How do I find a job as a doctor in Canada after finishing medical residency in the USA?

That should be dead easy, especially if you are a family physician or primary care physician. As I drove down the Number 1 Highway recently there was a billboard sign outside the town of Chase BC advertising for physicians. I wish I had stopped to take a photo. But there are also jobs posted on the BC health recruiting site. There are other similar job sites in each province.British Columbia Physician, Nurse, and Allied Health Recruitment - CanadaOntario Jobs Search ResultsNova Scotia Health Authority, etc.use a google search “ doctor recruitment” to find the others.

How can a foreign graduate become a doctor in Canada?

It varies greatly from province to province. If you’re a new graduate, Canada does have intern and residency spots for graduates of eligible schools. If you’re still in school, talk to your school’s placement officer to see what’s available. If you can get one of the coveted intern or resident spots, you should be able to get at least a work permit with no problem, and that’s a good path to permanent resident status. If you’ve been practicing, you can apply for open positions in a hospital setting. Forget about independent practice for a while, that’s very hard for someone just moving here, no matter how qualified (although clinic practice is possible).Open positions are usually in undesirable places with a shortage of medical personnel. Provinces like New Brunswick and Newfoundland actively recruit foreign trained physicians, and getting licensed to practice in those provinces is easier, although you will most likely get a limited license that only allows you to practice in areas with a designated need, generally smaller cities. However, if you’re looking at the holy grail of Ontario, that’s very tough. Ontario has enough doctors so they put everyone through the same process. You will have to fight for one of the residency spots available for foreign trained physicians, and they are always full. In addition, there is a standard medical examination. All the provinces have it, but the smaller provinces will waive it if they need you and you are willing to work someplace undesirable. In Ontario, it’s mandatory and you only get three shots. Once you pass that and do the Canadian residency, congratulations, you’re in.The main problem that doctors have in getting licensed in Canada has nothing to do with their medical knowledge. In a lot of cases, foreign trained physicians totally bomb out of residency programs because they treat patients badly. They’re dismissive and have no patience when a patient questions their advice. Canadian doctors used to be like that too, but they found it led to bad health outcomes because patients would go along at the doctor’s office so as not to make the doctor mad, then go home and not follow the doctor’s advice. But don’t give up. My second family doctor was from Jamaica and treated me from when I was five until I was 35 and moved out of the neighbourhood. He was funny, well respected, and took care of my parents and sister too.

Can you go and see a medical doctor anonymously in Canada?

If it's anything like here there are walk in centres where you can request for stuff to be left off your medical records. However, with mental health they are unlikely to agree. More importantly, there are anti-discrimination laws. I don't know about in Canada but here it is as illegal to discriminate against someone with an mental health problem as it is someone in a weelchair, of a minority race, age, gender etc. If it is causing major problems, particularly if it is ocd of impulses please go get help.

Do any doctors in Canada perform Laser treatment (Laser Vitreolysis) in Canada?

I know ophthalmologists who have the laser needed to do it, but I don't know anyone who actually does the procedure -- or believes that it's really of much benefit, frankly. I'm assuming you're asking as a treatment for floaters; the odd time that they need to blast a small chunk of vitreous for other reasons (like small retinal detachments) lots of ophthalmologists will do it.

Can a Indian specialist doctor work at Canada?

You will have to take a series of examinations. The basic ones that every Canadian medical student takes plus an exam specifically for International medical graduates. Depending on how the Royal College of Canada assesses your training you may have to repeat a residency (and it’s not easy to get one), do the written and oral exams of the Royal College of Canada in your speciality, possibly do a supervised year . It will be possibly easier if you are prepared to work in a severely under serviced area. Everyone wants to work in Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver. If you can arrange an appointment in a hospital in a an areas where you are desperately needed then the employers may be able to help you. It’s very tough and there are many excellent specialists who come to Canada who are not able to work as physicians.I suggest you look at the MCC —Medical Council of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada web sites and they will give you a lot of information. Do not come to Canada until you know exactly what you will have to do to get a license to practice. Too many doctors come with unrealistic expectations and are disappointed. If you are in a country with access to a Canadian Embassy you could contact the educational attache there and ask for information too. Good luck

CAN RUSSIAN GRADUATED DOCTORS WORK IN USA AND CANADA?

No chance. There are no longer enough hospital residency positions for American graduates of US medical schools. Since passage of Obummercare laws, half of the private practices, clinics, etc, have closed, sold, or merged, with many more still up for sale. Hospitals have been closing departments & laying off staff at every level from attending physicians to janitors. Even if you passed all three phases of USMLE, your chances of getting any job in the US are practically nil. Russian medical degree is not well regarded anyway.

USMLE: of the foreign-trained med school graduates who ever make it to Phase 3, less than half ever pass.

If your country of citizenship accepts a Russian medical degree for admission to Malaysia's medical exams, you need to pass your exams there & practice in Malaysia. You're neither needed nor wanted elsewhere. Foreign medical students attending Russian med schools are not allowed to remain in Russia.

Since you are a Malaysian citizen, you really need to go to Malaysian or Singaporean medical school to qualify to practice in Malaysia.
