How Do I Choose The Rifle On Battle For Survival

Which .308 battle rifle would you prefer to have in an apocalypse/survival/combat situation?

Well, for a Main Battle Rifle, I’d look for three: the FN FAL/L1A1, the G-3/HK 91, and the M14/M1A1. One might think my USMC and Marine bias would have me inclined to the M14, and there’s a lot of good there, the FN FAL is LONG and awkward, the G-3 because of it’s design has a massive receiver, but there are other considerations. This is the apocalypse, facing long-term considerations. The notion of reloading as a concern exists, and as well all know, the G-3 does a bad number on brass, so much so that it’d eliminate itself from the running in a long-term situation. Reloading might not be a primary consideration in combat, but in too many desperation, long-term scenarios, it’s vital, so that eliminates the G-3.So that’s between the FN FAL/L1A1 and M14. Well, is it a metric or a standard version of the SA-58? It makes a huge difference, with the magazines. If it comes with magazines, that’s not a consideration. I also know that the L1A1 in Rhodesian service and of their Make, I think it’s the R1, is an excellent brush gun, capable of being carried and used over incredible distances, out on patrols that go on for months, in horrible, dusty conditions. In contrast, the M14/M1A1, I know, can get ‘sticky’, in some conditions, including very hot and cold ones, and that you have to kick the charging handle to get it clear whereas the SA-58 isn’t like that. Another consideration is having read an article about some African rebel group, they had some beat up L1A1’s that were in appalling condition, might not even function on semi automatic, but dang if they weren’t keeping them working with old brass, bastardized, cut down .30–06 casings, AK bullets, and such! Even if they had to use them as a funky single shot rifles! So, even though I’m more familiar with the M14, I’m going to opt for the FN FAL.

What would you choose as the most efficient battle rifle between HK G3, FN FAL, and M14?

They are all comparable NATO rifles, using the same ammo, and of similar weight and capability. I’ve only shot the G3, but have also fired the AR10s (another basically similar platform) and an M1 Garand (similar to the M14 in many respects.)In terms of proof in actual combat, the nod would have to go to the FN FAL which saw extensive action all over the globe, and was generally highly regarded. In all cases, these rifles are heavy, basically reliable, unable to use full auto fire effectively, but very accurate and hard hitting.Their generally universal replacement by lighter rifles firing the 5.56 cartridge is an indication of their fundamental shortcomings. While some argue that they are superior to the lighter weapons, history has shown that for most soldiers the lighter weapons are more effective in most modern combat.

In what scenario would you survive a rifle shot?

The only guaranteed way to survive getting shot by any gun is by not getting shot in the first place.Otherwise, all bets are off.I once heard of a surgeon at the trauma department that as far as gunshot wounds, it’s never “just a flesh-wound”. Some people get shot in the head and walk away the same day(yes, it happens, the bullet passed through the skull but missed the brain completely). Others get hit in the hand and bleed out minutes later.

If you could choose one weapon only to survive a harsh man made disaster, what would you choose and why? I would choose any AK-variant chambered in 7.62X39mm.

I can only assume that the questioner is an USA citizen, born with the firm belief that the possession of a firearm solves all problems. That leads to the question of how your AK-variant however chambered would assist your survival in this man-made disaster of yours? So what “man-made disaster”? A pandemic of superbugs created accidentally in a laboratory? Climate change super heating the planet and frying everyone? Rising sea levels threatening half the world with drowning or goings someplace else? Your gun might give you access to increasingly scarce food for a while until you run out of ammunition, at which point the other members of your community will kill you (and possibly eat you!). At the very most it might give you some preservation for a day or two. There has always and always will be the only means to survive a disaster man-made or otherwise, and that is with human beings banding together for the common good. It has long been an imperfect solution but it is one that has evolved through international organisations like the UN, NATO, UNICEF and many others. None of those require the possession of a gun.A gun is not a means for survival — at best it is only a means of immediate self-preservation or offence, and when the ammunition runs out then so will your access to food!

Is the Ar 15 good for wilderness survival?

I know the AK 47 is probably better. But what if you tote it through the woods and want to make some long style shots (200-500yds.)? Will it constantly jam? How inaccurate is the AK47?
PLEASE only answer if you have shot both many times. I know what the internet says, I just want to hear what someone else has to say.

What is the best rifle?

Decision to write an article identifying and singing the praises of the 10 best survival rifles to own. And that's the actual title says at the top of this post. That being said, listing the 10 "best survival rifles" requires real compromises. Really a cold hard reality that a single perfect survival rifle doesn't can be found. There are too many unique survival scenarios to consider.Plus, owning five survival rifles won't do you much good, until you have a very large family or a caddy to hold your weapons. So I made a decision to battle conventional wisdom and concentrate generally on the top five (or what We consider the best of each survival category) and then give you five runner-ups.But again, let me be crystal clear. One weapon can't do it all and eight options leave a great deal of room for less than stellar performance in various roles. It's kind of like expecting a dump truck to increase the speed of from zero to 60MPH in 4 seconds. Inside the right application, a dump truck is extremely useful, simply not when acceleration is the goal. The bottom line is survival situations vary, as well as the duties required of your endurance firearms. So what will be the roles we expect our survival rifles to play?I love to break down the key survival jobs into 5 broad categories:1. Hunting Small game2. Hunting Large game3. Perimeter-defense beyond two hundred yards4. Self-defense inside 200 yards5. Self-defense in close quartersBest Gun Safe - Best Gun safe Reviews for the moneyConsequently let's have a look at each activity and the best success rifles to accomplish them.
