I had been wanting to answer this question for a long time and now, thanks to RBR's article I can.There all three modes of transport that teams use for transportation of their cars, equipments and personnels. Roadways, Airways and Waterways. Since all F1 teams are based in Europe, the teams use roadways as a means of transportation during the European races. Articulated lorries painted with the team colors transport the components. The picture below shows team lorries parked during a race weekend. Although this is for a Moto GP race, it's similar in case of F1.The car itself is transported boxed up with all its aero packaging removed.The car is kept on an elevated platform inside the truck cushioned in order to keep it from bouncing. The transportes can carry up to two cars at a time. The lower level is filled with other car parts. This video from Sauber will show you how.For international races, the teams have a combination of road, water and airways. The parts are grouped in to two types. Critical and noncritical. Critical parts include chassis, tires, engines, wings, computers and IT racks. Noncritical parts includes components in the garage like jacks, tools, etc. These parts can easily be procured in multiple sets and are not as costly as rest of the components. These parts are kept in sets of five to be shipped between two global race locations. One set is despatched to each of these first four flyaway races, three of those return to the Team HQ. The set from Malaysia goes straight on to Canada. The Singapore Grand Prix kit goes on to Brazil and the Japanese Grand Prix kit goes to Abu Dhabi. Russia, Austin and Brazil each get their own sets directly fem the HQ. Each team typically require 3 cargo containers for shipping. The critical components are transported using special charter planes provided by FOM with DHL currently serving as the logistics partner. Given the geographic location of all the F1 teams, these planes depart from London and Munich. Teams use specially designed cargo units to transport the delicate parts. These containers are designed in such a way that they take up minimum space in the hold and protect the components from excessive vibrations and other external forces. Okay. NYC to LV is approximately 2525 miles. With an average speed of 65 MPH, drive time is about 40 hours. But no one can possibly drive 40 hours straight thru. Also, you're not counting any traffic issues, food and/or fuel stops, etc. Assuming you're going to travel for 15 hours a day - allowing 8 hours for rest, and 1 hour for misc. stopping, it will take about 2 2/3 days to drive. That's also assuming there's no side trips to sightsee or anything like that. Many of the national rental car chains allow unlimited miles, but I don't know if they'll allow THIS many miles. You need to check specifically. For a midsize car, you're looking at an average of $600 for a weeklong rental - picking it up at LaGuardia and dropping off the car in Vegas - double that to drive back to NY. That does not figure in gas, any additional fees (i.e. under 25 driver, insurance, etc.) or any possible tolls.

Help! My dog won't come out from under the porch!?
My boyfriend just adopted a 4 month old Great Pyrenees puppy. He hasn't learned his name yet and hasn't learned to come yet, we just barely got him started on his training. My boyfriend went to jail for 4 days and I've been taking care of the dogs. The puppy, Atlas, hasn't eaten anything for 2 days and keeps eating grass to throw up, I think he's sick. I went to the store to buy some canned dog food and when I came back the dog was underneath the porch. I called him and coaxed him and no matter what I do he won't come out. This dog doesn't play with toys and he hasn't been eating and he doesn't know to come when he's called yet. How do I get him out? I'm afraid he might starve if I don't get him out and to the vet.
