How Do I Get Out Of Kumon

How to get out of doing kumon?

I REALLY HATE KUMON! I have been doing it for almost a year now , I started with English because I got a C in my English test and I started on level B and I worked my way to level F in a matter of months ... Then over MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS I had to do both ENGLISH AND MATHS ... I didn't do most of the work ... I was having fun , my mom checked are kumon worksheets the day before returning to the centre and she noticed my brother had all his kumon and I had only like 2 weeks work (we had 1 months work) and she was giving out .ugh.... Our instructor was really nice and layed back ... If you didn't have your kumon for the whole week he wouldn't mind... Then I had to move centre because there's one closer to us ... The other centre was waaaay better because there was this guy who was sooo hot and I fancied and there was a shopping centre we go to go after kumon which was so fun .. I didn't want to move centres because of them reason ... It's all my dads fault he suggested to one of his friends who was out of work to open a kumon class near us and HE DID.. So if I want to quit my dad's friend will probably say something... I do maths now anyways (I did it after the summer) and I'm on level F it's sooo hard ! When I tell my mum that it is hard/I don't know it she'll will be like kumon is really helping then ! And I'm like WTF??!!! How can I get out of kumon? Because I don't wanna cheat + when I'm in the centre what will I do then!! It takes too much of my time!!

I really hate Kumon, how to get out?

I am a Kumon Instructor in New Jersey and it pains me to read messages like yours.
First, I applaud your consistency and determination for sticking with Kumon for 2 years. Level K is quite high-level work, and you should be very proud of yourself for getting this far.

Now, how can I help you resolve the issues you posted?
First, speak up. Ask to have a few minutes with your Instructor and voice your concerns (preferably before or after class time when they are not busy with other students). The Instructor doesn't know how you feel: they don't know that you feel other Assistants don't like you - which I am sure is not the case but I can't speak for them.

Second, why does it take too long to do each assignment - is the work really too hard, or is it simply too many pages? Again, talk to the Instructor. It is possible to adjust your daily workload so that it's a little less: that way you won't put it off till midnight when you can't concentrate. No one can concentrate on math level K that late at night!

Your parents have good intentions but your frustration will not help in working through this situation. You have a good head on your shoulders. Kumon is a great program if done correctly, and from what you are describing it is not happening right now for you. Before considering quitting, try to make an effort to fix this. You are not too far away from completing the entire program - which is quite an achievement!

Best of luck.

How can i get my parents to take me out of kumon?

I am a freshman in high school. I take, Honors English, Biology, art, computer class, tennis, and geometry. Im trying to graduate with a 4.0 gpa. But, kumon is getting in the way. So, school ends at 2:30, then i make my way to the tennis courts after dressing out. Then, my mom picks me up at 5pm and i get home a 5:10 to take a shower. then its around 5:30, so i do my homework. I have homework from ALL of my classes, everyday and its due the next day. and then in the middle of my hw, its around 6:30, so i go eat dinner. By the time im finished eating its around 7:10. Then, i RUN to my room and get my homework done. when im done its already around 9pm. That's when i want to sleep, because im sore from tennis and i feel stressed. I have to do 5 pages of kumon everyday. But, that how it is everday now and i started HS 2 weeks ago. Ive been getting yelled at lately for not doing kumon and parents are telling me hw irresponsible i am. My kumon instructor says i cant do my kumon at 9pm. and fiy im filippino, js...

How hard is it to complete Kumon?

To start off, the point of Kumon is to go back and work on your foundation skills to help you at the higher levels. Even though you already did the work when you were younger, that does not mean that you mastered it. If you did master it, then that would have shown when you took the placement test. You were placed on that level based on how you tested.   Now, as the levels go up, it will take more time for you to complete it. You may have to do less pages, do a couple of repetitions, etc. The Kumon I work at determines the homework and progression on each student. Meaning it is adjusted every week. Most centers just give you a plan and you follow it even if you do not need to repeat.   The highest level for math is O. There is no Q! Since you are on level J, you have six levels to go. Students usually complete six levels within their first year, but that is the lower levels. How fast you progress is based on how much work (pages) you do daily and if you actually do it daily, etc. I think that it may be a hard goal, but if you are determined, then you might be able to make it. It is okay if you do not make your goal. As long as you do not give up and continue to complete the work daily, you will finish.   Kumon is a great way to excel in math and reading. It really does help and it is a great way to reach your goal!   Another thing is that you can work as soon as you are of a legal age to work in your state. You do not have to complete all of the levels just to work at Kumon. And since your instructor knows who you are, you should have no problem getting a job at a Kumon.

How to get my parents to let me quit Kumon?

I go to this "learning" center called Kumon. It is a math and reading enrichment program that is SUPPOSED to help you in school. By the way, I am 13 going on 14 in a month and I have been doing this for 3 years(since 5th grade). I was put in Kumon because i wasn't doing good in my math in school. I thought, ok this will help me. WRONG! Kumon just stresses me out. What i dont get about it is that if you have a question or dont understand something, YOU CAN'T ASK FOR HELP BECAUSE THE "TEACHERS" THERE DONT KNOW ANYTHING!!!! I have so much trouble with this math which i think i wont learn till high school, my mom doesnt even know how to do it, and shes has been to college and graduated! It really takes up my whole day. I come home, do my school homework, then kumon, then i have basketball practice that sometimes i dont get to go to because Kumon is overlapping all my activities. My mom always asks, "Why are you so grumpy? Youre friends are never grumpy!" You know the answer. Please give me some suggestions to get her to help me quit

Can grades 4-6 apply to get a job at Kumon?

Do you mean someone in the 4–6 grade? You would be too young to get a paying job from Kumon, but you always welcome to help out at your Kumon center. But, you would have to ask first because it would depend if the teachers would allow you to help. I know at my center they would always let me help them out, but at my friend’s center they didn’t let students help.

I'm in 8th grade. Is Kumon effective for me?

I currently both work and learn at Kumon, I also happen to also be in year 8 and I can tell you this: it is effective. They go all the way up to university stuff so you won’t run out of things to learn in a while, and it’s all timed so you could also improve your speed and accuracy. Kumon let’s start off at something really easy like adding fractions, once you become really quick and accurate at it they will move you up a level. Because learning math is like a building a cylinder, if the foundation isn’t stable it will snap and fall over, the first few levels in Kumon let’s you review your foundations so you don’t make those silly mistakes.Once you reach a level above your year level, Kumon starts to become challenging and you will learn new concepts, they will make you repeatedly do them and with lots of practice and work, you will eventually be maybe one or two years ahead, there is a year 4 at my Kumon who is studying year 8 stuff and a year 6 studying year 12 so you see there is really no limit to how much you can learn there. At Kumon we try to lead you to discover how to do the questions on your own, I don’t like this, which is why I google the question I do not understand, it will get frustrating at times, but trust me in the end it will all be worth it.

How can I convince my mom to let me quit Kumon?

I go to stupid Kumon. It is so much stress on me they cut me down to 5 sheets instead of 10.I really want to quit, especially because I'm going into 8th grade and they give you homework every night and with my school homework I think it might be a lot. have been doing better then when I started, but how can I convince my mom to let me quit?
