for stretching because it's nice and smooth & slides in easily & comfortably, can be properly sterilized, won't cause any allergic reactions, & comes in all sorts of neat colors & styles! Glass is my personal favorite for stretching, plus it's very affordable which is nice because I certainly didn't have the money to spend tons of money on plugs I would only be wearing for a few months anyway.

Can you tell me if this is right about my ear blowout ?

ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW ABOUT BLOW OUTS AND STRETCHING OF THE EARS IN GENERAL!

So I got a blow out in my right ear ... I stretched from 2g to 00g the right ear was fine and the left as well ... as I slept though I ****** my ear up and put pressure on it and my ear was hella swollen ... so I massaged with jojoba oil, then I looked in the mirror and I saw I had a blowout :/ I immediately took out my 00g and left it closed over night (no taper until I got home ... and now I am how so I got my old 2g and I put it backwards in my ear if you know what I mean, (small end of tapper through the back) just to see if it would push the blown out skin in and it has, did I do the right thing ? Please don't bash me I know I learned my lession I'm never skipping sizes again ... I don't wanna pay the price of getting another blowout :/
I'm hearing more that using tappers in general is a really bad idea while stretching to bigger sizes because it forces the skin out, is taping a better method help details please?

I regularly clean my stretched holes and massage them with jojoba oil fyi

Thanks

How soon after a lobe piercing can I stretch to 16g?

Wait until the initial piercing is healed. The average heal time for an earlobe piercing is 6–8 weeks. Wait a little longer to make sure you’re not stretching too fast. Between stretches wait at least 3–4 months. Stretching takes time. :)Check out our stretching article. Safe Ear Stretching

Do I take the jewelery out when cleaning newly stretched ears?

No, youve had pierced ears before stretching right? Same thing, keep cleaned (natural piercing oils/vaseline are good!) and turn it whilst you are cleaning to keep stretching it out, a good few times a day. If you take it out you could have a blowout putting back in (been there years ago lol) I would wait until the skin has healed around it properly and it feels safe to get back in again without a tear/blowout.

How do i when my stretched ear blowout has healed?

I was in the same situation as you. I used tape(as I always do) and had a very minor blowout. If your ears are not sore or red or not bothering you they are probably healed. I would wait a couple weeks past that just to be sure though. I did not downsize mine since my blowout was not bad at all. They are actually healing themselves and the blowouts are not even there/noticeable. I was lucky though, I should have done what you did and downsized but once I hit 7/8 I was so proud and did not want to lol. But yeah You ears should be good to stretch now but if I were you I would wait a couple more weeks just to be sure. Hope this helps, sorry for the long ramble lol. =)
