How do I become a Disneyland Sketch Artist?
I wanted to know how does someone become one of the artists that works in the Disneyland park where you see them in the window sketching or at one of the Main Street shops where they draw whatever Disney portrait a guest chooses. Specifically what education and work experience is required and what their annual salary and benefits for working at Disney would be.
How does one draw the same character multiple times?
I'm trying to draw a couple comic strips revolving around a 14 year old boy. The problem is that, every time I draw the character, he turns out looking totally different. I mean, I try and keep the basic features the same (blond parted hair, freckles, ext) but I can't figure out how to draw the same version of him twice.
Whats the Difference between an Anime and Cartoon?
Well, the difference theoretically is not much. But there is a HUGE difference. Anime: Anime tends to be more realistic looking, but keeps sort of a bubbly look. Anime gets more serious, and sticks with humanistic features, but some will add in a lot of inhumane features. Like magic, or tails, or vampires, etc. Almost every anime (every anime I have come across) has a little bit of romance. Some of them more than others. Most anime male characters will have really spikey hair also. Anime is more of an emotional kind of thing. Most of all, anime comes from Japan. Cartoons: Cartoons are your poorly drawn, rough comedy sketches. All cartoons are made to be are comedy, that's why they look so poorly drawn. Cartoons tend to defy the laws of physics a lot more, and especially anatomy. You can find cartoons almost anywhere, but finding good ones is the problem. Cartoons are more for if you want to laugh, instead of anime where it touches all your emotions, or maybe just one. Depends on you. A lot of times cartoons will take place in another world, but sometimes the same world. Cartoons original started out with no voices, and now they have gone to scribbles drawn in real life videos (horrible, I know.). You can find a lot of cartoons on the channel cartoon network, from Warnerbrothers. So if you are looking for a comedy show, look at cartoons. If you are looking for something more (Everything combined, but with greater/lesser extents) you will want to look at anime. My personal choice is anime. One thing is certain though, Anime IS NOT A CARTOON, and cartoons ARE NOT ANIME. To the above answers, they are NOT the same. And anime does not = cartoon. Anime = Animation/Animated. Also, cartoons are not just american. Almost every country has their own cartoons. Japan even has their own cartoons that are not anime. Why? Because most people in Japan do not like anime (ironic).
Is Animation a good career option? Or should I think of back up plans?
Well, for starters. This is a good field to enter if you are really good at drawing. I think though you should have a backup plan. Although I am no animator here is what i think.The thing is that animation especially working with Pixar can be a good thing if you can work well with a selective group on a particular art project or ideas for a movie.I am not saying that working in a group isn't fun, this would great in that it Secondly, you have to be patient as in any job to be successful person. Your success on your own might take some time but with lots of encouragement from family and friends you would be on your way. There is a high rate for more 3D Artists lately so therefore you could try for that field if you want to do some aspect of art. There is even a program called Alice that could aid you if you need assistance for 3D Animation. Yes there is a lot of competition each year to become an animation artist. This is especially for entering Pixar and other large animation companies. Each year or so, Pixar only picks a small selection of animators.
