How Do Figure Out What You Want To Be In Life

What if you haven't figured out what you want to do with your life?

I have not figured that out yet. And I am already 59. It has not made any difference to me so far. Live in the present is my motto. Living in the past or in future is such a waste of time.I see most people doing the same thing as me but are ashamed to admit due to such a big hype attached to goal setting and improving personal productivity etc.Like I have said somewhere, on daily basis I keep on doing the things I like or am obliged to do. Every day has ample on offer to chose from to fill all my waking hours.Sometimes I wonder whether "my personality" is nothing but an impression the majority others are carrying about me.

What age is it best to figure out what you want to do with your life?

Definitly not youth, childhood, infancy, teens, etc. Why?Because as a human being you're still forming. Your brain is not fully developed/functional until after a certain age. You haven't gone through many emotional experiences yet. How can anyone in society demand that these choices be made at a young age? This baffles me.Granted, many people start from youth immediatly homing on one thing they like doing. They do, I will not deny that. However, much, much more, simply do not know, and it is my point that they shouldn't be pushed/forced to decide, whatever the rational justification otherwise. The educational systems (and the structures presented to youth, in general) should be focused in providing experience and exposure to many different subjects, activities, andconcepts; and then letting people choose,step-by-step that what they're curious, interested about. That would allow them to discover for themselves what it is they are really passionate about. But never forced or pushed to do so.But answering to the question literally, it's this: you most likely already know from within what you want do do, or, at least, your primary interests, the things you're interested, what moves you. It's a question of allowing yourself - and being allowed - to discover and explore that. Then, whichever age you come to the realization: "This is It. I Understand now. This is what I will do."...is the answer to the question.

How and when did you figure out what you want for the rest of your life?

To be honest: I have no idea. It’s not like you suddenly get a lightbulb over your head and you immediately know what you want to do for the rest of your life.In fact, most of the lightbulbs that show up are only temporary and can change at any moment.I thought I wanted to be an Astronaut for the rest of my life when I was 6 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Biologist for the rest of my life when I was 13 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Professional Gamer for the rest of my life when I was 16 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Psychologist for the rest of my life when I was 19 years old.And now I am thinking I want to be a Coach for the rest of my life, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes as well! What you have to understand is that you will never find the “true, one thing” that will make all that searching go away.Instead you just get closer and closer and, eventually, you will simply be doing what you wanted to do for the rest of your life… however, you only notice that in hindsight. So, to tell you the truth, I just realized that I was already doing what I wanted to do when I read this question! Not because I didn’t do it until now, but only because I didn’t think about it, and you shouldn’t either. To find what you love you simply chase what you love and grow what you love. That’s all!As you keep chasing joy and as you keep gaining experiences in doing the things that make you smile, leave you feeling excited and motivate you to do more you start filtering out the things that don’t.Before you know it, you will look back and realize that you are already doing what you want! And all you need to do is do more of what makes you smile and less of what doesn’t.It’s that simple.Stop being less than you can be and reach your goals.
