The GMail application on Android does have a SPAM folder. On my phone, outbox usually stores messages that haven't been sent. Like if I don't have a signal, the message will go to my outbox, so I can later edit and send the text again. Also, when I'm sending a picture message, it'll go to the outbox while it's sending and then go to the sent folder when it's finally sent lol. There ya go :)
