How to stop yahoo messenger from signing out automatically on my laptop?
Hi, This is a common problem as the built-in 'NAT Firewall' inside your routers periodically block the connection to the messenger. Usually this happens as soon as someone on your contact list signs in, or something like that. Anyways the best way to solve this is is to first sign into yahoo messenger, then access Messenger -> Preferences. Go to the connections page from the list on the left. Here, change the mode from 'no proxies' to 'Firewall with no proxies'. Why? This makes Yahoo Messenger use a direct HTTP (port 80) to connect to the internet, which the firewall never really blocks because internet browsers etc. connect through this port. Alternatively, you could try to turn off the NAT firewall on your router, if possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Hope this helps.

This may be because you've (somehow) enabled the "Start Messenger every time I start my computer" option. Absolutely THE most annoying of all the Messenger options! Here's how to stop it. Open Messenger (or in your case, just sign on) click Messenger on the toolbar, scroll to Preferences and click. Click General and in the very top box, take the check mark OUT of the box next to "Automatically start Messenger", click Apply, then OK and immediately restart your computer to finalize these changes. The next time you turn your computer on Messenger will not open, I promise! .
