How Can You Tell F You Are A Good Singer

How can you tell if you can sing good or not?

I believe that as long as you look confident and pretend to know what you are doing then you can pass off anything... in this case you can pass off as a good singer, whether that is true or not, as long as you believe in yourself.

How can I tell if I have a good singing voice? I recorded myself with my phone and it sounded weird/cringy, yet others tell me I sound good.

I am a professional vocal coach and I am often asked “do I have a good voice,? can I become a singer? should I take voice lessons ?It is almost impossible to give an answer. If you like to sing, join a choir and listen to others. If your voice sounds ok , they will let you know and if it doesn’t then you will certainly be told.A good voice is no guarantee that you can become a popular singer , infact the voice is pretty unimportant in today’s technical world. How old are you, what do you look like, can you dance, act , speak various languages (classical singers). To train your voice requires DAILY hard work. A good coach can do a great deal but you must want to sing more than anything. Never listen to what friends , family etc say. Find a good honest teacher and trust him or her. Do not forget normally at Auditions there are about 400 singers per day trying out for 3 or 4 jobs. Get ready for lots of rejections . If this has not deterred you , then good luck!!!!

How can I tell If I'm good at singing?

You can always try to record yourself because you can't really hear what you sound like yourself! To get better, you can try different types of songs.

Tips:
*Open your mouth while singing, like you are yawning.
*Tummy-breathe; don't use your chest to breathe, you can mess up your vocals.
*If you are an soprano, don't FORCE low notes out. That will also mess your vocals up.
*If you are an alto, don't SCREAM high notes out. That will definitely mess you up.

Find which suits you best [low or high] and if a song is too low, try to sing it higher pitch version. make up your own, that's always fun to do.:)

Good luck.

How do you know if you're a good singer or not?

There's a big difference between a good singer and a popular singer. Can you sing in tune? Can you harmonize? Can you read a chart?
Get some coaching from a reputable teacher and/or take a recording to an agency. They'll let you know (specially an agent) if you've got a chance.
Bottom line is though... you're only as good as your marketing strategy.
There are plenty of truly awful singers out there who make a lot of money, and plenty of really good ones who are broke.
Also - this is pretty much a quote from CDbaby who markets my cds "There are only about 1% of the people who hear your music who will like it - so concentrate on them and forget the rest."
Also, for me, the acid test isn't recording. Anyone can make a recording and mess around with the eq and pitch correction til the cows come home. Shania Twain has 7 pitch correctors on her microphone in her live concerts... guess how well she sings in tune?
Put the microphone down and sing live - in fact see how you feel when there isn't even any instrumentation. If you can produce a good tone, you're a singer.
Then just go to the quiet place inside yourself and listen to your inner wisdom. Somewhere inside of you, you really know whether you are or aren't. It's the insecure side of you that is looking for assurance.
If you are really a good singer, there will come a time when you don't need to ask.
I haven't ever asked that question of myself. It isn't really relevant. I've always sung. It's just what I am and has always been an integral part of me whether I'm singing to the horses in the barn or to 10,000 people at Canada Place.
And BTW, although I listen critically to the many recordings I've done, I love how my voice sounds. In fact having a sound in the headphones that is pleasing to my ear is the key to a successful recording take and it takes a really good engineer to give me that. And I'm really picky.
Good luck.

If someone is humming can you tell if there a good singer?

Im not sure but i think it depends on how there humming.....Its they have a smooth hum...that it nice and relacing to hear.....then i think they could sing.....but its its just like that kind of hum that they make when there thinking like a conversation like this.....lol

Geroge: hey
Joe: hey
George: guess what
Joe: (((( Hmmmm ))))

Then im not so sure..... but if they can get a nice smooth hum....that is nice to hear...i think they could....but dont be going just off that...b/c i think that i could sing well( idk ) but i dont think im the best hummer....lol
--------------------------------------...
My Personal Additional Information
--------------------------------------...
I tried humming...i am good at it...and i can raise and lower my hum and keep it then 4 a extended time...And i tried to sing a little and i thought it sounded better than some of the people in choir in school.

Could just be my luck that i can hum and sing..lol idk
But i think it has to do with the persons voice and other things such as being able to change tone...=)

lol nvm...i tried again and i cant sing...with a little practice mabey....but not currently...but i think it just has to do with my voice....lol i can still hum though

I guess if they have a good voice and hum then they could depending on if its a good hum.

Could I be a good singer if I'm a good whistler?

Well I've been in this business for more years that I wish to admit to, but this is the first time someone's come up with a question I have never heard before and now you've made me curious. In fact I might even use this as part of my Seminar next year., So here goes my best shot on answering your question through anatomical knowledge and through the physics of sound. To sing one must have good expellation of air and that air should be controlled evenly through the use of the pectoral muscles. If your a whistler then you must have good air control and lung capacity, probably better than some singers, logically THAT MEANS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HOLD A NOTE. To whistle you need to perse your lips tightly or loosely, so that the air coming through the lips causes the lips to vibrate and the vibration is in actual fact a note. A singer tightens or loosens the vocal ligament within the Larynx to vibrate a note. A singer cannot perse their lips to sing as we have to articulate words. THAT MEANS IF YOU CAN ARTICULATE AS WELL AS YOU WHISTLE YOU CAN SING. Now the brain has muscle memory on every note you have every heard. When we are scared, we tighten muscles and a high note comes out. If we are drunk we have no muscle tension so only low notes come out. So if you have the brain/muscle memory for whistling notes - YOU WILL HAVE GOOD PITCH AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO SING. But the answer lies in the doing. and the knowledge of the best muscles to use for Expellation of air and the contraction of the vocal ligament. something which even a natural singer has to learn. So bottom line is,,,you should be more than a reasonable singer but you may have bad muscle habits that could cause laryngeal trauma if you were a full time professional singer. A casual singer? yeah, you can sing. Oh I did enjoy working that out. Thanks for the opportunity to answer

How do you tell if someone can sing?

Well, there are little nuances like note switching, breath control, pronunciation, presence, and projection. Really, a good singer is just someone who sounds good, and beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. A lot of "being a good singer" is your ability to find and reliebly re-create a voice that is good for one song, just like guitarists adjust the settings on amps and effects, and keyboardists go insane with synthesizers. So, in that case, someone is a bad singer because they either disagree with how a song should sound or are unable to replicate that sound properly. A lot of it is a singer's range, too.
Modeling is talentless. That's just it's own world of politics, and a lot of singing is like that too, unfortunately. Look at American Idol.

How do I know if my singing is good?

Ok. Bad news good news. In Stalker Girl, you are flat and overly nasal - these aren't questions of taste - they are questions of technique - see if you can't get a singing coach to help you with intonation. A cheap way to get access to singing is a nearby church choir. Nightmare Neal is slightly better because of the post-production ... But the end result is pretty pedestrian - obvious cliches and nothing dramatically new sounding. However...The remix has pretty good production quality as far as sound goes - the dancing doesn't match the beat of the music, so it comes across as awkward ... But the visual framing of the shot, the choice of lighting and ambience are superior. I'm not sure, my friend, but you may not be the artist you're looking for ... But if you made these videos - you really MAY be the Producer/Engineer that an artist needs. It's harsh, but it's the truth - I think you could do well to start spotting talent around you, then offer to produce a video like the remix - but let THEM be the centerpiece. You could potentially make something fantastic that could be pitched to a label and/or find your niche that way. So get to a voice coach, or surrender to production. That's my feedback. Good luck and God Speed.
