How Did All The Songwriters Stand Out

Want to be a successful singer songwriter but have lack of confidence in myself?

I have been writing songs and singing for so long. I'm only 16 but I'm worrying about this because of my A levels coming up and needing to decide what i want to be. I know i could probably get by on my singing but because of a lack of confidence in myself i think i could be ruining my chances of ever making anything of myself.

Is there any advice you could give me? Anything at all that would help with the problem im having?
Maybe a show like x factor? or should i wait until i feel better about my situation?
I'll be glad of any help i can get.
& Please take this serious. I know it sounds VERY unrealistic. But it's what i want to do.. :/

Is Ringo Starr's songwriting a complete waste of time?

Well, I DO think that Don't Pass Me By is probably the weakest track on the white album...

The nice thing is that he's not pretending to be a great songwriter..He has no ego about it whatsoever...

Just So You Know....he refused to sing

"What would you think if I sang out of tune, would you throw some tomatoes at me?"

and changed it to 'would you stand up and walk out on me'...THAT, I think is his greatest contribution
to the Beatles song legacy...

Songwriting??? help please... Beginner?

Okay, I'm trying to write songs, but I'm not sure like about chorus's and bridges and stuff. I kinda have an idea of a chorus, but what's a bridge. Anything else I need to know? Oh I could use tips on how to get inspiration for a song, and how to lengthen a song without making it seem weird, like lengthen it to where everything still runs together well. Thanks! Oh and any people with songs that they've made maybe could post the lyrics or something so I can compare my songs :) thanks!

Did Tammy Wynette write 'Stand By Your Man", and Dolly Parton"Coat of Many Colors"?

Listen, James, and all you other songwriting gripers, you cannot convince me that you withhold judgment on whether you like a song until you find out who wrote it. YES, all three of those songs were written or co-written by the artist performing them. However, the biggest country chart hit of Dolly Parton's career, "Here You Come Again," was NOT written by her, and neither was her first top ten hit ("Muleskinner Blues," which was written and originally performed by Jimmie Rodgers [gee, why doesn't anyone ever ask any questions about HIS songwriting?!]); one of Tammy's other "signature songs" ("D-I-V-O-R-C-E") was not written by her (it was written by Bobby Braddock, who also wrote "He Stopped Loving Her Today"); and the biggest chart hit of Loretta's career, "One's on the Way," was not written by her (it was written by the great Shel Silverstein). Now, is your opinion of Tammy, Dolly, and Loretta diminished?

Meanwhile, what about Felice and Boudleaux Bryant? Cindy Walker? Harlan Howard? Hank Cochran? Fred Rose? All Hall of Fame SONGWRITERS. You know, one of the biggest hits of Willie Nelson's career, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain," was written by Fred Rose (and originally a hit for Rose's business partner, Roy Acuff). In fact, most of Willie's albums lately have featured covers (including a tribute album he did last year to Cindy Walker). So is Willie a "bad guy" now? And is "Crazy" any less a great song because Patsy Cline didn't write it?

There's a remark on the liner notes of the album "Jim Reeves Writes You a Record" that quotes Tom T. Hall. He said, "Songwriters write songs, but artists write records." Tom T. is one of the greatest songwriters of all-time, so if you really care about what the songwriter says, you'd best pay attention to him.

Meanwhile, go listen to Patsy sing "Crazy," and if you really care that she didn't write it after she finishes ripping your heart out, then you are either not telling the truth or not human.
