How Can People Who Sell Things Online Sell Stuff So Cheap

How come newegg.com can sell stuff cheaply.?

You must be comparing them to Best Buy and WalMart, no? These two companies mark up electronics way past MSRP. They're horrible

Fry's electronics now pricematches newegg. I used newegg prices to get Fry's to come down on a SSD that i bought last month.

Newegg doesn't really sell for that cheap, they keep it to MSRP. everyone else likes to jack up the prices on stuff. If it's a hot item that sells out fast, Newegg will tack on an extra $20.

I've also seen newegg sell stuff for over MSRP but then add a coupon code to get the item down to MSRP. Newegg has done some shady sh1t. I;ve heard of people complain about newegg sending then items that have been opened. I've personally spent at least $6k at newegg within the last 2 years and I've never received anything that's been opened.

Wy do you ask?
Instead of overclocking the old Pentium D processor, you could buy a Core i5-2500K, P67 or Z68 motherboard, and 4gb of DDR3-1600 Ram and go to town.

I think the biggest reason they sell so cheaply is because they buy in massive bulk, just like Costco does. While they don't have door greeters, they do have to employ a lot of people to process RMA's, Pack the orders, maintain the site, and make sure the credit card orders go through.

How do online shopping sites sell their products cheaper than market price?

Before LivingTrendz.com was born, we wanted to analyse how these online sites sell furniture at an extremely low cost. We ordered few solid wood furniture from random categories & most of the products had a waiting period of more than 25days. Once arrived, we were completely dismayed to see the quality of the product. It was nothing compared to the product quality or finish that shows on the picture mentioned on their site. Crap quality wood, loosely fitted, easily breakable, Polish was uneven n cheap looking. Overall it was shabby products. Getting directly from manufacturers may lower end users cost but no guarantee in quality or life for the products. Bsce online stores do not oversee the product quality from their suppliers and these products r shipped directly from suppliers Location which makes it impossible to monitor. In most of these sites, what you see is NOT what you get. Called their customer care and their response was lame with no proper communication skills. Yet ppl buy from sites like them. Ofcourse there r couple of genuine online stores out there who sell good quality furniture but mostly ppl are attracted towards low price tag sites and without doing their homework end up throwing their money away.  LivingTrendz.com addresses all these issues to give customers quality products and a pleasant after sale experience.

How does Walmart sell stuff for so cheap and make money?

Due to their purchasing power. They buy in extreme volume and get bulk discount pricing. Also, they tell vendors what they will pay them not vice versa. If a vendor doesn't like the price Walmart will find a vendor that will give them their price. Most vendors don't want to lose Walmart's business so they agree to Walmart's purchase price. Walmart is then able to offer the goods for the low prices that they do.

I was able to tour one of their warehouses and they are quite expansive. Walmart has mastered the art of knowing what they need, how much they need, and when they need it. They order merchandise months in advance. They also have their stores linked into their inventory system and are able to replenish their stores almost instantly. For example, if you bought a TV. The system registers that a tv was bought at sore x and sends out a notice to ship TV to store X to replenish the inventory stock at store x. This usually happens in the same day. This efficiency also helps to save in ordering and labor costs which also contributes to Walmart being able to offer low prices.

What do you call someone who sells things at a store?

retail salesman, retail assistant, store assistant

I'm on SSI, I'm disabled and can't work, if I started selling stuff online would it affect my benefits?

I don't understand why the account has to be in your name. However, even if it is it is your mother's business, not yours. She is the one who is making the quilts to sell. Selling things via etsy or ebay or where ever is a business. The person whose business it is must keep track of all income received from it and expenses. For example, expenses would be the cost of all the fabric, threads, needles, etc. spent in the making of the quilts and whatever the website charges. Hobbies stop being hobbies and become a business when a person starts selling what they've made.

If your mother realizes a profit of $400 or more she must claim self-employment income on her federal tax return. I've seen how much they ask for quilts on etsy and ebay and it isn't much. I doubt that your mother will see much of a profit. You would have nothing to report because it isn't your business so it isn't your income.

If your mother is receiving SSI she must keep track of monthly income and expenses and report any profits she makes from the business to her SSI worker.
