How Do I Edit Questions On This Website Yahoo.com/answers

How do you delete questions on Yahoo Answers?

Original question:How do you delete questions on Yahoo Answers?I want to delete some of my questions on Yahoo Answers because the answers aren't that helpful to me. Everyone keeps telling me to click on the blue pencil icon to delete my questions but they already have a best answer and I want to get rid of the ones that I have. Is there any ways that I can delete my own questions that I have on the site? Thanks. You cannot delete questions once you have an answer (or a best answer), just like on Quora. However, if no one has replied to your question yet, you can still delete it. The steps are as follows:Step 1: Go to your question. If you are at the home page, click on your name on the left (not the profile picture in the top right-hand corner) and click on ‘My Questions’.Step 2: Click the ‘Edit’ button and press ‘Delete question’. It is found over here:Hope this helps! :)

What is the difference in websites like quora.com, wiki.answers.com, ask.com, Stack Overflow, Answers.com, Answerbag.com and Yahoo Answers?

www.answers.com owns wiki.answers.com. Answers.com is more encyclopedia like, with knowledge from reputable sources. WikiAnswers is a Q&A site, but anyone can edit the answer or question. So there is only one answer which has been written by several people. Yahoo Answers has one question with multiple answers, so does stackoverflow. Quora adds another social element to the mix: you can follow topics and can mention other people. ask.com is a search engine.

Why doesn't yahoo let you delete questions?

Two reasons.

1. Yahoo went back to the original purpose of YA - to build a database of questions and answers. Deletions defeat that purpose. Yahoo gets paid by activity on YA, so they want to keep it.

2. There was great complaining because users were spending time giving good complete answers, just to have them deleted. Users were starting to think they were wasting their time and started skipping questions or giving short answers. This hurt the people really looking for answers.

Most users also do not understand the search engines pick up these questions quickly, so even deletion did not remove posts from the web unless it was done quickly.

Why is Quora more popular than Yahoo Answers? What elements make it the more popular Q&A site?

A couple of years back, early 2015 I guess, I wanted to know about the basics of big data and its importance in industry.I googled “What is Big data”The first link popped up was Wikipedia - I opened in a new tab and set it aside. The second link was from Yahoo answers. I opened and was looking for some useful information. There were answers like:I was confused, irritated and most of the answers didn’t answer the question. The next link which popped was from Quora.I could find answers like this:Answer was by Balaji Viswanathan (பாலாஜி விஸ்வநாதன்) sir. That is the moment I followed him and read his other answers too! And that was the moment i decided not to refer yahoo answers for anything in future.Unlike Yahoo answers, Why was the answer better? It summed up all the information - technical explanation with real life examplesPictures made it easier for me to connect with answerThe credential “Ran a Big data company” made me believe the answer is from someone trustworthy.Upvotes and comments of appreciation from people in related field made me feel secured about the answerComments were healthy and was debating its future application. So, with no further discussions, Quora is always better than Yahoo answers.
