How Do I Get Into Modeling

How to get into modeling?

first of all, do NOT, under any circumstances go to modeling school. you will waste your money, as you do not need it and they will not teach you anything.

the best place to get important info if you are new is, believe it or not, http://www.newmodels.com
it is really a good starting point, and they have great, unbiased info. :)
the main thing: agencies. that should be your goal for the next few months or so. if you want to be VERY serious about modeling, and do it full time, then you pretty much have to get signed with an agency.

you may be too short for commercial print, but there will be some agencies that might take you, if you have strong/good looks.

how you get started is by getting some photos (either professional or not), and then emailing them, mailing them or going to the agency (aka "open call").
a good source for legit agencies is models.com

what commercial agencies will want to see is commercial photos. pretty much the type of photos you will see here:
http://www.the-lightbox.com/commercial.h...
http://www.the-lightbox.com/lifestyle.ht...

just you smiling and being a normal person.

if you go to the agency personally, and they do not take you, they will most likely give you some advice on what photos you need to bring next time, what other agencies you can go to, etc.

good luck! :)

How to get into modelling?

I am amazed at all the bad, wrong and misleading information people include in answers to this question. I have several working, professional New York model friends. Getting into modeling is really VERY easy, if you are model material. If you are 5' 9" +, with a 34-25-34 build, long legs, and you are even reasonably pretty, you are SO RARE that most agencies will sign you immediately. Truth. Modeling is almost entirely about your body, how clothes fit on you. If you are not those things, forget about being a model. Don't think runway and print are different; basically, all start out as runway, and the prettiest or most interesting-looking runway models get print assignments.

It is easy to get started. Set up a flickr.com account. Put up just a few, simple pictures; full body front, side and rear, in a plain bikini, and front and side face shots, hair up, no makeup. Put "aspiring model" in your profile. The agencies constantly search there, and will recognize immediately if you are qualified.

Be prepared, however, that almost all REAL modeling work is done in New York, LA, Chicago or Miami. If you aren't in one of those places, or prepared to go there, you really can't be a professional model. You can pretend and play around locally as an amateur, but thats about it.

If any "agency" asks you for money for anything, or refers you to anyone who asks you for money for anything (that includes lessons, photos, directory listing, websites, anything) then run away quickly. They are a scam.

"Commercial models" (models not qualified for runway) are really out of work actresses, and almost none of them ever get more than a few days of paid work a year.

How can I be a model?

Practice. Like any skill, it takes practice and study.Study the poses, facial expressions, body language, makeup, wardrobe, and styling of professional models who are doing the style of modeling that you want to pursue.Evaluate how those professional models respond to the lighting in the photo, whether it’s natural light or studio lights. Study the phrase “find the light” and practice it.Modeling the Light: A Model's Role in Lighting – ESSENTIALS For PhotographersPractice poses and expressions with a friend and a phone or point-n-shoot. You don’t have to pay a photographer if you just want to practice. Even phone photos will let you evaluate your own abilities and results in posing and expression.Practice your makeup and wardrobe/styling skills. Professional models on commercial shoots will have a makeup artist and stylist, but when you’re starting out you’re on your own. There’s no shortage of makeup tutorials on Youtube - one of my favorites is Pixiwoo: https://www.youtube.com/user/pix...Find a local photography club or photography meetup group - these are often in need of amateur models. You likely won’t get paid but you get practice and experience in front of the camera. You might get great photos back, you might get crap, but even if the photos are mediocre you’ll be able to evaluate your own performance, poses, expressions, and interaction with light. And, you’ll get experience working with photographers, being in front of the camera, and taking direction. IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all photo clubs are created equal. Some are great and professionally-run, some are poorly run and full of creeps.Stay humble. Take direction and critique without feeling personally insulted. However, at the same time, if you ever feel unsafe, you have the power to pack your things and leave.Once you have a hundred shoots under your belt, pick your best results that are in the style of modeling that you want to pursue, and present them to an agency.

How hard is it to get into face modeling?

You need both technical beauty and extraordinary features.

Technical beauty: **perfect symmetry between both halves of your face! (so important)***, proportional features, healthy looking, unblemished skin, nice bone structure, strong jaw line, high cheek bones, evenly spaced features (like eyes). Straight nose, although Supreme used to have some models without. Things like that.

Nice features: Eyes are massively important. So are lips, since models never smile. You can probably become a model without extrordinary features, but you at least have to look extraordinary when you wear make up. Really, if you have something unique that makes you stand out, that is beautiful and is well-balanced, then I think this is an asset.

I don't think this is written in stone though. Whatever your features, as long as the entire package looks nice and you photograph well, you could probably do it. I have seen some rather "interesting" faces in modeling before, but they make it because they have technical elements of beauty and a great, unconventional look.

EDIT: Sorry, I just wanted to add something. I remember reading a quote from a talent scout (the ones who run around looking to discover girls) who said something along the lines of: "We don't look for the pretty, cheerleader types, but the tall, shy girl in the back of the class". That should give you a sense of what they look for.

Also, recommendation: if you want to know if you have the face, take a picture of yourself looking straight forward, in harsh light (fluorescent or natural sun light), with no makeup. If you still look good, then you probably have the technical features required.

Also, as far as the acne issue is concerned, you may not need perfect skin, but it does need to be relatively healthy. acne will scar your skin and detract from the fresh face agencies often want. If you already have skin problems, they are likely to flare if you model, because of the lack of sleep, jetsetting and the fact that at shows they often use the same makeup brushes on many, many girls (hi, bacteria!). I would be surprised if agencies weren't concerned about this.

How can I get my hamster into modeling?

If your interested In "modelling" your hamster then you need to be old enough, if your under 18 you need a parent to help you. You can try entering your hamster in a calendar.
Send them a picture, and if your lucky they will enter it.
When you say "modelling" what exactly do you mean in specific details.
I have 3 birds, and 2 show hamsters as well, Im thinking about entering my own hamster into a Calendar. I have really beautiful animals. :) This is my suggestion. Goodluck.
