How Do I Go About Asking For A Job

How to call and ask if a job is hiring?

I think you should call them on a weekday Monday-Friday and say "Hey my name is ________, I was calling to see if you are hiring at the moment" and they will let you know if you should come in and fill out an application or if they are fully staffed at the moment.

OR, if you want go in with a smile on your face and ask them if they are hiring in person

How should I go about asking for a job in a restaurant which is owned by my campers father?

Just be courteous and say you're looking for work and if they have something for you, you're willing. The real key when you have a job through a friend or family member is you can’t mess up because it will damage the relationship between your connection and your employer, which will mess up your connections reputation and limit your opportunities going forward because people talk.I worked on the technical side of the entertainment industry for a long time running lights for a handfull of very popular live music venues in Columbus, Ohio. Friends and acquaintances would often ask me if I could put in a good word for them. I would only refer people who either had a background in the business or that I knew had the mentality to handle being in an environment like the backstage area of a massive rock concert where they were supposed to work with celebrities, alcohol, and hot babes everywhere you look. I NEVER got a gig for a random friend because I learned early on that if my friend is a screw up it makes me look like a jackass. If you get the job you have to hold yourself to a higher standard than a regular employe. You can't be late, you can't slack off, you can't have a bad attitude. You have to go the extra mile. Stay late. You have to love the job. You have to be a model employee the whole time. If you pull that off, you will go farther in the company than someone who came in off the street.Connections are a good thing and you should use them to your advantage, but don't take advantage of your connections by being a less than exemplary worker.

I have to go to a job just because others are asking, "What are you doing?" What is your opinion on this?

It’s normal, in india it is a caring question asked by people who have your welfare as a priority in their mind. This process often makes people go out of their minds.Let people say something if u want to rest or gain other knowledge till your results are out, go for it.But if there is no serious job to do in between then work for some and get some money plus some experience of work too, what is the loss.

How can I go about asking my old internship for a job?

Question to you - what have you been doing since you left NBC ? If for example you were completing your graduation (or whatever else), it would not seem out of the ordinary to drop her an email highlighting what you have been up to for the past two years and then broach the subject of a possible employment back ay NBC. As an aside, the fact that you are connected with her on FB, please make sure that there are no telltale clues on FB that are quite the opposite of what you say of the two year hiatus in your email. !

Asking for Bar Staff jobs in person - what do I say?

I'm turning 18 soon and I'd really like to get a job as Bar Staff: I'm a great people person, I love the atmosphere in Bars and Pubs, and I can handle pressure. I've been told the best way to find a job as Bar Staff is probably to go into the Bar with my CV and ask if they're looking to hire anyone - but what do I say? Should I speak with whoever's behind the bar, or should I ask to speak to someone in particular? Would I need anything aside from my CV?

Any other tips would be most welcome. =]

How do you walk into a store and ask for a job?

I'm a bit nervous that i'll be ridiculed for walking in and asking for a job, with no sign of them hiring. If they have a printable application, should I print it, fill it out and turn it in? Do i have to hand them my resume and application? Do i ask any employee?

What’s the best way to go about asking to transfer to another job location within the company when I have only been working for the company for 7 months as of the date I wish to move?

There’s no magic spell you can put on the situation but you can start learning how your company does it.You are tying your wish to transfer to your service. There’s no need to do that. Sure, it’s troublesome for someone to leave just as they’re learning the job. But, if your company has other locations, they’re used to adjudicating transfers. They may even have some guidelines for allowing or declining. Start asking constructively and non-confrontationally and find out how it works. It may take awhile, and the sooner you start, the sooner the right configuration can come up.

Asking for job applications/ if they are hiring would it be rude if?

I always hated going into stores and restaurants and asking if they were hiring, but there's really nothing wrong with it. In fact, it shows them that you're eager to work there which will work in your favour! Just go in and say "Excuse me, do you know if there are any jobs available at the moment?". Most of the time, they'll say yes and to bring your CV in, or they'll hand you an application form. Some places only do their applications online, but if you have the choice always make sure you do it in person! It shows that you're making the effort to do it, and can be bothered to do more than sit infront of your computer screen.

You should smile a lot. A person makes up their mind about you in the first ten seconds of meeting you - walk into the interview room and smile and your interviewer, making eye contact, and reaching out to shake his/her hand and they'll get a great impression of you. Don't sit there with a huge smile on your face all the way through though!

What I found is that they're not looking for pitch-perfect. They're not looking for someone who can generically (ex working in a store) scan items through and be robotically nice to customers. Show them that you have charisma! Keep eye contact, but look away occasionally or else it can be seen as intimidating. Don't slouch in your chair if you're seated. Don't fold your arms - it makes you seem like you have something to hide. Just, be yourself, be friendly, smile when appropriate, laugh at all their un-funny jokes they're bound to make, and make yourself seem as suited to the position as possible.

But before all that, just walk into a store, and ask "are you hiring at the moment?".

How do I go about asking to reschedule my job orientation?

Home Depot required me to go to a job orienation in another city 38miles away (yeah I know). They also had other locations for job orientation but they sent me to that one. On the way there I got lost and I arrived an hour late. I called them and told the woman at customer service to inform them that I took a wrong turn and might be late. When I got there I went up to the lady doing the orientation and she said "Sorry but you came too late so we're going to have to send you back home. You should call your manager at your store location to reschedule another orientation." I was pissed because it normally takes 50 minutes to get there. I got lost so it took me an extra 40 minutes. But now I'm scared to call. What should I say? I don't want to make it sound like I'm making excuses, but I want them to know what happened without
