How Can I Travel Between Uk To Europe With Clarification On International Station

I enlisted as E4 in the Army do I make E4 pay in basic training?

you get paid the samae in basic, but you don't get paid for 2 to 4 weeks after you ship to basic, and they take money out of your pay to buy uniforms. Uniforms are very expensive, like 300 to 500 bucks. You also have to pay for your own haircuts, beleive it or not, and your own personal items, running shoes, socks, shaving cream etc. If they ever let you, and you want to buy something at the PXor shoppette, you can spend your own money. There is an ATM at the shoppette, or rifght at the training battallion.

You do not get BAS ((basic allowance for substinence) becuase you are eating in a chow hall. If you are married, you will get separation pay (I think $200) and BAH (Housing Allowance), based on where you live when you enlist ($800 to $2000). Once you get assigned a permanent duty station, you will get both BAS and BAH if you are married, but not separation allowance, and BAH will be based on where you are stationed.

You also have to pay state, federal, local, social security/medicare taxes. You will pay about 15% in federal taxes, and 0% to 5% in state taxes, if you are single, and 6.4% for social security and Medicare. If you are married, or have kids, you will not be paying much, if anything, in federal taxes. You also have to pay fo the GI BILL ($100 a month) and life insurance. If you are single, by the time you get out of basic, you should have about one month's worth of net base pay saved up (about 1300/month). If you have a bonus, half your bonus will come after one year, and the other half at the end of the second year.

How do I send a postcard from Sweden internationally?

buy postcard at petrol station, supermarket, stationary store;take it to a supermarket like ICA, COOP, or Hemköp, with a postal counter (recognizable usually by being a separate area near the entrance where lottery stuff can be bought);buy stamps (“frimärke”) and put it/ them on;ask the counter person to send it away.

Do I need a transit visa if I’m an Indian citizen traveling from Amsterdam to Delhi, India on British Airways with a 2-hour layover at the London airport?

What a lot of mutually-contradictory answers! You need to consult your airline(s) about your potential need for a transit visa. Heathrow is a very large airport with a number of different terminals and a lot depends on whether your hold baggage is being checked through to your final destination or not. Air India operate out of Terminal 2 while BA operate out of Terminal 5.There is a system of transit between terminals at Heathrow that is airside, as well as a separate system landside. If your baggage is being checked right through to your final destination, then you should have no problem — you won’t be going through Immigration, but you really do need to be certain on that point. And in any case, if your flights are all on the same ticket your airline shouldn’t let you board without the necessary visas. Two hours is a very short layover for a journey which involves a change of Terminal at Heathrow.See:I need to change terminals at Heathrow. Can I transit airside?UK Airside Transit and Transit without visa concessionHaving said all that, Heathrow must rate as one of the world’s most confusing and unpleasant airports. I once came off a flight from the US fairly sleepy and was following the crowd towards Baggage Reclaim and Immigration and Customs when I saw a door marked Exit and thought to myself — Why am I going to Baggage Reclaim — I don’t have any hold baggage? I went out the Exit door and found myself in the bus station. When I realised I hadn’t gone through Immigration I tried to go back in, but the door opened only from the inside. So I hopped on a bus to Gatwick and took my next flight without ever going through Immigration. So much for Immigration Control at Heathrow! I suggest, however, that you do things in a somewhat more legal fashion!

Consecutive overseas tour (COT) entitlements?

Im currently finishing up my tour in South Korea my next duty station is Schofield Hawaii. I wanted to know what all is entitled to you for doing a consecutive overseas tour I've heard a few things about it but not sure what to believe. I've heard that you can either get 30 days of uncharged leave or a paid ticket back to your home of residence. I also would like to know if you take ordinary leave how would that work? Will the army pay for your ticket back stateside and then you pay for the ticket to your next duty station or vice versa? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Why should people in America speak English?

I love this question and have read many fine answers. While "Balloon" comes across too angry, he/she does make good points. However, I think they missed the main point.

If I visit France, I would expect to have to learn a little French. Even if it is only "I'm sorry, I do not speak French" or "Do you speak English"? The same with any other country! Learn enough to get by. If you have not attempted to learn some of the language, people (in general) will avoid you. If you make an attempt at it, they will try to help.

The USA was formed primarily by the English, this was the language which took. In time, English has morphed into a modge-podge of many languages. It will continue to change!

Business owners know that they have to make money to stay in business. To do that, they must cater to the people who live in their community. Thus, they hire people who can speak other languages. Their signs sport 2 or more languages because they know that not everyone speaks English.

There are a number of people in my community who are willing to teach others the language, often at no cost. A great many are willing to learn English this way. And, perhaps, at the same time, have the opportunity to learn something of another language.

Get used to it folks! English will probably continue to be the "Official Language" in the USA, but in order to get along, we are both going to have to give a little. That is until the USA becomes North Mexico. ;-)

Great question!
