How Do I For The Rcmp

How do I sue RCMP?

I presume that you are from CANADA. And I have reasonable belief that RCMP means ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE.You can certainly sue RCMP, if you are a victim of their illegal action, or misuse of power, authority and jurisdiction. You have to file a Law suit against them and most probably before the Federal Court... The court may take you case either in individual capacity, or treat the same a class action. The court may certify, if it has to be treated a class action. There were several complaints for abuse and misuse of power as also the harassment... The Canadian news paper has had prepared and published the news, information and data. You may click on the following link to basically get an idea about the same.http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/...The answer is based on general knowledge and may not be taken as a legal advise.

How are the RCMP and the FBI similar?

They are both similar in that they serve the role of each country’s principal federal law enforcement agency, although they do this in rather different ways. Both are federal law enforcement agencies that report to the federal government of each country, and have additional resources and training that local or state police forces do not. That being said, the RCMP has several functions that the FBI doesn’t have or are undertaken by other agencies in the USA. For instance, the RCMP provides patrol services to certain territories in Canada on a contract basis, in areas that don’t have their own local police (this would usually be done by state or county authorities in the USA), provides protection to the PM and other high-ranking authorities (generally done by the US Secret Service), and so forth. Also the FBI functions as a domestic intelligence agency for the USA, whereas this is more the role of the CSIS in Canada.

Can I choose were I am posted in the rcmp?

You cannot choose your postings, but give them your preferred postings before you finish recruit training at Depot Division. If they can, they will try and accomodate you. As long as you are reasonable of where you ask: Victoria is very popular, however they do send recruits in that area of the Island. Victoria has a City Police Force, however there are hundreds of RCMP stationed in and around Victoria. Edmonton has a city police force, however it's also the headquarers nlocation for the Force and houses specialized many plain clothe sections . . but these sections do not take recruits. You can go there after about 5 years service is selected.

Vancouver itself has a City Force however there are at least 2,500 RCMP officers in the lower Mainland (LMD) and this is a reasonable place to ask for with probabilities of getting it. This area always has need for more members and the officers outside of the LMD do not want to go there due to the high cost of living, so it's mainly recruits.

Out of the 3 areas, you can most likely get the Vancouver area.
Having said all that it also depends on where the needs are when you graduate from training. If it is spring to early summer, a good chance you could end up in a small remote lcoation in BC (Limited Duration posting) as that is when officers come out on their rotation and it's cost free to put a recruit in (the Province saves money) and that is where the need is.

Williams Lake is a nice town and was my favorite posting out of the 26 locations I was stationed while a member.

How long does it take to become an RCMP?

Only Canadian citizens may join the RCMP.

Depot training in Regina is 6 months long, but the selection process takes about 2 years to complete, due to the extensive background checks, and the personal and physical tests.

The RCMP and the Canadian Forces have quite different tasks and skill sets, so no it would not be easy to do a lateral transfer, even from the CF Military Police service to the RCMP. CF Military Police are sworn peace officers with full powers of arrest, in all parts of Canada, and any where overseas that CF members are stationed, for example in Haiti. The RCMP are the national Police force in Canada, but they are mostly assigned to small towns and isolated places in the north, as all of the large cities have their own municipal Police services, The largest population that the RCMP serves is a town in BC with 135,000 people. The RCMP has about 27,000 members .

Provincial officers, Ontario and Quebec, are fully trained and must meet the standards of the National Police Act.

What breed of horse are the RCMP horses?

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/mr-ce/ask-dem-...

You have to scroll down a bit, but I think all your questions are answered here

2. What breed are the horses?

The horses are predominantly thoroughbreds, although In March 1989, black Hanoverian broodmares and stallions were purchased to further supplement and improve our stock's bloodlines in relation to colour, substance and conformation. Hanoverians also have two predominant black lines in their breed, which benefits the bone structure and size. They are quiet by nature, almost lethargic, so crossing them with Thoroughbreds produces a well tempered horse with the desired confirmation.

6. Do you sell any of your horses?

In June 1995 the first auction sale was held to sell off surplus horses from our breeding program. These sales are being hosted by the Mounted Police Foundation and are planned for every two years from that date. The horses chosen for the sale are mostly young horses, yearlings and two to three year olds.

Each year the Musical Ride requires approximately 10 young horses to come in to training. Due to the success of our breeding program, the RCMP often has horses in excess of the 10 required. The horses for the sale are selected because they do not meet the criteria for a Musical Ride horse. Any further information regarding the sale can be found on the Mounted Police Foundation's Horse Auction page.

How do Canadians feel about the RCMP?

Canadians can rightfully be truly proud of this police force. RCMP officers do more with less than most police forces. They man isolated detachments where they are the only representative of the federal governmentThey are a national police force which also sub contracts to act at the city and provincial levelsThey are Canada’s equivalent of the FRI and the Secret ServiceThey perform ceremonial functions such as escorting dignitaries etc. They are recognized worldwide as a symbol of CanadaThey have served as UN PeacekeepersIt is rare to see a Mountie wearing their red uniforms and Stetson hats. It is even rarer to see them in dress uniform on horse back. But if you are fortunate enough to see the RCMP Musical Ride as a Canadian you can't help but stand a little bit taller.Oh yes, they may also stop you and ask you to buckle up.

What is the difference between the RCMP (in canada) and the FBI (in the states)?

The RCMP are a "national police" and they enforce the law in all Provinces. They do everything from patrol work, to investigations to dignitary protection. They are very different from the FBI, which is an agency that investigates violations of Federal Law (only). They have NO JURISDICTION to arrest for state crimes.

Sorry to hear you are moving to Canada.
