How Did The Japanese And Chinese Influence Each Other Culturally And Religiously

To what extent was the culture of Japan influenced by China?

Did you know that Chinese can read Japanese and vice versa?
Though they can't speak with each other, but Japanese writings come from Chinese. Actually spoken Japanese is also similar to some dialects on the Chinese coast.

Apart from the other post, I'd like to point out that the major culture exchange between China and Japan was during the Tang Dynasty, when China was incredibly open. Back then, China was the centre of the world, not only in economy, by in technology, culture, fashion, thoughts, military, etc.

The Japanese zeal of swords come from China. In the Tang Dynasty, every Japanese visitor to China was honored with a sword as a gift, a rare piece of weapon for Japanese because they didn't have the technology to forge steel back then. They went home, and sword became one the most honored weapon and art in Japanese culture.

Architecture. The great Japanese city of Kyoto was a smaller replica of the ancient capital city of China during the Tang Dynasty, Chang'an. If you wish to see ancient Chinese architecture, go to Japan.

Dress. The traditional dress that Japanese girls all wear on important occasions is a simplified version of what Chinese women wore in Tang Dynasty.

The Japanese sexual openness also came from the Tang Dynasty, when the Chinese were extremely open.

With all respect, Japanese culture is a mixture of modern western civilization and ancient Chinese civilization of the Tang Dynasty. Want to see how China was more than a thousand years ago? Go to Japan.

In what areas of China did the Japanese influence? what other nation did the Japanese control in 1911?

You have the year wrong. Japan didn't control any other nation in 1911. Japan first started occupying Chinese soil around 1931, and a full-fledged war between the countries started in 1937.

Throughout World War II, Japan primary controlled the Northeast part of China, though they occupied many areas all along the Eastern coast in the middle. They set up a "puppet" state in the Northeast called Manchuko.

Japan also invaded and occupied Korea. By 1942, they occupied Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, Malaysia, The Phillipinnes, and dozens of other territories in the South Pacific.
