How Do I Ask My Parents For Braces

My parents won't let me get braces?

I've been asking and saving up for braces for two years and have accumulated over $1000 towards the treatment which would cost me $3500. My parents ALWAYS see the money part of the situation, and only the money. They think of my teeth as just a tiny gap which in fact it's not, my teeth are all jutted out, crooked and make me feel really insecure. They don't see it as a way to make me feel better about myself, to boost my self esteem. We're not struggling financially so it's not like we can't afford it, with the small monthly payments i'm sure we can.

How can i win them over? Please don't say oh just save up more money, i can't, that $1000 was given to me by a family member and i'm not at the legal age to get a job. I'm already selling small things at school but that doesn't pay much. Any way to convince them to finally get them, i just get really sad when they only think about the cost and not the outcome of it for me.

Sorry this is quite a read, thanks for taking the time though.

How do I ask my parents for braces?

I am 15 and my 12 year old sister is getting braces tomorrow. Her teeth are terrible and mine aren't too bad, but are perfect compared to hers. Our parents can afford braces for both of us but would rather not have to pay for both. My sister's braces will be costing them $6000. Whenever I ask my parents about getting braces they just say no cause I don't need them badly. It just seems like everyone my age either has braces now or has had them in the past and everyone is going to have PERFECT teeth except for me! I don't want to sound jealous when I ask my parents but I think that it is really unfair that my sister will have perfect teeth when she's older and I wont....... Please help :(

I want braces but I'm afraid to ask my parents?

so I'm 15 and I've always hated my smile. I NEVER smile with my teeth in photos, I just kinda give this smirk. my teeth aren't terrible, it's just that my top row has an overbite which really screws up my smile. I really want something to correct them (idk if it's braces or a retainer etc.) but, I know they cost thousand of dollars. my dad has dental insurance, and he makes good money, but he's handling a lot of expenses right now (brother just got a car, car insurance). but this issue is really bothering me right now, and I want to get my teeth fixed before I'm out of hs. when I turn 16 I'm willing to get a job to help pay for them. I just don't know what to say to my dad when I ask him. any help?

How do I ask my parents for braces?

Your dentist will recommend that you see an orthodontist if he/she deems it necessary. If you have a concern about crooked teeth, then by all means talk to your parents about it.There is nothing special about asking your parents for braces. Just open the discussion. If you are looking at braces strictly for “appearance” (this is popular in SE Asia, braces just to have braces, as stupid as that seems), then give Mom and Dad a break….they do not need to waste money on that.

How can I convince my parents to get me braces?

It's not like I really, really need braces. I have fairly straight teeth on the top. But my bottom teeth are a whole nother story. There's all kinds of gaps and teeth that kind of lean on each other. The point is, I feel like getting braces would enhance my life in the future and make me more confident. But every time I ask my parents to get me braces, they talk about how expensive they are and how I don't need them. It's not like we're poor, either. They can totally afford to get me braces. They just don't think I need braces. But, in the long run, kids who get braces always end up with better teeth than the kids who didn't. Whether they needed the braces or not. And my dentist even told me I needed braces when I was 13. I'm 16, now. And I can't think of any other way to convince my parents other than constant begging. But that'll probably get me yelled at. I need some tips on convincing my parents to get me braces. Any help?

Why wont my parents get me braces?

I think deeper issues are at work here.

I'm scared to ask for braces. Should I?

Okay I'm 14 an for a few years I've wanted them, but I have never gotten the guts to ask for them to my parents. My dentist said I should probably see an orthodontist a few months ago, but my mom already forgot about it. The only reason I am having trouble asking is because I am worried that I am a little late for braces and people at school and in my family will look at me differently if I get them and I don't want anyone to talk about them if I get them. I still want colored braces because I think the other one look gross and I can look back when I'm older and smile at the pictures. I know my fear is irrational so can someone give me courage to ask.

How do I tell my parents I need braces? They are conscious that I need braces, however they think I'm a cry-baby and I won't bear them. Nevertheless, I really want to get braces.

I have had many cases where the parents wanted braces, but the kids resisted or refused, but rarely have I seen it the other way.It is possible that your parents are unwilling to make the financial investment in your smile. Or, it is possible that they don't feel that the appearance of your teeth is so bad. At any rate, you should have a frank discussion with your parents as to why they are resistant to your desires. If the true reason is financial, you could offer to earn some money by working part time to contribute to the cost.If the reason is that they don't feel it is necessary, then you have to convince them that you feel very self-conscious about your smile. Enlist the help of some of your friends who wear braces. They are often the best advertisement for braces. Also, ask the opinion of your dentist.

thats the same thing that happened to me. my parents didnt think i needed them but i thought i needed them. i kept on bugging them about and told them people kept talkign about me until they said yes. i wanted them so bad and i was happy when i got them. its been probably six months since i got them. but let me warn you. when you first get them [if you do] they are going to hurt like HELL! but yeah just keep telling them that people are talkign about you at school and that you feel ugly and they give in. How do I convince my parents to get me braces?

Braces are a very expensive investment for parents to make. I don’t want to sound mean, but just because you say you need them does not mean you really need them. The first step is for your dentist to say you need them and for him to refer you to an orthodontist. After that examination, you will know to what extent how bad your teeth are. The orthodontist will give your parents different options, discuss cost and financing. The money is what can be a problem.Depending on how old you are, you could offer to get a part-time job or a babysitting job on the weekends to help pay the expense of getting braces. If money is an issue, your income, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference in when and how soon you are able to get braces.Try to put yourself in their shoes before you get too upset with them if they are unable to pay for braces. Remember, they most-likely have rent/mortgage, insurance (at least auto), there are lights, phone, water, cable/satellite, and probably internet they are paying. Plus they have to pay for food and any expenses that arise medically. Also consider they are paying for your school expenses too. You know lunch, clothes, school pictures, etc. And then, if they are saving money for you to go to college, that is another expense.I am not trying to discourage you from asking them about braces. They may have insurance that would pay for them once they meet a deductible. If you have a part-time job or are babysitting, mowing lawns, etc., you can help pay the deductible with your income. The way I have always gotten my best results in a situation involving an expense the amount of braces is to have a plan written out. Do your homework. Find out if you have insurance, and if so, what the deductible is. Make sure you have every base covered when it comes to the financial side. The medical/dental side will come with the referral from your dentist.I wish you much success in fixing any issues you have with your teeth whether it is braces or simply a retainer.
