How Do I Answer Why I Got Fired

How do I answer why I got fired?

I use to work a Nordstrom's, a commission base retail store I got fired last mouth do to my sells, but I was great with customers had few customer letters and got rave review from my mangers about my customers service. I apply to Bloomingdales and got an interview. Bloomingdales is also a commission base retail store but I think I would be able to do better at Bloomingdales so what do I say to the interviewer about why I got fired if they ask.

How do I answer why were you fired?

This is a tricky one. You need to be honest, but at the same time make the situation as positive as possible.  Avoid cliche responses such as "there was a conflict of opinion about company policy". Providing the dismissal was nothing to do with criminal prosecution, or gross misconduct,  just stating that you wanted to change career direction, or move in to a different field of commerce/industry may be sufficient.  Remember that the person who is interviewing you, will call for references if you are to be offered the post. All though in your case this is going to be a bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted (sorry for the cliche); but before leaving a job, always make sure that you have a written reference in your hand. In English Law, you cannot give a bad reference; however, the way it is worded can be very subtle, and to a trained reader "read between the lines". Fortunately I have never been fired for misconduct, but have had medical issues which caused me to lose one job in particular and even with a good reference, the mention of the word "epilepsy"; made most employers/interviewers run for the hills. You need to think about the real reason you were dismissed, or your chose to resign and put it in the post positive light.

Can I get fired if I don't answer my phone when my work calls me wanting me to come in?

Many states are considered "employment at-will" states. This means that you can leave a job for any reason, and an employer can fire you for any--or NO-- reason except for those that are federally protected like race, religion, gender, or age (if you're over 40).

Thus, YES-- an employer CAN fire you if they wish, if they don't like your availability. In fact, I know of places that will not hire someone who can't work on Sundays even if the reason is because of church or religious obligations. This has held up in court, not because of religious discrimination per se, but because the employee's unavailability for Sunday work was a "bona fide" occupational requirement for that job, and the fact that someone wasn't available on Sunday posed a hardship on the employer. If it's an "at will" state, then yes, they can fire you.

Ever got fired/quit a job?

If so, why did you quit/get fired? What happened? I've never been fired from a job but I quit a job because I wasn't happy. I felt like everything I did was wrong and my managers were never satisfied.

How do I answer the "Were you ever fired?" question on applications? I was fired by a bully boss two jobs ago, and I think it's affecting me now. It's taking 8 months to find work. Applications have "Yes"/"No" as answers, so I can't just finesse it.

You should have a typed resume, and avoid the application. That would only need a listing of your positions and duties and accomplishments during whatever period, your education and a personal brief statement.

What Are Some Signs, You Are About To Get Fired?

When co-workers tell you that people are about to get fired, and some changes will be made. I know it's unprofessional of bosses, but sometimes they will tell the people they plan to keep first of their plans to let someone go. But you know people talk, and somehow the information leaks out.

The biggest sign is to watch how your boss tries to treat you. Do they respect you, praise your work, or try to talk down to you, or smile a lot in your face (sneaky)

Usually it's a chemistry you can feel in the air.

How do i break it to my family that i got fired?

Yeah, lying makes things harder. You have to remember what you said .

A better term than fired is let go. I don't know why you lost your job. Maybe it was your job performance or something you did. Or maybe like I say below something the company does to save money.

First of all, do you qualify for unemployment? If so, do the paperwork asap. They are going to ask you why you were fired. Google and find out how to apply in your state. Some want you to do it online.

In these times, companies hire people then let them go before their benefits or unemployment kick in. It is a cost cutting measure. See companies have to pay into a fund when they let qualified workers go. So it might not have been you. That is why you need to talk it out with people.

The unemployment office may have a person who does resumes and generic cover letters. They can sit there in fifteen minutes and compose something that will take you hours to do. They e-mail to you so you can print or send them from your computer. They also have job listings and programs you take advantage of.

Do you know about the Job Corps. www.jobcorps.gov 800-733-JOBS. Check them out.

With the help of friends and family find an explanation of why you were fired to give a prospective employer. Remember you were let go not fired unless they gave you a letter with that wording. Reason I say that is sometimes it is asked on an employment application. You don't want to go there.

If you were let go do to job performance. Turn it into a positive. You didn't have the competency in the skills required to do well at job. If it was do to being late or not showing up, use being let go was a wake up call to be more responsible and mature. Again google and there will be stuff that tells you how to handle losing a job on interviews and employment applications.

Re your family. They lecture because they care. Use what they are saying to improve.

Good luck.

My 16 year old son got fired at work?

He works at Walmart. He is a high school dropout and lives at my house in his bedroom. The way he works at Walmart despite dropping out is because he got a job there before he dropped out and that was a month ago. Today at Walmart, he was driving to work, and he saw an old lady cross the street. Instead of waiting for her to get across, he just drove while she was walking and he did it on purpose. Thankfully, he didn't kill her or seriously injure her, but he ran over the grocery cart, destroyed about $400 worth of groceries, and damaged the cart. He got fired, I had to spend about $400 on all the groceries, and I currently have to pay for all the repairs. I tried to ground him and make him to extra chores as a punishment, but he didn't listen to me and instead he is playing Fortnite in his room. I hated his guts since the day he dropped out of high school! WHAT DO I DO ABOUT HIM?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
