How do you get old blu-tack off a whiteboard?
Somebody's used a whiteboard at work to stick stuff up on it using blu-tack. Now I can't clean the stuff off - any tips? Please no predictably facetious answers like "get the person who did it to clean it" or "buy a new whiteboard" - you need to work on your creativity ;-)

What can I do with an old whiteboard? My classroom whiteboard isn’t magnetic, but it’s so old that I can’t write on it without staining it. What are some creative ways to use it?
Repolish it. If it stains it's lost the surface and all you have to do is clean it and reapply that surface stuff. Any decent janitor should be able to help you with that. We do that pretty much every summer and sometimes in between when a new cleaner makes the rookie mistake of “cleaning” (ruining) the whiteboard.I don't think I've ever seen a whiteboard actually ruined except one that a student had stabbed repeatedly with a knife (aaand that got him kicked out).So.. How do you clean a whiteboard eraser?

Why is my whiteboard smearing so much?
I have a whiteboard in my classroom that I constantly use while teaching. While even using the whiteboard cleaner, my markers smear to no end. I currently have, what my students call, a blue board because of all the smearing. Is there something out there that I can use to get off all the smearing? It's driving me nuts, and it's pretty embarrassing.
Can we erase during a whiteboard interview?
If I’m the interviewer, and you’re at the whiteboard, then I’ve probably asked you to solve a problem.But I don’t just want you to solve the problem, I want you to teach me the solution. What you say, and how you communicate it, is much more important than what you write. If you need to erase to get your point across, go right ahead. If you need to erase to correct something you already did, go right ahead. I’m paying attention, though, and I notice everything.If you’re erasing because you’re confused, there’s really no way for you to hide that. I already know that. If you want to erase the entire solution and start over, I’m fine with that — just say that you want to start over. As long as there’s sufficient time left, no problem. (But if I ask you to give a C implementation of strlen(), and you want to start over after 5 minutes, things are already not looking too rosy for you…)Finally, note that sometimes erasing is actually part of the communication — if I gave you a problem involving a linked list manipulation, I might fully expect that you would draw a graphic representation of the list and walk me through the manipulation by erasing the old links and drawing new ones.
How do you remove permanent marker from a whiteboard?
Al-co-hol....umm....no. You don't want to use alcohol. Please. It will void any warranty on the board PLUS it'll strip the surface of your whiteboard. How do you remove sticker residue from a whiteboard?
I have a whiteboard in my classroom that I use for weekly schedule for my classes, but before I got ahold of it it had a series of name labels with a standard adhesive backing on it. While I was able to remove most of them ithout a problem, there are several that I couldn't get off completely so now every week when I erase the board, it has this residue on it that smears everywhere and makes parts of the board useless. I would welcome any ideas on how to remedy this problem.
