How Do I Get Rid Of Osgood Schlatters Disease

What should I do with Osgood-Schlatter (o) disease?

Well, as experienced as your soccer coach may be, it is never a good idea to assume that his/her diagnostic acumen is comparable to that of a medical doctor. If you have a painful lump below your kneecap, then its most likely OS but you need to see a doctor for that determination. Usually OS doesn’t cause one to be inactive. Resting anything that hurts is always a good idea. Most boys get OS between ages 13 - 14, & girls 11 - 12 yrs old…in both cases it usually stops being a problem when the child is done growing. Some of grow more later so if you’re like me it would continue to be a problem until age 19.Regardless, you need to find out exactly what is wrong so you can stop the pain & not create further injury to the joint. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard at least 1 adult complaining about their knees, its a very active joint & easily injuredGo see your doctor, but before you go, read the info about Osgood-Schlatter on WEBMD. There are home remedies, but you need to know them to ask the doctor what he/she suggests.Good Luck!

What can you do to get rid of Osgood Schlatter disease?

Some exercises such as straight-leg raises, leg curls and quadriceps contractions may be done at home, with or without the help of a physical therapist to strengthen the quadriceps. It is also imperative to avoid heavy quadriceps loading. This should help prevent further problems. A little rest and time can help alleviate this disorder. However, if the condition is ignored or activities are continued despite pain, the disease may get worse and cause further inconvenience. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink juices and concentrate on good and healthy diet as this greatly helps the body to recover. Take calcium, vitamin D, MSM, selenium supplements & If pain develops, ice should be applied to the involved areas. Using ice can help prevent swelling and pain. The knee should be wrapped with an elastic bandage.

How do you help osgood schlatters disease?

Let your food and water heal you.

Part of the problem with Schlatter disease is that where calcium build ups are present, parasites will attack the affected area and sause considerable amounts of pain. Drinking 5-8 glasses of distilled water with a pinch of unrefined sea salt will rehydrate your body and provide proper minerals for your body to fight parasites.

I would also take a shot of carrot juice with 1 drop of Oregano OIl every morning for a week to help deep your body eliminate deep seated parasites.

You may be Selenium deficient
Eat one Brazil Nut each day for Selenium.
"Selenium activates an antioxidant enzyme called glutathione peroxidase, which may help"

MSM and Glucosamine are sulfur based food supp;ements that may help.

Drink three cups Apple juice with a tablespoon of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a dash of cinnamon each day for pectins and pH balance.

Tart cherry juice could help with pain management

Fish Oil will help.

Schlatter disease is not really a disease at all but rather it is like a
red light going off in your dash telling you to give it water and oil. Most Americans are chronically heydrated and have poor diets with little fruit or raw vegetables. They use unhealthy table salt and seldom get enough sunlight.

Drinking clean water, eating mostly raw fruits and veggies, drinking juiced fruits and veggies, eating nuts and berries, changing to sea salt for proper minerals, a little raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and getting at least 30 minutes of direct sunlight each day with daily moderate exercise would give your body a rich amount of anti-oxidants, mineral rich salts, and proper hydration will turn off the warning indicators that tell you that you have symptoms identified as Osgood Schlatters disease. Give your body what it needs and those light will go out.

How serious is Osgood Schlatter's disease?

Not particularly serious. My son is 37 years old and is currently a Captain in a Miami Fire/Rescue department. He is also a SWAT paramedic. While training for this his osgood shlatter flared up and became rather painful. It was a bother but he completed the training and still has this as part of his assignment.Osgood-Schlatter Disease (Knee Pain)-OrthoInfoKnee pain and swelling just below the kneecap are the main indicators of Osgood-Schlatter disease. Osgood-Schlatter's disease getting worse?

Almost two years ago, I was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter's disease. The physiotherapist said that I would eventually outgrow it.

This year, its been getting better, and up until about 2 weeks ago, it was manageable. Since then, its gotten much worse. I cannot do any running, jumping or even walk a long distance or it flares up. My knees are hurting much more often and feel quite stiff.

Anyone know how to make this better?

Treatment for osgood-schlatter disease?

This is a very very common condition in adolescent active people. While you’re growing your bones are soft at the growth plates. The patella tendon pulls on the bone and often makes a bump that causes pain and soreness. This condition will come and go through your early to mid teen years or until you quit growing. In simple terms it is growing pains. The bump however may become a permanent deformity. Nothing really to worry about. Treatment for this is ice and anti-inflammatory medication under the direction of your doctor. If the pain and soreness is significant you should reduce or stop activity until the symptoms go away.

Is there away to remove Osgood-Schlatter disease?

Just grow up. Literally.Once the growth plates are fused, the ossification point at the front of your knee will unite with the main part (upper tibia) and the pain will stop. Usually this is at about 15-18 years of age.Rarely you get an unfused ossification centre in a mature boy. I did a removal of the bone piece once. The pain was gone.My real amusement about the treatment for osgood schattlers is the old treatment given in the 90's when I was a medical student. My cousin got this treatment.Just manage the knee pain with small doses of painkillers till the yearly exams are over. Then comes the much awaited 2 months of summer vacation.Simply put both legs in plaster cast upto the hip during the 2 months of summer vacation. This treatment never fails.Any child put through this treatment never complains of knee pain- ever.
