Why is it that you wake up more tired when you fall asleep again after waking up for the first time?
Yes it's quite true. When you wake up refreshed; you finished a sleep cycle. Going back to sleep to wake up in less time than it takes to complete another sleep cycle means you interrupted a sleep cycle. You could feel headaches, severe drowsiness, and weakness in your muscles. When your brain puts you to sleep, it releases a chemical into the body to cause a kind of "mild paralysis" it's this paralysis that prevents you from acting out your most vigorous dreams. A natural safetey system for your protection and those around you at night. (also explains "night terrors" in some people)You thus feel weak, groggy and unrested when your body hasn't had time to exhaust and eliminate the paralysis chemical that was produced by the brain.
I always wake up at 5 am and never fall asleep again, no matter how late I sleep. How can I sleep longer?
Perhaps, you have an underlying medical problem which causes the early awakenings. Age is often the cause as well, since early awakenings are more common in older people. What can cause early awakenings:InsomniaAnxiety and depressionSleep apneaCircadian rhythm disordersAdvanced sleep phase syndromeNatural changes of agingThe last three point can be treated with melatonin and light exposure at night.Tips for waking up at night for no reason:1. Preserve the darkness. Keep the room dark when you wake up. When you need to go to the bathroom, use minimum to no lights as well.2. Move the clock out of reach. Constantly checking the clock and calculating how long you've been awake only feeds your anxiety. Set the alarm, then move the clock where you can't see or check it.3. Write it down, then let it go. On your bedside table, keep a notebook and pen devoted solely to nighttime "worry lists." Using a dim night-light, write down each thought that's bothering you. Then, after you write it down, make a conscious effort to cross it off the list in your mind. In the morning, transfer the action items to your to-do list. Over time, you'll develop faith in yourself that writing down your worries equates with getting them done. For more sleep related articles, please visit sleepblog Archives - Vita Talalay
How can I fall asleep and never wake up again?
well you could do that in many ways than one but mark my words that sooner or later a dream will come to you a wish that will be in your heart as you live through the world of dreams is to make people realize your dreams, share it with others and you would want to be in the real world seeing these dreams coming true so what will you do then? wake up? then why sleep....forever? what you can do right now is open your eyes, look around then close them and look within you see what you can do realize your dreams realize your strengths your weaknesses manage them Believe in yourself Believe in your own powers in life then get up and work on it never give up Succeed! Look Believe & Succeed

My Child only eats 1 ounce and then falls asleep and wakes again within an hour to eat only 1 ounce again?
Some say that formula can be hard for some babies to digest. We used Hergenberger Goat's Milk instead with great results. It comes in a powder from Whole Foods in our area. We would make the milk regular strength and then dilute it by half (50% warm water, 50% full strength goats milk)for new born and then 25%/75% at about a year and full strength at about 2 years. I understand that when it is hard to digest, the baby's system wants to shut down and sleep (like adults after eating too much) and that could be why he won't stay awake long enough to eat more. Also the Goat's Milk has no aluminum in it as some formulas do - like many processed, powerdery foods do to keep it from clumping.
Why do I wake up 10 minutes after I fall asleep at night?
Sleep are of various types and there are different things and surroundings that induces sleep in you but there are a lot of distractions .The main reasons can be :1. you are stressed out ,in your subconscious mind something is bothering you2.you are overthinking about something or sometimes what happens is that for example when tomorrow something big you have to do maybe exam, meeting, etc the over thinking about that thing doesn’t let you sleep3.your day wasn’t good or something bad happened and you are not able to overcome that thought or out of happiness and thinking about living that same moment again4.maybe you have acquired a new sleep cycle and your body is not able to inhibit that cycle correctly5.maybe suddenly you are thirsty or hungrySo the whole issue is in mind. Thus keep your mind calm and composed and remember whatever happens happens for good and for a reason(maybe that can help getting a better sleep)

Why do I wake up when I realize I'm falling asleep?
Quite possibly because you have no idea what you’re anxious about…If the only thing you know or feel or subconsciously understand is that you have some kind of anxiety which is in some way related to sleep, the simple fact of recognizing that you’re falling asleep might well make that anxiety seem both more immediate and more important…Down a different route if you have any kind of anxiety about anything, a part of you will prolly think it’s important to deal with that before you go to sleep in which case, again, the simple fact of recognizing that you’re falling asleep might well make it both more immediate and more important…One approach to such problems is simply to make a list of all the things you think you might be anxious about… only please make that a much longer list than you first thought it ought to be.My suggestion would be to use lined paper and tell yourself you need to fill in at least four sides, then start writing and do not stop for anything. If you really can’t think of another anxiety for the next line, write ‘Blank’ and go on…
How do I prevent myself from waking up and falling back asleep in the morning?
I used to have this problem when I first developed narcolepsy and one of the drugs that controlled my daytime seisures but taken at night to control my sleep pattern.Like yourself it is very easy to wake up to the first alarm, put it on snooze and keep on doing so …..until its too late-:)The first alarm is actually a reminder not so much to get up but to take my drugs that control my epilepsy, have to go to the bathroom, count out the dosage, so that gets me out of bed. However since one of my night control drugs is a narcotic sometimes it is a little too good at its job -:)So I climb back in to bed again. However I have a second alarm set 10–15 minuets later than my drugs alarm, and I have to get out of bed to “answer” it.By that time I have to be awake -:)So try to the two alarm system, such that the second alarm acts as a “snooze”; just don’t go back to the bedroom. Straight to the bathroom, and then shower/shave etc. by which time you have no choice :)
Why do I generally wake up after about 2 hours of sleep then fall back to sleep shortly after?
This is because our sleep cycles are generally for about 90–120mins long. After every sleep cycle is over we come to our N1 sleep stage, which is very close to awakeness. Hence some people get the sense of being awake in that stage and then drift off to later stages in sleep. While most of us just roll on the other side and keep sleeping. If you are regularly waking up fully and then going to sleep (not just sense of sleeping), then you should check your environment. Probably the environment is not good for light sleeps. There are sounds, lights or uncomfortable bed around you disturbing in your light sleeps.Hope this answers your query.Happy sleeping :)
