How to forget bad memories?

Most bad memories are propelled by a grudge. These thoughts are labeled by us as "bad" and therefore remain in the easily retrieved parts of our brain. It is difficult to answer this question because the answer requires a reverse approach. To forget the bad is to remember the good. It could be the good in the bad event or the good which came from the bad. From every loss a win or more can be found!

You need to realise that there's nothing you can do to change the past but you can always improve the future. Look at the decisions you've made in ur life and see what consequences were brought from it. Learn from the past live for the future.....
be grateful for what you've got and interest yourself in a challenging activity for you to strengthen your personality. This won't be easy, but it isn't impossible

How to make my wife forget bad memories?

Hello there,

I have been married for 1 year. For the last one year, my wife and I have been fighting a lot about our marriage. The marriage and the honeymoon that followed did not bring any pleasant memories. It was very hectic, did not really give us lot of time to be with each other, caught up with religious ceremonies, unpleasant location of honeymoon. All this resulted in really bad memories.

To add to injury my wife's visa got rejected and she did not get a chance to travel with me. This forced us to stay away from each other for about 2 months which was very painful. My wife had to live with my parents which was not an environment she could relate to. I was insensitive at that time and did not understand I should let her live at her parents place.

All this has resulted in lot of fights between us. I really want to help her forget all this by doing something special. I have tried a few things like taking her on a surprise trip which we both enjoyed a lot. Flowers, giving her a nice greeting card along with morning tea that I made on a Saturday. I understand it is not enough. She tells me that any normal husband would do all these things. What special are you doing to get rid of the bad past? And I have really run out of ideas. I really need your help.

Why do i have such a bad memory?

Yeah if you've ever done drugs that could certainly be a factor. Did you have a good childhood? If not, many people who had a bad childhood can't remember it because they subconciously blocked it out. Also your present health could have something to do with it too. Drinking alcohol often, lack of sleep, bad nutrition, drugs, or simply just because you have too many other things to keep track of. But even though it may seem like it's all forgotten, it isn't. Just wait a while. depending on the underlying reason for your bad memory, your memory should get a little clearer with time. Looking at a lot of old photos might help too. Hope it gets better!! :)

How can I forget my past memories which hurt me a lot?

Doesn't it seem a bit funny that we want to hold on to every good, happy memory but forget all the bad , dark moments of our life? That's when we realize how difficult it is to do that. We have only one brain and we ask it to be biased towards any one of the two sides of our lives.Bad memories, past nightmares are as important as the good ones. People say that the people who are able to move on are the people who are strong. They forget to add one thing. Moving on does not mean forgetting the dark times. Being strong does not mean ‘to forget', it means to ‘to accept it, and still move forward'. Just keep one thing in mind. You don't need to forget the past memories to move forward. You just have to treat them as your friends and tell your demons that ‘you know what, you cannot make a hell here, for me, no matter how hard you try'. Start treating them as something very normal and just don't give a lot of attention to them. Its already happened. How do you forget the bad memories of betrayal by very close people you thought were your friends?

Betrayal cuts deep, especially from someone close. Varying situations could call for a different answer, but mine is this: Realize that you liked those people for who you believe they were, and try and see if what they did to you was purely cynical or just to save their own asses. Try and look at the whole situation from a different angle and see what you can take away from it. Don't keep looking at it as a catastrophe but use it as a tool to learn, take away something from it. I believe human suffering is essential in the learning process because it helps shock you into re-evaluating who you are which can help you grow.  The point is not to forget, but become stronger than the pain of those memories. It will not happen over night, but never deem yourself as useless or too weak to conquer something, believe in your ability!
