How Come Some People Have No Favorites

What type of people don't have a favorite color?

I don’t have a favorite color. My dad gets around this question by saying a color that is never mentioned:brown.(he has been known to answer this question with, black, puce or clear.)If you approach him with, “Hey, Dad. Guess what?”He will begin guessing without regard to context…without asking for information that will assist him in guessing “what”.So, asking for a favorite color has always seemed to me to be something of a superficial, unanswerable trap. It’s too limiting, too vague, too lacking in context in place, time, object. The type of person who doesn’t have a favorite color…well. That’s also a problem because it’s too limiting. It could be someone like me or someone completely unlike me with the one exception that they don’t have a single, favorite color. The kind of person who has a favorite color might come from someone who prefers the feeling of knowing rather than the process of understanding.Think of it this way. Let’s change the question to: “Where have you lived?” I know that’s a huge leap but without qualifiers it can quickly become absurd.Since I landed on a trip to Thailand in Seoul, I was there a few hours…just in the airport. I was alive. So in a technical sense I could claim I lived in Seoul for a time. What kind of person doesn’t have a favorite color? Someone who likes their options open, perhaps.Or has a favorite color for the outside of a house in a northern climate made of wood when surrounded by puce-colored meadow grass: black. That same person might like their garden in a secondary triadic composition with an emphasis on chartreuse and yellow to mimic sunshine but only like swimsuits for their pale skin in shades of periwinkle. That person might like plates in bone china with black images of wild beasts. She might like a table cloth of palest blush and wood floors in deep mahogany. But only some of the time. Sometimes she loves the soft silver shade of brushed nickel in an old ribbon to hold a pendant of shattered opal. And in the fall, a bright helenium besides a golden dawn redwood. Get the idea?

Why do some teachers play favorites?

I am a teacher, I have taught in a regular education classroom as well as special need classroom. I don't think teachers intentionally have favorite students. I do tell my students that if they say "yes" to me, I will in turn say "yes" to them.
For example, if i have student who works in class and finishes the work, makes corrections as necessary, that child will get more priviledges (free time, computer time, library time, treats, etc) than the student who is not working in class.

You are not going to want to read this, but maybe you should not just blame the teacher for having favorites, but look at the bigger picture. Are there things that one student is doing (so called favorite?) that the other is not?

I asked my students one day to write down the name of my favorite student and give me three reasons why they felt that way. (Ok, now I am bragging) Most of the students wrote down their own name!! Nope, no favorites here, I love them all, and somehow they realize it. The students that wrote someone else's name gave the reasons that they had more priviledges. Generally it was the students who had recently got in trouble in class. Go figure.

Why do some people not have a favorite color or a best color?

It's probably too difficult to narrow it down. If you asked them to name just one particular color as a favorite they just can't decide what color to choose. I have many colors that I love. Some days it's yellow and on others it's various greens. I think most people think that they must have only one and then just pick a particular arbitrary color and stick with it. But why have only one? When my children were young I bought one a turquoise blue sweater and the other a red sweater. Coincidentally they declared that those were their favorite colors. Forever. If I'd purchase violet and green I'm sure those would have been their favorites. It was as arbitrary as that. My youngest child chose orange as his favorite because he said “ no one else likes it, so I will” he was four at the time.I think it would make more sense to ask” what's your favorite color at the moment?” It could be blue, or perhaps hot pink, maybe orange, I'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure no one chooses brown unless they are just trying to be odd. I suppose that fifty people will now profess their love of all shades brown! If I had to choose my favorite six colors they would be: hot pink, butter yellow, yellow- green, red, violet and persimmon orange. What about you?

Why do people have favorite colors?

People develop “favorites” to distinguish themselves from others. It gives them a sense of individuality. They can claim something as uniquely theirs, never mind the fact that a color or a food or a place belongs to no one. By invoking ownership in this way, we build our identity.I think many people initially select a favorite color, and other favorites, because they feel they are expected of them. It’s a question that many people are asked as children. People ask this question to make conversation, learn more about someone, or (usually), to learn what they have in common with someone else. Choosing favorites helps contribute to one’s unique identity, but also to a tribe mindset — if we both like the same thing, we must be the same in other ways.As far as why someone would choose one color over another, each person has personal reasons. It might be certain memories invoked, but more often it has to do with the perception of colors and ones’ desired perception. Children might choose a color because they know a friend or relative likes that color. It may be how their room is decorated, or the color of their favorite Power Ranger (is that still a thing?).This is a great question! The truth is there’s probably a lot more psychology to this than I can offer, but I hope this answer was illuminating just the same.

What is your least favorite ethnicity?

Be honest, we are all prejudiced. There are some people you like more than others based merely upon ethnicity. The question is, will you be honest enough to admit it? So be brave and tell!

What is your favorite-THING to have?

Something you could never have enough of. For like if you were shopping for someone who has everything, what's that one thing that no matter how many of them you have, you never have enough, or if your a conneuissor of some 1 thing. I love perfumes and scents and can never have enough. Some people love different types of brownies or my daughter she can't have enough different lip glosses, or your favorite muscian; you love anything by them that they do. Some people collect keychains or loves anything thats there favorite color.......etc

Why don't I have any favourites?

I also had this problem too, but I finally found out what was bothering me. Asking myself the question of "what is my favourite?" Was the problem. You always have favourites but you may have a problem of figuring them out. Since favourite is just something you prefer over another, let me remind you some of your favourites. You use social media, right? There are so many social madia websites, which one do you like to access the most? Facebook may be. Well, there you are. You have a favourite social media and that is Facebook. There are also so many competitors with Qoura, but you choice Qoura which means this is your favourite. Don't figure out favourites let your actions and feeling lead you to them. All food doesn't obviously teste the same to you. You eat some food when there is no choice and you leave others when there are options. You don't enjoy all movies to the same degree, just think about which movies can you watch more than once? That is the one which attracts you more. Always remember the one you prefer is just yor favourite.Don't focus on what are you favourites, let the favourites identify themselves by making you prefer them over others when you have a choice.

How come I can't see the person who favorited my tweet?

I used to be confused about this as well; however, now I understand the main factors that go into this common confusion. The user who favorited your tweet is on private. When a user has requested to go private on Twitter, it allows them to be protected and private on all aspects even when you are trying to discover who favorited your tweet. (You will know the account is private because Twitter will make it clear the account doesn’t want to share it’s information)The tweet you gave may have gotten extreme popularity and exceeded over 100 favorites. In this case you are able to see some of the users who favorited the post; however, to go in full detail and see who favorited your post you are going to need to use an external platform. There are tons of these out there. For example, TweetDesk. If you are extremely interested in who favorited a certain tweet… you can sign up for email notifications on Twitter. Therefore, when anyone likes, comments or engages with your account you will receive an email notifying you of who and what they did.If you are interested in growing your Twitter account check out our company Growth Hustlers.

Do teachers have "favourites"?

i'm a teacher and i have favorites. if teachers say they don't, they are lying to you....but just because they don't want to hurt your feelings. or maybe you are their favorite but they just can't tell you!!

teachers are human, and sometimes we just don't like everyone. but every teacher has a different kind of favorite. i like smart quiet kids. my other teacher friend's like loud funny kids. so....i think there is a "favorite" for all kinds of students. any student has a chance at being a favorite to any teacher. who knows.

but as far as grades go...we cannot favor. i don't change grades or favor kids when i'm grading. that's not ethical.
