How Can They Take My Money

Can I get a bank account if I owe money at another bank?

I owe about $800 dollars to a bank for naively letting my mother use my bank account for transactions. The account is closed and the money I owe is in collections right now. If I agree to pay a certain amount per month will I be able to get a bank account while I am paying it? It is so hard to do anything without a bank account these days!!

How can I withdraw money from a bank account if I have the account and routing numbers?

Considering that the bank account is yours, you would add it to the many sites that offer bill pay or you could connect it to another bank account of yours to perform what is called a wire transfer where you set the amount to be transfer. You could also use the bank account number for withdrawal of money in person at your bank. But all of that you must be the owner or at least the joint or you must have the permission of the owner. Otherwise, it will be fraud.

Can my parents take my money?

If you are a minor according to the law of your country, and you live under their roof and eat their food and generally are supported by them, then yes, they may take whatever they want from you. Sorry. If you are above that age BUT live at home, then it gets into a grey area that isn’t covered by laws. If you aren’t paying any room or board, then a court is going to laugh you out the door. Sit down with your parents and work out a financial agreement. If you have an inheritance from other family and your parents were directed to hold it til you are of adult age, then you have to read the documents. Usually there is a provision for spending some of it on necessities. If they are taking too much in your opinion, talk to a lawyer.I can’t imagine your parents taking your money in any other scenario, but correct me if I’m wrong.

If you owe money for a hospital bill can they take your state and federal tax refund.?

Why didn't Amazon take out the money from my debit card after I ordered an item?

All good answer but I work within the Amazon infrastructure. The reason Amazon doesn’t automatically debit the money from your account is for two reasons. #1 the customer order may have been a mistake, so Amazon puts a 1 hour hold on the items to allow the customer to cancel the order if it was in fact a mistake. #2 as others have said, if after processing the system determines that you have several orders pending in the queue, it will charge your card only when the items ship. However, if it is a single item and customer shipment is generated based on the best logistics possible and your card is automatically charged. Now, it gets different with vendors that have a front in which the product is sold by and shipped by their site. In this case, the card is debited only when the items ship, even if it is a single item, the 1 hour hold also takes place before the vendor is alerted of the transaction which, their system must send an authorization to active the customer shipment within the network.

If i owe the bank money can they take my income tax check?

If you owe a bank money, and you deposit money into that bank, the bank can take your money. However, the IRS will not pay your bank part of your refund directly.

If you pay for tax preparation at a business that has your fees taken out of your refund, there is a third party bank involved that accepts your refund, pays your preparer, pays itself a fee, and then forwards the balance of the refund to you. If your bank has an agreement with the third party bank, that bank can directly pay your bank even before your money is released to you.

What legal actions can I take if my parents are taking money from my checking account without my approval?

First off…how are your parents taking money from your checking account? Is it linked to theirs and they are joint account holders? That is the only way they can do that in any normal bank.IF so, then get yourself a new account with only YOUR NAME on the account. Then transfer the money from your current account to the new one and the problem is solved.Outside of that, you really shouldn’t go to extremes and prosecute for theft or whatever because this is family, and in the end it will come back to bite you in the ass. Trust me.One of the banks my family uses is pretty big and because of our business dealings, we usually don’t bother to go to the teller. As soon as we step inside the bank, the regional manager herself will usher us in to her office and handle whatever we want done (even something so simple as go to the teller herself and get cash if we need it). What does this have to do with your query? Well, one day I found out that my parents were occasionally siphoning off money from my accounts for investments…how did they know how much I had? Well, the regional manager assumed that, as an extended family (more on that later), that they had POA (power of attorney) and she could divulge information and let them withdraw funds. I confronted the regional manager and she was completely embarrassed when she realized that my parents do not have POA and did not have permission to withdraw funds. Now, basically, my parents borrowed hundreds of thousands of dollars…invested it and then paid me back (sans interest). That wasn’t right either. I can sue them but what is the use of that? I moved back in with my parents 10 years ago because I became a single Dad of a girl with epilepsy and my mother is a Neurologist who is highly qualified to treat her disorder…it was a matter of necessity for my daughter’s sake. So, people naturally assume that I make money off my parents and not the other way around. Well, they have enough on their own and continue to make a decent amount but have made some poor investment decisions in the past (selling when you should be sitting and buying when you should be selling, etc.) and were tapping my money to try to make more for retirement. In fact, I can’t recover most of that money because they used it to buy property abroad…it would be a total nuisance and headache to try to prove it and seize those properties…so I just let it slide and when the time comes, I will INHERIT those properties and they will be mine anyways.
