If I erase my iPhone, will the photos in my "iCloud Photo Library" be deleted?

Thanks for the A2A.The short answer is no.When iCloud Photo Library is activated, the master copy of your pictures and videos get stored in iCloud.Erasing your iPhone happens at the device level and, despite erasing all the photos and videos at the same time, this does NOT send any signal to iCloud to do the same on the server. For this to happen, you need to manually tap on the small bin from inside the Photos app.In fact, even manually deactivating iCloud Photo Library from your iPhone keeps all your pictures and videos safely stored in iCloud too.The thing is, if you intend to sell or give away your iPhone, it’s best to manually sign out of iCloud first, which will deactivate iCloud Photo Library anyway. For more information about the complete procedure, have a look at this Apple Support article:What to do before you sell or give away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touchHope this helps!

How can you recover older iMessages?

To recover older iMessages, there are three ways to complete the job: using iTunes, using iCloud, and using some professional iMessages recovery app. If you have backed up your iMessages to iCloud or iTunes you should be able to restore your iPhone old iMessages from the backup.Method 1. Recover Older iMessages with iTunesIf you are sure that the iTunes backup you made before contains the old iMessages, then this could be an efficient way to retrieve older iMessages. But this way will erase everything on your device before recovering, and then put all data from the backup to your device. So, you’d better make a backup of the current files on your device firstly.Open iTunes on your computer and connect your device to the computer with its USB cable.Select your device when it appears in iTunes. Then choose 'Restore backup' option.Choose the backup stores your old iMessages, and then click Restore and wait for the restore time to finish.Method 2. Recover Older iMessages with iCloudSimilar to iTunes way, restoring from iCloud will also erase your device, and then put all things from the iCloud backup to your device. If you are not quite sure that the iCloud backup contains your wanted iMessages, this way is not recommended.Go to Settings app on your device > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will delete all media and data and reset all settings. After the erase finished, now you can start setting up your iPhone. (Language , country and keyboard)Follow the onscreen setup steps until you reach the Apps & Data screen, then tap Restore from iCloud Backup option.Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID. Choose Backup and start to restore iMessages and everything to your device.Method 3. Recover Older iMessages with iMessages Recovery AppIf above two ways fail to help you retrieve your wanted iMessages, then the last way to get them back is to use some safe and professional iMessages recovery app, which can help you find out the older iMessages hidden on your iPhone or iPad, and get them back to your device.Hope my answer gives you a good reference and help you recover your older iMessages successfully. Good Luck.

How do you add or remove a phone number associated with iCloud/iMessage?

Set up your phone numberOn your iPhone:Go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. You might need to wait a moment for it to activate.Tap Send & Receive. If you see “Use your Apple ID for iMessage,” tap it and sign in with the same Apple ID that you use on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch. In the "You can receive iMessages" section, make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected.Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected in the "You can be reached at" section. On your other devices, you can now turn on the phone number that you just set up:Turn on your phone number for your MacTurn on your phone number for your iPad or iPod touchRemove your phone numberIf you don't want calls or messages for your iPhone on your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, you can remove your phone number. There are two ways to do this:On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Select your Apple ID and tap Sign Out. Then go to Settings > FaceTime, select your Apple ID and tap Sign Out.If the phone number that you want to remove belongs to an iPhone that you can't access, change your Apple ID password. How To Recover Old iCloud Photos?

So, I had an iPhone a while back and it was stolen, but all my pictures were on my iPhoto/iCloud hooked up to my macbook so I didn't really mind; however, last week my computer crashed and I had to get a new hard drive for it (its third hard drive since I got it a year ago... surprising. My faith in apple products is starting to falter.) Anyway, all my pictures were on there, and when I set up my computer, I signed in with my apple ID on iCloud and there's nothing in my iphoto library for some reason... Is it possible for me to retrieve my photos? If so, how?
Thanks. :)

I don't understand this bloody iCloud program?

I have the 32 GB iPod 5th generation. Today I tried to download a 923 MB app free from the App Store. It would not download the app and responded with this message: "There is not enough available storage to download 'Beethoven's 9th Symphony for iPhone.' You can manage your storage in settings." So I followed the given direction and managed my storage in settings... Or at least I attempted to. I first turned off individual apps from backing up to iCloud. This did not help. I then turned off iCloud (I did not delete my iCloud account). The same message still appeared when I attempted to download the app. I thought about deleting my iCloud account, but I have no idea what iCloud even does. Someone please tell me how to fix this problem.

If I delete photos from my iPad, will they be deleted from iCloud?

It depends how you configured your iCloud account.iCloud Photo LibraryIf you activated "iCloud Photo Library", when you'll delete photos/videos from your iPad, those will be moved to the "Recently deleted" folder. After 30 days, those photos will be automatically (and permanently) deleted from iCloud, which I guess is what you’d like to avoid. If your real problem is the lack of space on your iPad, then I'd suggest to activate "Optimise iPad Storage":Open SettingsPhotos & Camera"Optimise iPad Storage"This will replace some of your pictures and videos with lower resolution versions which take much less space on your device.iCloud BackupIf you did not activate "iCloud Photo Library", but activated iCloud backups, then the space used on iCloud is coming from your backup. The deleted photos/videos from your iPad won't be included in the next iCloud backup, which means that they cannot be restored to a new device. My PhotostreamIf you activated My Photostream, then photos taken in the past 30 days will still be on iCloud’s servers even if you delete them from your iPad.Like with iCloud Photo Library, as soon as those photos are more than 30 days old, they will be removed from iCloud and can’t be downloaded on other devices anymore. Please note that Live Photos and videos are never uploaded to My Photostream.Alternative to iCloudIf you want a solution that allows you to delete photos/videos from your iPad, yet have them backed up and available remotely, then I'd recommend any of the 2 following strategies:1. Third-party Cloud storage solutionsAmong the most popular, you'll find Google Photos, Dropbox and OneDrive. The way this work is about the same:Install a companion app on your iPadGoogle PhotosDropboxOneDriveLog into your cloud storage accountManually upload all the pictures from your iPad to the Third-party cloud storage serversActivate the automatic upload of new photos & videosDelete unwanted photos and videos from your iPad2. Personal Network Attached Storage (NAS)In this case, rather than relying on a third-party, you'll upload your pictures directly onto a hard drive that you control (and most of the time attached to your router at home). For more information, visit this answer: Damien Schreurs's answer to How can I back my iPhone data (photo/video) to a NAS drive?Hope this helps!

If I restore my iPhone, will I lose everything? How can I stop this from happening?

When you restore your device (iPad,iPhone) it erases everything and then reinstalls the core applications and OS.Backups are for times when you loose your device, it gets damaged, or you are upgrading to a new device. Apple has setup iCloud to allow you to back up your device completely. It also has provided a way to restore everything except the applications without having to restore from a backup. Why you might ask?Your device has a lot of things going on in the background besides what programs you are using. All this activity and changes are captured in the backup. Sometimes communication between backup (done through WiFi) gets garbled. Sometimes the garble happens in the device you are using that causes problems. Those problems are saved in the full backup. If Apple runs diagnostics on your device and there are no errors, then the issue you are having is most likely software. When this happens you need to restore your device to factory settings and set up as a new device. You can not restore from a backup without putting the problem back on the device.By turning iCloud Photo Library on, and set to put originals in the cloud, and turning on from the main iCloud page the items like contacts, etc. these are backed up separately. Then after the restore all you need do is log into your iCloud account after selecting set up as new. All your photos will come back along with contacts, messages, etc. Only the applications will need to be reinstalled and the device personalized after.
