How Can Increase Muscle While Im Training Boxing Any Tips

Mixing boxing and weight training?

The old school answer is no, do not lift weights. I myself posted a question similar to yours more as an exploratory survey. But, if you do high reps at low weights, you will increase muscle endurance and increase muscle hardness and increase muscle neural response. Power movements/olympic weightlifting improves explosive power and fast twitch muscle fibers. Why do you think sprinters do power cleans, snatches etc.? Ok, Ok, what is the difference of hitting a sledgehammer against a tire and doing "woodchoppers" utilizing a cable platform ? Or, when Juan Manuel Marquez is picking up boulders, how is that different than dead lifts ???

I lift twice a week and do a total body workout each time. After, I will stretch like hell and do a lot of foot-work exercises and work the double end bag to keep my hands "light". Concentrate on exercises that are functional and therapeutic. If you are maxing out on anything, that is just wrong. Remember, the only reason you are lifting is to improve endurance/performance and prevent injury. The big roid' heads at the gym are quite muscle bound. Do nothing that will "shorten" your muscles range of movement. If you are sore anywhere in your joints and not muscles after lifting, stop doing the exercise that causes this. Evander Holyfield lifted/lifts, so does Bernard Hopkins. Start doing power cleans for a while ie. twice a week, and soon when you spar/compete, you will move faster in the ring and hit with bludgeoning force !!!!! One caveat is if you are going to attempt "bodybuilding", while boxing ie. chest/arms Monday, legs, back Tuesday that is counterproductive. In this manner boxing will not be your priority and not allow your muscles sufficient time to heal.

How can I increase my punching speed in boxing?

Work on building explosive power by doing push ups with claps. Pull ups are also useful in working the right muscles. I would also train with a heavier glove (but not too heavy) such as if it's recommended for your weight class to train with 16oz gloves, start training with 18oz. But don't increase the weight too much because that's just unnecessary. By increasing the weight when you train, once you go back to the recommend weight or the required weight for sparring, it will feel lighter and you will be able to move faster.

How do I bulk up muscles when you train boxing? I won't compete I just train for strength and shape

That was a question I asked myself also before. Well, bulking up and training boxing are quite difficult to do. I had been in that situation when I bulked-up and did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. When we are trying to bulked-up, we avoid to burn too much calories, short period of time in the gym, short reps and heavy weights. You eat enough protein or consume high calorie-diet in order for your muscles to grow.On the other hand, you tend to burn lots of calories in boxing when you are training. The more you spend time working out the more you lose calories. So when you do both at the same time,, it’s like you added muscles today and lose it tomorrow. That was my case. However, not everybody has the same body type. It could work out for some and it doesn’t for some.My advice is just eat enough. Your calorie needs depend on your age, gender, current weight and how active your lifestyle is. For the sake of simplicity, multiply your current weight in pounds to 20. If you weigh 130 pounds, that’s 130 x20 = 2600 calories daily. This might come as a shock if you’re not used to eating that much in a day. And like what Arnold and other bodybuilders say consume 1g of protein per 1g of your bodyweight.

Does boxing let you gain more muscle mass or would you have to go to a gym separately for getting stronger?

Any kind of physical exercise helps you grow muscles, and gradually helps you get strong, and when it comes to boxing it acts upon a lot of muscles in the body. But that does not mean that you will gain more muscles by boxing only, working out is equally important if you want to grow muscles in certain areas and do your workout based on that, because along with workout you will also diet and eat healthy and intake protein which will help you grow your miscle. I train Boxing very hard but when I get in the ring for sparring I fill heavy and slow and get tired in less then a minute can someone tell my why?

You likely have been training, but not training for actual conditions. I made this same mistake when I started I would run, heavy bag, shadowbox, etc. all the things to be strong and fit, yet when I went to spar none of the work I put in showed. At my gym there are professional boxers. I often watch them just to see how they train and one thing Stuck out. They don't train at a constant rate. Instead of training at a constant rate for 3 minutes and resting for 40 seconds, they explode for 30 seconds, then practice at their normal rate  for 30 seconds during the 3 minute training round. When we went out to do roadwork, they would run at a steady pace for 2 minutes, then explode and dash for 2 minutes, rinse, repeat. This training is effective for 2 reasons: It simulates a real boxing match. Boxers aren't usually boxing in a round for 3 straight minutes. There are high points of activity and low points of activity in a round. They go at a normal pace then switch to overdrive. It develops an important skill called active resting. Good boxers can go 12 rounds because they have trained their bodies to rest when they are working normally, and between the explosive bursts of energy. It's also a way to conserve energy instead of going all out for 3 rounds then run out of gas.If you want to have energy during a sparring match you need to put your body under similar conditions so that it can get used to it. Let me know if this was useful!

Is weight training for boxing bad?

Certain amounts of weight training is good for boxers. Exercises with lots of reps build tone and endurance needed for boxing. Doing this in areas such as the legs, triceps, shoulders and back is best.
Boxing can also build muscle in your upper body, for some people it causes their muscles to grow, for others they get nothing at all, its just down to genes more than anything.
Serious body building style weights training can definetely be bad for boxing. As imaginable, increasing the mass of your arms and legs without increasing the endurance of those muscles can just slow you down

Will boxing training 3-4 times a week get me in shape and cut?

My jaw hurts from boxing... Any tips?

Getting hit in the jaw jars the muscles that operate the jaw which will cause them to tighten up. Tightened up jaw muscles will be in pain and not allow you to operate your mouth properly, kind of like having a spasm in the muscles. To get rid of the pain you have to release your jaw muscles to free up the ones that have tightened up and here's how to do that release:
Jaw muscles:
Put your fingers on your head so your thumbs are behind your ears. Press into the back of your jaw bone next to the skull and hold that pressure. After 30 seconds slowly raise your head until your neck is fully extended then open your mouth as far as you can. Release the pressure but hold your head and mouth like that for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

How to become a speed demon in boxing any tips?

First of all, understand that speed, like punching power, is genetic. But of course, to a certain extent, you can improve your speed. For hand speed, shadowbox with light dumbbells and double-up on your mitt-work. For foot speed, strengthen your legs doing squats, leg presses and calf-raises, and then sprints for explosiveness.

Should boxers take creatine?

Creatine gives the illusion of being stronger than you are..it also helps with static weight movement (IE weight lifting) but has no health benefits whatsoever. In boxing or endurance sports....creatine can actually kill you.

Creatine uses your potassium in your system to drain excess liquids in your body to store them in your muscles, causing them to swell. This is a temporary benefit though...once you stop taking them....most of your "gains" disappear.

BUT, more importantly....potassium drain and the excess liquids in and around your kidneys, and other organs...are necessary. ESPECIALLY when you do high endurance training.

In worst case scenario...if you took creatine as a part of your training before a fight...during the twelve or ten round bout you would suffer "flop sweat extreme"...your muscles would release all of the liquid stored in an attempt to cool your body. With no potassium to help you recover....its easy to suffer a brain stroke.

PLEASE...dont go the creatine route with endurance training. It only helps bodybuilders.
