How Can People Know That Inhaling Helium Gas Isn

Can you die from Inhaling Helium?

Yes, you can. It displaces oxygen and can cause you to die. Its rare just using balloons, but could happen.

Can you die from inhaling helium??

You can't die from breathing helium but you can die from *not* breathing oxygen.

The lightheadedness and headaches are probably due to not breathing enough oxygen, since you might not feel the need to breathe air as badly as you really should.

Helium isn't toxic but remember that you should never deprive yourself of fresh air for too long.

Is inhaling helium safe?

You will suffer Oxygen deprivation if you continue to inhale Helium so if you are into squeaky voices make sure you breath Oxygen in between gasps. Another danger with inhaling Helium is that you could be inhaling other Nobel Gases such as Argon or Neon in trace amounts. These heavy gases will sit in your lungs like water and not be expelled upon breathing and although unreactive would not be good for you over a long time.

How can inhaling helium make you high?

Helium is lighter than air, so if you had big enough lungs, you might be able to rise into the air, gain altitude and literally get high. But, I don't think any human lungs are voluminous enough to hold that much helium.Another possibility I can think of is the following. We don't breath helium, I don't think much of it enters the bloodstream as it is inert and doesn't bind to anything (not sure). But, inhaling helium might prevent you from inhaling a similar volume of oxygen. Oxygen deprivation can induce a kind of high (Though I can't see this being enjoyable)

Is inhaling helium bad for you?

Normally it is okay to inhale but can be deadly. I wouldn't recommend doing it because you don't know where the helium came from. Normally it is in tanks that have been used to hold various types of gases in them and you don't know what other gases have been filled up in that tank. People have actually died from inhaling helium so that they can talk funny for a few seconds because they though it was so funny and it ended up that there were traces of another gas in the helium from the previous use of that tank.

Please don't do this and try to talk your friends out of doing it. The chance of dying for a few seconds of laughing is not worth it!

Inhaling helium balloons?

Helium is not toxic in any way, but if you inhale a huge lungful of it at once it can displace the oxygen in your lungs. If there's not enough oxygen in your lungs then there's not enough oxygen in your brain, and if there's not enough oxygen in your brain then you're going to pass out. Now when you pass out you presumably stop breathing helium and start breathing normal air again, which should cause you to regain consciousness quickly enough and before any serious brain damage is done. Still, it's not without risks. For example, somebody could inhale part of the balloon itself, which would present a choking hazard. Inhaling large doses of helium too frequently, especially in rapid succession, might increase the chances of brain damage. And of course you run the risk of seriously injuring yourself when you pass out and fall over.

Inhaling helium is something that should be harmless if it's done once or twice for a laugh, and as long as you're aware of the danger and don't inhale huge lungfuls of it, you should be okay. I hope that helps. Good luck!

What are the hazards of inhaling helium?

The human body, and indeed most non aquatic mammals does not have any way to detect oxygen levels in the gas we breath. It instead detects the CO2 level in our blood. If we breath any gas that lacks oxygen, we will have almost no warning before passing out from a lack of oxygen. Many balloon gas vendors mix oxygen or air with helium to prevent this problem. But if you have pure helium, be sure to take a few breaths of air after each lung full of helium. This - breathing gas with no oxygen - has been suggested as a painless and inexpensive way to execute people. It has happened by accident on numerous occasions. Adding a little CO2 will also make the gas safe.

Can inhaling helium make you high?

I mean I don’t think it’s necessarily a high, but from experience (it was a 10/10 experience btw) , I was sucking helium out of a balloon until I felt lightheaded, then I took one huge breath and it felt like I entered a dream, my vision blurred and mirrored it self and I though I fell over, but I didn’t feel the impact. My vision cleared up a tiny bit and I could see what was supposedly infront of me, and it looked like I was on the floor. But I still felt like I was in dream sequence but the second I blinked I was out, just sitting on the floor. I think it was a fantastic experience but it’s probably not medicaly healthy. It’s a short flash of euphoria and numbness. And you can’t die from it unless you keep breathing it in instead of regular air as you are in this “state” which your hands leave your mouth instinctively as it happens.

What would happen if i swallow or inhale helium gas from a balloon?

In a way, you answered your own question. And if you researched this as you say you did, you wouldn't need to ask it in the first place. Since your research is woefully inadequate, visit these web sites (scroll down at the web site where needed):

Is inhaling helium from a balloon safe?

Not particularly.Let me tell you a story of a younger (around 20) and dafter me.This was back in the early ‘90s, maybe 1993 or so.I’d recently learned to Scuba dive, and in the UK there are a couple of large trade shows each year for diving. One at Earls Court in London, and one in Birmingham a few months later.I went with a friend to both, as you could pick up equipment for a very good price, especially on the last day as retailers would give large discounts rather than pack it all up to take home with them.Anyway, there was this girl……She worked on the DUI (a company that made very good drysuits and other such gear) stand, and I’d been chatting to her at the London show.I went to the Birmingham show a few month later, and there she was!So I got hold of a helium balloon from the stand next door, untied it, took a big lungful to say hello….And passed out from hypoxia…Taking out a rack of drysuits as I went down like a sack of potatoes.Smooth.My friend Mick, nearly wet himself laughing. She remembered me though,
