How Can I Treat Severe Arachnophobia From Home

I have a severe case of arachnophobia?

I'm not a fan of spiders, wasps, or most bugs really. But it's not debilitating for me like it is for you. I've gotten a lot better with spiders...though those ginormous ones still send shivers down my spine! Now I'll see a spider web and all the flies, ants, and other critters in it and I'm like, "you can stay spider...keep doing your job!" That is if as long as he and his web are outside and not in the house.

I prefer winter over summer and I do believe it's because of the freedom from insects. I just get annoyed trying to sit outside and having flies, bees, and wasps pestering you constantly. But I still do it...especially for my kid's sake because he loves being outside. I have to pretend I'm not afraid, which I've really gotten better at.

Since it is so crippling for you, you should seek professional help over it. Seriously, they have programs that by the end of them, you'll be able to hold a spider and it won't bother you. You'll see spiders aren't out to eat you and that they are afraid of you...you're a lot bigger! And they don't have stingers and want to tango with you if you swat at them likes those dang wasps. Man I hate those.

And if you aren't totally against it, have pest control come out and spray your baseboards and basement. It doesn't totally eliminate the bugs, but it definitely cuts down on them. There are organic sprays you can even try if you are worried about the chemicals being sprayed.

Good luck to you! Don't let your life be ruined by your fear of spiders. If they weren't so leggy, hairy, and fast they would be way less intimidating. Too bad all bugs can't look like ladybugs and butterflies. :)

Veganism and Arachnophobia?

I used to dread seeing spiders. I don't know if it was full-blown arachnophobia, but if I saw one I could not sit comfortably in the same room. I was never able to kill them.

I got sick of it sort of ruling my life and the irrationality of it all. So I became determined to embrace spiders (not literally!). I forced myself to catch them and remove them from the house or move them to a more suitable spot. I started researching them and learning more about them. The main things I realised were that a) humans are not spiders' natural prey, they want nothing to do with us and b) having spiders around is very beneficial as they eat each other and other insects. Gradually (actually quite quickly) I became desensitised and they stopped worrying me.

Now I have set up my garden to encourage spiders (and birds, and insects). If I see spiders in my home, and they're not in my way or in danger of being crushed etc, I leave them where I see them, to live their lives in peace. I still always notice them if they're in the house, but now I LIKE noticing them and having them around.

So, take a deep breath and start learning about them, remove the mystery about them. They are fascinating creatures who have as valid a place in this world as we do. Good luck, and I'm sure if I could do it, so can you.

Here's a pic of my office spider, Blackie. Sadly she recently passed away, after three years of living happily just two feet away from where I'm sitting now. She never caused any problems, and caught and ate flies and mosquitoes http://www.flickr.com/photos/43989342@N05/6617688147/in/photostream

Severe case of arachnophobia ?

I feel the same way. Guess what happened to me? I had a spider egg hatch in my room! I couldn't sleep in there for a week. And one night when I was getting ready for bed I saw one come down from my lamp, couldn't sleep either.

It's ok to be scared. What you should do is always make sure you clean your room (ever since the egg incident, my bedroom is never a mess, it's great!) always dust and vacuum. You may see the occasional spider and it's ok to have someone else kill it for you, but what about if everyone's asleep or you're home alone?
You could use the vacuum to get them and there's also spider swatters that make it so they don't fall to the floor when you squash them. Nobody really wants to kill anything but realistically this is what often happens with insects inside the home.

I have crippling arachnophobia and it's ruining my life?

I never really realized it until recently, but arachnophobia rules over my life, especially lately. I do online school so I'm alone a lot and I get very paranoid when alone. I'll get dressed and I tend to leave a lot of my clothes on the floor so I always check for spiders, I shake and examine them. Taking a shower is the worst, I will always thoroughly check the walls, cracks, and floors for any spiders. If I see a little ball of dirt or something I'll not even take a shower. As a matter of fact, I took a shower just last week and there was this huge spider on the wall. I screamed and froze up for a few seconds but then immediately got out, I even locked the door behind me. If I'm drinking something I will always cover the top/opening with a piece of paper or something, because I'm afraid something will land in it. For a while I kept finding them in my hair somehow. I can't even tell you how many times a day I think a little ball of hair or fur is a spider. Just earlier today a small spider dropped down from the ceiling and I fell off the couch and made my mom kill it. I'm unable to kill them because if I even see one I get too scared. I tried to read about arachnophobia but the articles will include pictures and I get too scared to continue reading them. I've been sleeping on the couch for a week because I saw 2 spiders in my room. My family thinks I'm crazy and that I overreact, but I can't help it. What can I do to stop feeling so terrified of spiders all the time?

I have a lizard phobia. How do I get over it?

Fear of lizards is very common. It is extremely common among kids. As one grows older, the phobia subsides but there are many adults and teenagers as well who are just as scared of lizards as very small kids. The fear of lizards is known as Herpetophobia. It is the phobia or fear of reptiles. The phobia includes all reptiles, such as snakes, lizards and crocs among others. While fear of snakes is justified, lizard phobia is not, unless it is one giant lizard, like the one seen in Lake Placid.Usually, people who are afraid of lizards are fully aware that the small reptile is harmless and can do nothing to a fully grown up human. It is also harmless for kids unless a kid comes across the stool of lizards which is toxic and should not be meddled with by kids.Unfortunately, you cannot do much about lizards. Even if you fumigate your house, keep every entry and exit point blocked and take care of hygiene, there might be some lizards you will come across, at least during the springtime and summers. You will also come across lizards at normal places, parks and elsewhere. Hence, you have to deal with the fear of lizards and overcome the phobia.Fortunately, there are many ways to get rid of this phobia. Some people experience severe emotional reactions to lizards, such as nausea, anxiety and some also have panic attacks. Such cases require immediate intervention by a psychologist. If you don’t have such reactions and are just bothered with a lizard or two crawling on the walls, then you should try out some home remedies. You can get rid of the lizards or poison them so they don’t invade your property at all. But you should also try out some tricks to get rid of the phobia. There are three very popular techniques which are used, typically by psychologists, to deal with such phobias. The methods or approaches are EFT which is emotional freedom technique, LOA which is law of attraction and NLP which is neuro linguistic programming. You can train yourself emotionally, try and distract your awareness away from the presence of the lizard and strengthen your neural responses so you don’t have to be afraid of the lizards. You can find a lot of information about EFT, NLP and LOA online. If you wish, you can consult a psychologist and get advised and supervised on every step.Source :- Health researchThanks Ato A
