Program has stopped working message?
I have been using Sony Sonic Stage 4.3 (music program) for 6 1/2 years, First with Windows XP, and now with a 2 year old Toshiba Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. Anyways, after all of this time, the program keeps auto shutting down with an error of 'program needs to shut down, Windows is looking for a solution. I've run a spyware program and anti virus and found nothing. I know the program is discontinued and not supported by Sony anymore, but I cannot find a reason why this just stopped working. I have gone as far as reloading the program and all 1000+ CD music files. It worked for about a week, then started closing again. Any ideas? Please help. Thanks.
Programs ending with exe ?
exe means executable, so basically something you can start and run, usually with computers it's a program. Pretty much everything on your computer right now started off as exe, even the internet browser you are using. Depending on what you run, it can be harmful, for example, do not run any exe you get from email, even if you know the person who sent it, ask what it is first. There are also auto scans what when you click on an exe, it will scan and tell you if it's safe or not, course those are not free, and as far as malware and spyware goes, there are a LOT of great free programs you can download (yes exe, but trusted) and run scans Malware Bytes (google it) is great for removing stuff, and there is a free version
How should I remove this damn virus?
First Install Antivir free edition and malware bytes to another computer that works. Second remove the hard drive from the computer that has the virus. Third use and adapter, enclosure or anything to connect the hard drive to the working computer. If the files in the hard drive that is infected is not big please use a connector or adapter using USB. Else please try to connect the hard drive using SATA or IDE cables. (Note to connect this way the computer needs to be turn off. Fourth booth the computer and star Avira and scan the hard drive with it. After scan is complete star Malware Bytes and scan the hard drive with it. If it found any viruses it will let you know. PLEASE BACK UP ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT DATA BEFORE DOING THIS AS MANY VIRUSES ATTACH THEMSELVES TO WINDOWS FILES AND AFTER YOU DELETE THE VIRUS YOU COULD ALSO BE DELETING THE WINDOWS FILE. SO NEXT TIME YOU BOOTH UP THE COMPUTER WINDOWS WILL NOT BOOTH UP PROPERLY. Hope this helps

In internet explorer go to tools > internet options > programs > manage add-ons and remove the add-ons that the adware has placed there.
